💠 Meijiafu Fried Chicken Wings (Renwu Store)
Hi everyone! I'm Wolf Wolf 🪽
Today I'm here to share a fried chicken stall located on Bade Zhong Road in Renwu — this is it: Meijiafu Fried Chicken Wings! The name sounds very friendly, but after eating, my feelings are a bit mixed...
This time I tried a few common fried items:
🍗 Spicy Chicken Cutlet 65 TWD
The outer layer looks a bit crispy, and it smells good~ But... it got cold, which really affected the taste a lot; the skin is no longer crispy, and the meat lost that juicy freshness from when it was just fried.
🍟 Crispy Fries (Small) 30 TWD
The fries are on the thinner side, but since they had been fried a while ago, they turned out a bit dry... what a shame!
🦑 Sweet Potato Balls 20 TWD
These were supposed to be crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside, but they became soft after cooling and had a slight oiliness.
🌿 Green Beans 30 TWD
These were fried quite dry, but since they weren't fried fresh, they lost all their crispness and had a somewhat greasy feel.
But!! The only savior is—
☕️ Traditional Red Tea 25 TWD
I really have to praise this cup of red tea!!! The sweetness is just right, it’s not overly sweet or cloying, and it really brings me back to the feeling of drinking iced red tea when I was a kid~ Wolf Wolf is willing to come back just for this cup of red tea!
Although the shop indicated that they pre-fry the items to prevent customers from waiting too long, Wolf Wolf thinks that fresh-fried is still the best in terms of texture~
I suggest that friends who want to buy focus solely on the red tea~ Hahaha!

Popcorn chicken, abbreviated as chicken chop, is a common national snack in Taiwan and is a type of fried chicken. The usual method involves marinating chicken breast in sauce for flavor, then coating it with breadcrumbs, batter, or sweet potato flour before deep-frying. After frying, it is sprinkled with pepper salt. The vast majority are consumed by placing the chicken chop into an oil-proof paper bag, and some are cut open before being placed inside.
Although similar snacks, such as salt and crispy chicken and other fried meat products, have existed for a long time, the fried chicken chop is considered to be a relatively new snack in Taiwan, generally believed to have appeared in the market around the late 1990s. The Taiwan Council of Agriculture's Animal Industry Division mentioned in the news materials for its 2006 Taiwan Golden Chicken Chop Carnival series that: "Through investigation by the Council of Agriculture and the Golden Chicken Chop Special Search Team, we found the originator of the Golden Chicken Chop - Mr. Zheng Guangrong of Zheng Gu Ma Chicken Chop."
Located in the bustling Shulin Night Market, Hong's Jiahuichung Hall - Nanzhi Branch - Shulin is my "only designated" spot every time I visit the night market. Whether taking food home to enjoy while watching a show or eating while strolling, it's my favorite. There are also many drink shops nearby to easily quench your thirst.
"Boneless Salted Crispy Chicken"
Fried until golden and crispy, the meat is tender and juicy, complemented by basil and onions that add a rich aroma and layered flavor. It's incredibly satisfying to eat.
"Fried Tofu Puff"
This was a big surprise! I've only had raw tofu puffs before, but I didn't expect the fried version to be so delicious. The first bite has a slight burst of juice! It carries a subtle medicinal aroma, fried to a crisp yet moist texture, making it the most impressive dish this time!
"Chicken Butt"
This dish also performs well—crispy and fragrant without being greasy, but unfortunately, the portion is a bit small, leaving me wanting more.
"Squid Balls"
Surprisingly, there is a hint of creaminess; I have had many squid balls before, but this is the first time I've encountered this flavor. It's chewy and rich, leaving a lasting impression.
"Fried Chicken Feet"
The skin is crispy and has a rich gelatinous texture. A pack contains three; I recommend one pack per person as it is just too delicious! It's been a long time since I've had decent chicken feet; those who enjoy this texture will absolutely love it!
Overall, this place is truly a hidden gem in the night market. Every visit requires a wait in line, and when I went around 21:40 before, they had sold out. I suggest going early to buy, or else you'll just be waiting and drooling!
Location: Da’an District, Taipei City
A representative of Taiwan in the fast food industry!
The products all have unique local Taiwanese characteristics,
It has a feeling somewhat like a Taiwanese KFC. 🤣🤣🤣
🌟 Guagua Bun
I often feel that the outer skin is a bit hard when I eat it,
but the interior is delicious oil rice with just the right amount of salty flavor.
There are two toothpicks on the side that should be removed before eating.
If children are eating, special care is needed.
What I had this time wasn't freshly cooked,
the temperature wasn't hot, which is a bit of a pity.
🌟 Sweet Bun
For me, the sweet bun is somewhat like a fried dumpling,
inside is a sweet filling.
Besides the sauce, the filling also has raisins,
which can add texture,
but some people don’t like it, so it depends on personal preference.
It's a place where you might not know what to eat,
a spot to grab a small bite if you're in the mood,
no need for a special visit.
"A standard process, step by step, purely to provide customers with golden, crispy fried chicken worth the wait."
The crispy, golden fried chicken originates from Tanzi in Taichung. An old man who retired from the civil service and his wife accidentally ventured into the fried chicken business, going from complete novices to dancing every day in the kitchen with fragrant chicken and spices, constantly experimenting. Eventually, they established the "Exclusive SOP for Golden Crispy Fried Chicken by Old Dad."
Every day, the couple spends over 12 hours in their kitchen laboratory, working on raw materials, cleansing the meat, exclusive marination, aging, flavor coating, packaging, and frying—all to find the most accurate process. Finally, they deliver it to the consumers, seizing the opportunity to gather valuable feedback and improve the flavors to meet everyone's preferences. They have finally built a unique Taiwanese fried chicken brand "Old Dad," satisfying every craving for fried chicken.
Old Dad has changed the bad habit of pre-frying traditional fried chicken, insisting on making and frying it fresh upon order. Although the waiting time for consumers is longer, the moment they taste the sizzling hot fried chicken fresh out of the pot, with juices bursting and flavors lingering, it assures them that the wait is worthwhile.

It seems that this somewhat well-known fried chicken shop has an appealing short video promotion, but little did I know this was also the beginning of disappointment (checking online reviews later shows mixed opinions).
The retro décor of the shop is quite on point, for example, the tissue paper commonly found at banquets in childhood inserted into glass cups. However, we were seated in a wall area on the second floor, and the red neon sign on the wall became the dominant color of the environment, resulting in all the photos taken having a red background (the color correction couldn't save them).
There is a minimum spend of one drink per person, so in reality, this place is a creative bar disguised as a fried chicken shop. The cocktails start at 300 NT dollars, plus a 10% service charge, and the meal prices are also relatively high. Perhaps it can only be considered a Taiwanese-style cocktail and fried food hot pot restaurant worth trying, and one would naturally find out if it suits their taste.
The first time I tried it, I felt that their fried chicken tasted particularly different! It had a strangely uplifting milky aroma; the skin was crispy, but the inside was incredibly juicy. Since that moment, I became a regular customer until now (I secretly recommend the branch next to Feng Chia University in Taichung; even though it’s Fat Uncle, that one is particularly delicious. 😋)
Usually, I eat the deboned chicken thigh fillet, but a few days ago, I ordered chicken legs and sweet potato balls.
Perhaps the quality varies from store to store; this time, I felt it wasn’t as good as before.
The aroma and skin flavor were decent, but when I got close to the bone, there was a blood taste that I don’t like, and both pieces had it. It was clear that they were fully cooked; it was just a taste I couldn't accept.~
The sweet potato balls had the expected chewy texture; they taste best when eaten hot right after frying. 👍🏻
When you buy them, you can ask the store for a packet of spicy powder. Fat Uncle’s spicy powder isn’t just for decoration; it’s genuinely effective and very good!
✐ Chicken leg $54
✐ Sweet potato balls $40
"Free snacks with a purchase of 200 or more~" by me, who walked across the street to buy fried chicken after class. 🤣
<About the meal 🥣>
Details are written in the picture!
<About the staff 👨🍳>
The staff are very talkative and really put effort into attracting customers, but since the store is newly opened, they haven't fully adjusted to the serving pace, so it can be a bit slow.
<About the environment 🐾>
Takeout only, no dine-in available. Located across from the Moral Education College, with a bus stop right at the entrance, so the transportation is decent.

Recently, I watched a Korean drama with my family and suddenly craved Korean fried chicken. I decided to take out from this place, which we could only find many years ago at the Taipei National Memorial Hall, but now there are more branches. I have always remembered their original flavor as being very good, so I ordered these two items this time.
▪️Premium garlic $339 (boneless half chicken)
▪️Classic original $319 (boneless half chicken)
I think both flavors were pretty good; the original still has the taste I remember. When ordering, the staff mentioned that the garlic flavor comes in premium and regular versions, and the premium includes additional mayonnaise on top, which was quite tasty.
However, on that day, I noticeably felt that the original flavor was much lighter. Upon opening, I found it consisted mostly of chicken skin... for over three hundred bucks, the experience wasn't too great (and since it was takeout, I don't have photos to share here).
Overall, I think while the portion is just right for two people, it still feels a bit overpriced, so I might not buy it again unless I get swept away by another Korean drama 😂.

Just when we needed to offer prayers at home, the local deity required chicken legs, and we couldn't choose parts from other fast-food places, so our family often just orders from Fat Daddy's for offerings, haha. Although Fat Daddy was popular for a time, they've been around for quite a while without closing down, which is pretty impressive! 😂
▪️Chicken leg $54 ▪️Chicken wings $38
▪️Sweet potato balls $40 ▪️Sesame taro balls $45/4 pieces
The most distinctive feature of their fried chicken is a very fragrant milky (?) flavor, which is really nice~ However, prices have really increased a lot; these prices aren't particularly large, and the chicken wings feel a bit more worthwhile. The sweet potato balls and sesame taro balls are just normal and decent.
Overall, they have their own unique flavor that makes us crave it occasionally. The fried chicken is freshly fried as you order; you can call ahead to pick it up faster~
