Sanhu Izakaya Daan Branch is located in an alley near Section 1 of Daan Road, and it is a standard Japanese izakaya. The actual address is Lane 160, Section 1, Dunhua South Road, but in reality, everyone seems to use Daan Road as the reference point.
Today, we had a group meal, with both individual and shared dishes, totaling 4125 TWD. I will base my review on the dishes we tasted.
Sanhu Platter:
Seven skewers, each with different flavors, visually appealing and incredibly delicious. The pork belly with scallion salt was impressive; the saltiness of the scallion sauce enhanced the freshness of the meat. The bacon-wrapped cherry tomatoes had a unique appearance, and the acidity of the tomatoes balanced the greasiness of the bacon. There were also pork belly with miso, chicken with scallions, and chicken skewers with mentaiko, satisfying both the visual and taste experience.
Grilled Zucchini:
Cut into five pieces, the moisture, sweetness, and seasoning of the zucchini were nicely balanced. Each piece was quite juicy.
Butter Beef Short Ribs:
Tender slices of beef short ribs with butter melted in your mouth; when eaten with sautéed onions, it brought out a more pronounced charcoal aroma.
Corn Shoots with Leaves:
Peeling the corn shoots yourself is quite fun, starting with the outermost tender leaves is an interesting experience. Four were 120 TWD, which means just 30 TWD each—not expensive at all.
Mentaiko Chicken Wings:
Four pieces, fully coated in mentaiko, rich in flavor and tender in texture. After all, they are chicken wings, so there is a bone, but handling it is not bothersome at all.
Sweetfish:
Four pieces for 130 TWD, which is also very reasonable. Besides the aroma of grilled fish and the freshly squeezed sour lemon juice, there's a lot of fish roe, delicious.
Mentaiko Chazuke:
Ordinary chazuke topped with fresh mentaiko. As long as the mentaiko is fresh enough, the taste speaks for itself. Wrapping up the meal with warm, gentle chazuke warms the stomach and makes the meal feel even more complete.
Sours:
I tried two flavors: lemon and umeshu, with a low alcohol content. The slight buzz and conversations with friends elevated the joy of the meal.
Overall, it is quite an affordable Japanese izakaya. It only feels expensive because we ordered too much; there were several dishes I enjoyed and forgot to take photos of.
The interior of the restaurant is quite spacious, and the service is prompt and attentive. The mural was impressive. The main Sanhu store is located on Yanji Street, and it is busier than the Daan branch. If you’re planning to meet someone for a meal, make sure to confirm whether it’s the Daan branch or the main store, as going to the wrong one could be quite awkward.
I recommend it to everyone!
Located on Linsen Road
There isn’t very good parking nearby
(But don't drink and drive)
A lively izakaya with a cheerful atmosphere
The staff are super enthusiastic and funny🤣
They also care about your dining experience and chat with us
A great companion for late-night snacks
Last call on weekdays is 1:00 AM
On weekends, it’s 1:30 AM
If you want to eat late-night snacks, it’s best to make a reservation
They recently changed the menu
The special item is a giant cotton candy
I had always wanted to try the roasted cotton candy, but it disappeared from the menu QAQ
You definitely have to order it
I really don’t know where they get such large cotton candy
It’s huge!!!
The outer layer is roasted very crisply
If the inside could be roasted a bit more to melt, it would be perfect
I recommend it for those who love roasted cotton candy (๑•̀ᄇ•́)و ✧
It’s totally fine to eat one by yourself
Steamed clams in sake
This dish has always shown consistent quality
The clams are fresh and plump
The quality of other dishes depends more on the day’s chef
Currently, the flavor difference can be quite large
Especially in terms of saltiness
However, the bacon and cabbage and green beans are within an acceptable range
A small downside was the Japanese stir-fried noodles I ordered this time
The flavor and noodles were lacking
The overall vinegar flavor was too prominent
The noodles were too powdery
Because I had tried it before and it wasn’t like this
After asking the staff, they said they are adjusting the preparation
The noodles part is because the supplier recently changed the noodles
They will continue to reflect and adjust
If you want a more sumptuous late-night snack, this is a good choice
Many options, good atmosphere, but the seating is a bit tight
Add them on LINE for free stuff
Occasionally there will be buy-one-get-one-free drinks or all-you-can-drink events
You can also come here with friends for a little drink (๑•̀ᄇ•́)و ✧
"Environment"
There are many izakayas in the Qingmei Shopping District at night 🏮. This time, I decided to try the visually stunning Tokuyama. The restaurant offers both indoor and outdoor seating, with outdoor areas where smoking is allowed 🚬. The indoor space isn't very large. Additionally, the restaurant is currently holding a promotion; if you spend 💰3600, you can join a spinning wheel prize draw 🎟️.
"Food"
📍 Beef tongue skewer 💰130
The beef tongue is thickly sliced and has a nice texture.
📍 Chicken scallion meat 💰70
📍 Chicken Matsusaka skewer 💰110
The grilled food pairs very well with drinks, and the meat is cooked perfectly.
📍 Umeshu whiskey 💰200
The umeshu has a hint of whiskey aroma, smooth and not harsh on the throat.
"Parking"
Motorcycles 🛵 can be parked on the side of the road.
Cars 🚗 can park in nearby parking spaces or paid parking lots 🅿️.
"Service"
There’s really nothing special about the service; it’s just serving dishes and clearing plates 🥏. However, there was a thoughtful server with glasses and blonde hair who noticed my phone was at 13%. Within three seconds, he brought me a power bank to recharge my phone. Yet, I still feel a bit hurt about the 10% service charge 💔.
"Payment methods"
Cash 💵
All payment options accepted.
As soon as I arrived at the entrance, I heard some customers speaking Japanese and thought it would be worth looking forward to. The decor and furnishings are quite Japanese-style. The space isn't large, but there is a wide variety of dishes, and the drinks are abundant with an all-you-can-drink promotion. The environment is also nice.
The beer is served in highball glasses, so the portion is slightly less than usual, making the all-you-can-drink offer a good deal. It's a two-hour limit, which is perfect for those who can drink quickly. The food is all standard fare, but I tried the fried chili for the first time, which was quite unique and I really liked it. The staff seemed very enthusiastic, often inviting customers to play games and drink a few rounds. There was a nice atmosphere with many regulars around.
🍻 A great choice for a fun gathering! Experience the drinking culture of Japanese izakayas in a relaxed setting!
Due to company relations, we had a big dinner for the first time in this casual izakaya atmosphere. However, they also have many tables for two or four people, and the vibe feels very similar to a regular restaurant, with some foreign faces around, so it doesn't feel too local and hard to approach.
This time, everyone chose a 4000 yen 2-hour all-you-can-drink plan, which includes a total of 8 dishes and specified drinks. There were also many drink options available, and ordering drinks via a tablet made it convenient for those who don't speak the language.
I originally thought this all-you-can-drink experience would have ordinary food, or even be somewhat unappetizing, but surprisingly, everything was quite good! The sashimi was very fresh, and the other ingredients were also quite decent. There was a great atmosphere with people grilling skewers right on-site!
For an introduction to the dishes and my impressions, check out the photos below! I recommend this place as a perfect starter izakaya for newcomers to Japanese izakayas!
A suitable place for after-work gatherings, whether it's a small group of friends or a larger party, flexible seating arrangements can be made. If there are many people, a deposit is required in advance to reserve seats.
The menu is diverse, ranging from sushi to skewers. The quality of the dishes ordered is consistently good, and the serving speed is quick.
There are also many options for drinks, including various types of sake, and for highballs, you can choose double the alcohol content, which is really strong.
After soaking in the hot springs during the holiday, we went to an izakaya.
It was almost six o'clock, and I had a reservation for 7:00.
When we walked in, there was only one table available, so they arranged for us to sit at the counter.
I didn’t like being so close to the stranger next to us.
Mainly because it was too hot, we were too close to the frying pan.
We casually ate some of the ordered dishes and packed the rest to take away.
The salt-grilled beef, cumin lamb, and little black pig were all really delicious.
With each bite, there was an abundance of juicy meat. I loved it.
#Tsuta Japanese Izakaya
At the Modern Izakaya on the sixth floor of Shin Kong Mitsukoshi A9, traditional izakaya dishes are presented with a modern twist. The environment is very comfortable and clean, and the staff is warm and professional, making for a great overall dining experience. The karaage chicken, mashed potatoes, fried pork cutlet sandwich, and small rolls with squid mayonnaise are all very enjoyable, while the other dishes are more standard. There is a wide variety of alcoholic beverages available, and many dishes not on the menu can also be inquired about, making it feel like there are often new dishes being introduced that are worth looking forward to.
This place does not have a reservation service, and it has two floors with three outdoor tables, but there's never enough seating. It’s common for it to be full during peak dining times.
The ordering and food collection are self-service, and during busy times, the collection area can get very crowded.
The prices for the dishes are quite affordable, and there’s also soup available for unlimited refills (the one we had that day was a rich bonito broth, which was really warming).
The menu is generally divided into cold noodles, tossed udon, soup noodles, curry, rice bowls, and various side dishes and fried items.
You will definitely find something you want to eat here!
However, ordering a main dish alone may not be very filling; for instance, after the two dishes we ordered this time, we both felt about 70% full, so it’s recommended to add some extra sides.
✐ Mentaiko Tempura Udon Salad $149
· This udon looks exceptionally delicious. At first glance, one might think it would just have a simple white sauce flavor and be quite plain.
To my surprise, the flavor profile is rich, the udon is chewy, and the sauce is perfectly coated on the noodles—simply fantastic!
✐ Scallion Salt Cold Noodles + Golden Fried Pork Cutlet $189
· The presentation has quite a ceremonial feel. The cold udon is chewy and refreshing, and the onions in the sauce add a lot of flavor. The fried pork cutlet is incredibly crispy!!! It’s a delightful set meal, although the portion is not very large.

Busy until late and almost everything nearby was closed, I casually found a place to eat. It looked like a typical izakaya, but unexpectedly special.
To my surprise, the menu had a lot of things I hadn't seen before. It turned out to be an offal specialty restaurant.
The staff were very polite and good at making recommendations; they genuinely had confidence in their dishes. Otherwise, I wouldn't have dared to order something unusual like optic nerves.
The items were strange but surprisingly delicious. Moreover, each skewer had a different seasoning, so the flavors didn't become monotonous.
The signature fried pig liver had no fishy taste. The chicken gizzard was well-prepared and didn't have the strange taste usually associated with it.
I highly recommend the chicken throat meat. The sake-flavored chicken throat is braised and comes with tofu skin soaked in the braising sauce. It's perfect as an appetizer before the skewers are grilled. The throat meat skewer comes from a slightly different part and has a crunchy texture that's quite unique.
