🎖️Old Hunan🎖️
I haven't written a food review for a while, and it looks like the photos will expire soon, so I thought I’d write one now....
The reason I didn’t want to write a food review is that the prices for food have been constantly rising, which has greatly reduced my motivation to write. The organizers, please add more effort...
Old Hunan, as the name suggests, serves Hunan cuisine, which is spicy, very spicy. After eating, I was sweating profusely.
One dish you must order is the stir-fried pork; their stir-fried pork is pretty good, with solid meat and a strong aroma. It’s very oily and goes well with rice, making you unable to resist having one bowl after another.
The chicken gizzards are the spiciest here, no doubt about it. The taste is pretty good, but it’s extremely spicy, and I couldn't handle it well, so I didn’t eat much.
The fresh river fish pot includes various small fish, like yellow croaker, and tastes quite good, fairly fresh. However, there are a lot of small fish bones, so you need to be especially careful while eating.
Overall, it’s a pretty good Hunan restaurant, without the noise of chain stores, just the tranquility that a small shop should have. (Of course, the environment is also quite clean.)
If you can handle spicy food and happen to live nearby, you’re welcome to give it a try XD.
🎖️ Xiang La La 🎖️
This time, we came to "Xiang La La," a restaurant that specializes in authentic Hunan cuisine. As soon as we stepped in, we were surrounded by the intense aroma of spiciness. It felt like every dish was proclaiming, "If you’re not afraid of spicy, come and try!"
We first ordered
🌶️ Steamed Egg, a seemingly ordinary dish that serves as salvation for those who can’t handle the heat. The smooth and tender steamed egg custard melts in your mouth, rich yet not greasy, providing us with our only respite amidst the fiery battle to come.
Next up was
🌶️ Stir-fried Green Peppers with Lentils. The fresh spiciness of the green peppers intertwined with the crispness of the lentils, making it irresistible. Old Changsha's Dou Sheng was also astonishing, with the tofu's golden crispy skin giving way to a tender, juicy interior that made us want to refill our rice bowls multiple times.
🌶️ Chef's Spicy Pork
was a pinnacle of spiciness, featuring Hunan’s specialty chili peppers stir-fried with freshly cut pork. Each bite was filled with a fiery heat, and I could feel beads of sweat beginning to form on my forehead. With every mouthful, I gradually descended into a state of aromatic sweating, spicy yet utterly addictive.
🌶️ Original Flavored Loofah
stood out as particularly refreshing amid this spiciness, with the loofah soaking up the broth's sweetness, providing a momentary break for my taste buds. Stir-fried Bullfrog with Perilla took the heat to another level, perfectly combining the fragrant perilla with the tender bullfrog, delightfully spicy and tantalizingly aromatic.
🌶️ Steamed Pork Ribs with Taro
was a dish filled with homely warmth, with the dense taro and tender, flavorful pork ribs creating a rich aroma in every bite. Stir-fried Braised Meat was equally impressive, featuring fresh, juicy meat with the rich flavors unique to Hunan cuisine, satisfying the cravings of any meat lover. Finally, the Mashed Chili Eggplant with Century Egg presented a striking combination of eggplant and century egg, beautifully enhanced by the mashed chili, delivering both the kick of the chili and the essence of the ingredients, creating a layered and unforgettable taste.
Overall, "Xiang La La" is not just a restaurant; it's more like a spicy baptism, with each dish showcasing the spiciness, aroma, and freshness of Hunan cuisine. Especially the freshly sliced beef, whether in the spicy pork or braised meat, reached the ultimate levels of tenderness and spicy aroma. If you're a fan of spiciness, this place will definitely satisfy you, making you sweat profusely while relishing every bite. It's truly spicy, making you unable to resist exclaiming, "The dragon roars! Awooo!"
🌟Bib Gourmand in 2022 and 2023
🌟The environment is clean, the air-conditioning is very cool, and the price is not cheap

"It's nice to have you, Hunan Cuisine Salon" is a brand of Tainan's popular Roast Pork Charcoal Mari. It specializes in spicy and heavy-flavor Hunan Hunan cuisine. It is located at the corner of Wufei Street. The transparent floor-to-ceiling window design presents a modern atmosphere and a high-end feel.
The seating area has square tables for 2-4 people, large round tables suitable for gatherings, and long private tables for privacy. You can book in advance if necessary.
There were a lot of people this time and we sat in a box seat by the window. However, it may be due to the store's process. We reserved a seat at 7 o'clock and almost 8 o'clock. We were dumbfounded and thought it would be better not to have a positioning system at all.
(However, my friend said it was normal the second time I went there to eat)
It’s great to have you. The menu of Hunan Cuisine Salon is very diverse. We also ordered many dishes. It is really suitable for a group of friends to eat.
Began to eat
Preserved egg and chilli 💰228 (medium spicy)
This dish is the first one that we have been waiting for for a long time. It looks inconspicuous. Just try it and eat it directly with rice. The unique flavor of the preserved egg itself is combined with the spiciness, which makes it full of spiciness. We chose spiciness to stimulate our taste buds.
Wang style braised pork 💰996
This dish is really delicious. I originally ordered two portions but it was sold out. The three-layered meat is so soft and tender that it melts in your mouth. The seasoning is also moderately salty and sweet. It is a great dish to go with rice.
Lao Gan Ma roasted pork ribs 💰358
Not much memory 😂
Yellow perch 💰658
The slow-cooked sea bass, old tofu, sauerkraut, garlic and celery have a slight white pepper flavor to the soup. They all agreed that it was not bad, but the meat quality was still good.
Haoxiang Beer Duck 💰728 per serving
The warm duck is slowly stewed in selected beer and stir-fried with ginger slices, chili peppers and garlic sprouts. After taking a bite, I found that the beer taste was not very obvious, but the sauce was sweet and not too salty. The rice was almost finished at this time! !
Steamed Pork 💰358
The pork belly is wrapped in steamed pork powder and cooked over slow fire.
I personally think this dish is a bit ordinary.
Jasmine rice 💰120 (small bowl)
It is recommended to order a larger bowl for more people 😂
I originally ordered a small bowl, but it turned out that the rice was too heavy and the fried rice was not enough. The white rice had a fluffy and solid texture.
Pineapple Shrimp Balls 💰358
Why come to Hunan to eat pineapple shrimp balls?
Hunan fried rice 💰300
The fried rice was not only crispy in texture, moderately seasoned and salty, but also fragrant from the frying pan, so we finished it in silence.
Dry pot chicken 💰458 (slightly spicy)
Use pickled beans, garlic, and chili peppers to stir-fry, and add half-fried chicken legs. The meat is soft and tender, and the seasoning is also very flavorful and full of aroma.
Farmhouse sansho pepper eggs 💰328
The first time I ate it in a restaurant in Taipei, I thought it was an egg but it was full of aroma. I ordered it and ate it. First, it was a delicious egg.
Spicy stir-fried scallops with sour radish 💰680
Unmemorable fresh scallops.
Golden and Silver Egg Seasonal Vegetables 💰358
Still need to eat some food 🥰
Fresh sugar cane juice 💰99
Mature black tea 💰66
Thoughts: The food is highly recommended, especially the Hunan cuisine. After waiting for a long time, the store asked if I wanted to drink water. The overall service was good, but I made a reservation at 7 o'clock and ate at almost 8 o'clock (probably due to a homework error).
If you pay attention to food: Hunan cuisine is delicious, but the most common ones are ordinary.
If you pay attention to the environment: very clean and cool air conditioner
Pay attention to parking: motorcycles can park at the door
Car looking for location
If you pay attention to the toilet: Yes, it is very big and feels
If you are serious about queuing: It is recommended to make a reservation (although the first time I went to make a reservation at 7 o'clock, it was too late to eat at 8 o'clock)
If you value service: overall service is pretty good
If you pay attention to CP value: 🌟🌟

🔱 Chef Fei’s Chili Fried Pork 🔱
This is not the first time I have visited a very delicious Hunan food chain store. The branch I visited this time is in a shopping mall not far from the company.
Chef Fei also won the title of National Stir-fried Pork King from the China Cuisine Association.
✔️ Fried pork with chili 🌶️🌶️🌶️
The undoubted flagship product, green chili and black pork stir-fried together, the taste is very fragrant and great.
The ingredients used are exquisite, the ingredients are very fresh, and the whole dish is full of hotpot flavor. It is worthy of the title of Little Fried Pork King. There is also a small candle underneath to keep the stir-fried meat hot at all times.
The spiciness level has been adjusted because it caters to consumers from all over the country, because if it is Hunan food eaten by Hunan people, normal people will not be able to stand it... Even so, I was still sweating profusely after eating it🥵
✔️ Pan fried golden eggs 🌶️
This dish is too salty... Although it does taste good, I don't know if the salt shaker was spilled. The waiter was originally going to change a plate for us, but he decided not to do it😐 The waiter gave us two cans of Coke, which was just in time, because the spicy hot braised pork is really too spicy...
✔️ Spicy Hot Braised Sauce 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️
The hottest thing today, simply put, it is a very spicy braised food...
I was completely speechless at the time.... There were pig ears, dried tofu, peanuts, etc.
🌼 Overall, Chef Fei is still very good, but the premise is that you must be able to eat spicy food hahaha
🔆🔆 Farming Notes-Hunan Cuisine 🔆🔆
Come to Shenzhen again and eat Hunan cuisine again😂😂😂
There are really many Hunan cuisine restaurants in Shenzhen. Although Hunan cuisine is spicy, it goes well with the meal and makes people want to eat it.
This time I came to Nong Geng Ji, a famous chain restaurant in Hunan. The decoration is very old-fashioned, after all, the emphasis is on local cuisine~ When you come in, you will be served a cup of scented tea and let you rinse your mouth.
🔱 Classic Hunan stir-fried pork
A must-order dish in Hunan cuisine, stir-fried black pork with chili pepper, as much oil as you want, as fragrant as you want, enjoy it~
The stir-fried pork here tastes pretty good, I recommend it.
🔱 Preserved egg with red pepper
Another classic dish, using a wooden mallet to pound preserved eggs and green chilies, it doesn’t look spicy, but it is the spiciest among them, and it tastes delicious.
🔱 Taro Pork Ribs
Soft and glutinous taro paired with pork ribs is a classic Hunan dish and one of the few things that is not spicy 😂😂😂
🔱 Fried dough sticks
Fried fried dough sticks with sesame seeds in the middle, delicious.
Overall, I personally think Nong Geng Ji is slightly inferior to Chef Fei's, but it still deserves four stars. The rice 🍚 is not as soft as Chef Fei's, so you have to buy it separately.
But Nong Geng Ji also serves Hunan cuisine that tastes pretty good, with moderate spiciness (currently). Why do we say current? Because I still felt hot when I woke up this morning⋯⋯🥲🥲 If you have a chance, you can try it!
[Chef Zhou-Fried Pork with Chili]
In a nutshell: Plagiarism of Chef Fee’s Chili Stir-fried Pork...
The decoration style of the store, the clothes of the waiters, and even the gestures are 99% similar to those of Chef Fei... but the taste is far different.
I really hate this kind of knock-off product, like QiaoDan (imitation Jordan), but my colleague said he wanted to try it, so I decided to give it a try.
🔱 Stir-fried pork with chili pepper
The waiter got the wrong one, so I took a photo
The plating method is exactly the same as that of Chef Fei...
🔱 Stir-fried yellow beef
There’s too little beef, basically just garlic and onions.
The beef was also overcooked and extremely spicy. It didn’t have the spicy and spicy feeling of Hunan cuisine at all.
🔱 Pickled pepper fish
Spicy...just like grilled fish outside, nothing special
🔱 Preserved egg with red pepper
The green ones inside are chili peppers. This is a cold dish, which I like, although it is also very spicy...
🔱 Meat Sauce Crispy Rice
It tastes terrible... I originally imagined it was Xiaodangjia's golden rice crust.
But what’s on top is the black pepper sauce from the breakfast shop’s sizzling noodles...it’s not delicious👎
Pirated + unpalatable = Sux 👎👎👎
It was my first time to visit a Hunan restaurant that was praised highly by friends and netizens. I heard that the stir-fried green beans in this restaurant are unparalleledly delicious, so I visited the restaurant and concluded: it is really delicious! I definitely want to recommend it to more people👍👍👍
The best food (five stars)
❤️Dry stir-fried green beans✨
❤️Stinky Tofu✨

The only downside to this meal:
Fried water lotus is really not delicious👎
The water lotus felt a bit too old or had been stored for too long. It was yellow in color, not bright green, not crispy when bitten, and the seasoning was not very fragrant. We didn't finish the entire table. I don’t know why the quality of this dish is so different from other dishes... In short, Shui Lian does not recommend it
#xiang8lao #Hunan cuisine #Dry stir-fried green beans #芋mashroll #合菜
Chef Fei, the number one brand of Hunan stir-fried pork, truly deserves its reputation.
Eating a small stir-fried pork is like taking a bath.
People from Hunan who were traveling with me said this was a small case, but to me it was like heaven...
The stir-fried pork is a must-try here. It is very fragrant and tasty, and the meat is also very chewy. It is made from black pork.
The loofah is not too soft, it is soft yet crispy.
The taro ribs are very soft and glutinous and delicious.
The preserved egg chili is also a must-order dish in the restaurant. Unfortunately, it was sold out today. highly recommended
People who like heavy flavors should not miss it, salty food is good too
I recommend the stir-fried green beans because I don’t really like the taste of green beans, but this one doesn’t have the bean flavor and goes well with rice.
My favorite is the taro mashed roll. The outer shell is fried very soft and there is a taro mashed stick in the middle. It is a light dessert.
The silver wire roll is quite ordinary and you don’t need to order it.
Reservations are required as there are many people during meal times.
This Chinese restaurant is highly recommended by friends. This time I took my American friends to eat stinky tofu! !
Every dish is above the standard. When I checked out, the price was over 600 per person. I thought it was a great deal and I was very full!
Highly recommend the stir-fried green beans (the best), eggplant sausage, rich sides, and General Tso's chicken...all of them are actually very good!
The spiciness is not too spicy😋
Stinky tofu is really smelly... the kind that totally scares foreigners! But it’s plump, juicy, and full of flavor. I personally appreciate it haha
What was relatively good was the hot and sour potato shreds. I didn’t see it clearly and didn’t know it was a cold dish. I originally wanted to eat it hot, but it lacked the aroma.
