Thank you, Fooday 🥳 for inspiring me to try more different foods 🍽
🚩 Location 🧭
Located at the intersection of Wuqing 7th Street and Wuqing West 3rd Street in the West District of Taichung City, it's a very charming old shop.
🪑 About the overall atmosphere 🎡
From the outside, you can see a lot of Chinese style. This restaurant specializes in Beijing and Shanghai cuisine and has won the Michelin Bib Gourmand award for many years. After passing through a small archway at the entrance, you will walk through a small garden to reach the counter. The tables and chairs inside look quite old; the female staff wear qipaos, and the minimum consumption for a private room is 6000 TWD. The lantern-shaped lights above each table are very interesting.
💰 Prices and dishes 🍴 (if price is missing, it's because I forgot)
Smoked Cherry Duck Breast $360
The duck is laid over vegetables; the meat is slightly dry, which is normal for duck, but it has a fresh and tender taste, living up to its name of cherry duck.
Fujian Fried Noodles $300
Accompanied by a lot of bean sprouts and green onions, there are also two shrimp inside. Strong-flavored foodies will likely enjoy this, but I found it a bit salty, and I couldn’t really taste the noodles.
Saliva Chicken $320
It has a bit of cartilage, but generally has no bones; the meat is super tender and delicious, topped with a simple sauce and minced garlic for added flavor.
Sauce Braised Eggplant $280
A very home-style dish, the sauce flavor is completely absorbed by the eggplant, making it perfect for rice.
Sauce Exploded Walnut Chicken
The outer skin has a slightly sweet and sour coating, paired with bell peppers and peas; the meat is also very tender and tasty.
Soup Dumplings
Juicy, plump, and piping hot, with thin skin and just the right amount of filling; every bite is a burst of juice.
Flavored Smoked Squid $300
The staff spoke so quietly when serving this dish that nobody noticed what it was; it tasted quite similar to abalone, and I later found out it was squid.
Vegetable Hat $320
Dried tofu, bean sprouts, and shredded wood ear mushrooms stir-fried and wrapped with a pancake; this is a genuine Beijing dish. Eating it wrapped in pancake was delicious, but eating it directly seemed a bit salty.
Northeast Sour White Pot (Large) $690
The pot has quite a lot of ingredients, and the meat is fresh and tender; it also contains a few shrimp. A classic dish that you must order when having Beijing cuisine.
Crab Roe Tofu
Fried with some crab roe and tofu, it has a sandy texture; perfect as an appetizer.
Scallion Pancake
Quite different from Taiwan's scallion pancakes, this one is very thick and has a lot of filling. I've never had such a thick scallion pancake; however, I didn’t like it much because I’m not used to it.
Fried Silver Thread Roll
Served with sweetened condensed milk on the side, both adults and children love it.
Dayuanzi Guava Lemon
Super tasty, it’s not like those artificially flavored guava juices; it’s real guava juice paired with lemon, which is very refreshing.
Dayuanzi Four Seasons Spring Oolong
The tea leaves occupy almost half of the bottle, and it tastes super strong; it’s refreshing and delicious.
🤨 Conclusion ♥
Even before 11:30, many people are already waiting at the door to go in. It’s a great restaurant for gatherings with family and friends; the menu is extensive that sometimes it’s hard to decide what to order. If you want to keep it simple, you can choose fixed portions of set meals.
Beiping Weifulou Zhongxiao Store is located next to the exit of Houshanpi MRT Station, only a minute's walk away.
The store's main focus is of course the signature Beijing dishes, but there are also some Sichuan or Taiwanese dishes.
What I enjoyed today was asparagus and shrimp, Jiuzhuan Fat Sausage, Bamboo Pork Sliced Soup, plus two bowls of white rice and service charge, the total cost was about 1,200 yuan.
Asparagus and Shrimp:
The crisp asparagus and springy prawns are all seasoned very sweet, and the fiber of the asparagus has been carefully selected.
Nine-turn Fat Sausage:
This is a very powerful Kung Fu dish.
The thick fatty sausage may seem difficult to bite at first glance, but in fact it feels like aspic on the verge of melting in the mouth. It is very easy to chew, and every bite is full of rich meaty aroma. What is even more amazing is that it can still be chewed during the process. Feel the elasticity of the fat intestines.
And the store owner sprinkled a lot of coriander to fine-tune the taste, which is also very satisfying.
Bamboo Piper Pork Soup:
Bamboo pipes are also a rare commodity. In addition to sliced meat and peas, there are also a lot of bamboo pipes in the soup.
The taste of bamboo fungus is actually hard to describe, but you will be fascinated after eating it once. The whole bowl of soup tastes quite refreshing and satisfying.
Overall, it is a pretty good Beijing restaurant.
Although the three-course meal is not cheap, it is indeed more satisfying than imagined.
The store sells relatively affordable take-out Hong Kong-style barbecue bento boxes, which taste quite good.
The store has three floors. The dining environment is clean and the experience is quite good.
Originally, our store was a Xinyi store in the Anhe area of Xinyi. After it was permanently closed due to human factors, this was the only one left in the Fulou series.
I hope the good taste can continue to spread.
Recommended to everyone!
It only opens at 11:30. If you arrive early, there will be a seat at the door so you can sit down and take a rest. The waiter will show you a seat. The store is spacious, clean and bright, with plenty of seats. There are Chinese round tables inside for family gatherings.
About the meal
Shrimp fried rice, NT$120. The fried rice is very fragrant. When you take the first bite, your whole mouth is filled with the aroma. The shrimps are fresh and crispy, but the overall fried rice tastes bland.
Lao Man Sauce Duck, NT$290, is a cold sauce duck with a delicious and rich flavor. The marinade is very tasty. The duck meat is tender and easy to bite, but be careful of the small broken bones.
Pork and three delicacies dumplings, NT$140. The fillings are plump and solid, with a relatively large proportion of pork. There is a familiar herbal flavor, but I can’t identify the specific flavor.
The old restaurant has good taste for more than ten years, and the price is affordable. The roast duck, stinky tofu and bean paste pot cake are all must-try. The price is really good in Dunbei, and the meals are not very small. You can order individual portions a la carte. Sauerkraut and white meat hotpot only $200
The portion is quite large, and the soup is also very good. The rice noodle soup and roast duck are both delicious. The combination of dishes depends on the number of people, whether it is for three or four friends or for a large number of people.
I heard that this is a time-honored Beijing restaurant next to 228 Park. Looking at the name of the restaurant, you can probably guess that the signature is catnip cakes. There is also a shop assistant making catty pancakes on the spot in the window. People passing by can clearly see it.
There are not many seats on the first floor, but it looks like there is room on the second floor. When I went to buy fried rice at noon on weekdays, I found that there were only two tables on the first floor. If you want to dine in at noon on weekdays, it seems that you don’t need to make a reservation.
Pork shredded fried rice $120
My first impression when I saw the fried rice was that it was very similar to Din Tai Fung style fried rice. It was white in color and didn’t seem to have any soy sauce (not even added?). When I saw this white fried rice, I couldn’t help but worry that it would be too bland and tasteless. And it looks like it’s just a few things like shredded pork, eggs, and chopped green onions.
But after I actually took it into my mouth, I thought it was quite delicious. It had a lot of flavor and a good salty aroma (but some of the bites were very salty, maybe because I accidentally didn’t stir-fry the salt). I would like to buy it again in the future. fried rice
If I really want to talk about the shortcomings, it should be that it is a little oily and the portion is a bit small. I think I am a girl with a normal food intake, but I feel only eighty percent full after eating. For this price, the CP value is medium.
I had a meal at Zhongfuyuan with my colleagues a long time ago. At that time, I felt that the clerk was quite dominant when ordering food (it felt like a forced sale?), so I never ate here again; this time I felt that the fried rice was delicious. Very good, I will buy it again next time!
I also want to try the signature cake~
(Looks like thin scallion pancakes or pancakes)
