#Yingge
I’m back at the Yingge food plaza for a meal!
It's really convenient here.
There are quite a few delicious restaurants.
The seating area is spacious and comfortable, and there are restrooms available.
The environment is okay as well.
Today, I’m here to try the very popular Takuan Japanese cuisine.
What I wanted to try the most is the tempura rice bowl.
The fried items include shrimp, chicken, fish, and some fried vegetables.
The rice is topped with smooth egg, making it very appetizing.
The star, the tempura, performed excellently.
The batter is fried just right—crispy without being greasy.
The texture of the shrimp is chewy.
The chicken is juicy and not dry.
The fish is quite tender.
The portions are generous.
Remember to pair it with the restaurant's tempura dipping sauce—it really helps cut through the greasiness. 👍
Mixed fried vegetables mainly consist of shredded onions, shredded carrots, and some green beans.
I felt that the fried vegetables were a bit heavy.
If shared among several people, having one or two bites each is okay.
But eating it all by yourself can get quite greasy. 😅
Overall, the dining experience was quite good.
The tempura is really delicious,
and the prices are affordable.
I will definitely come back next time to try the noodles.
The meals at Tao Ban Wu are hard to go wrong with and the prices are reasonable. It’s the top choice for family gatherings and a must-choose restaurant for birthday month. You can download the Wang Pin Feng Mei Shi app, and during your birthday month, you'll receive an 88% discount voucher for set meals.
The baked beef with fresh vegetables and Windsor sauce is very refreshing. The lily bulb beef soup is lightly sweet. The grilled steak paired with our delicious onion sauce has a strong flavorful onion sauce that goes perfectly with the steak.
The sauce-braised king oyster mushrooms can be considered a signature dish! It hasn’t been swapped out from the menu for a long time, XD!
Recommendations:
🚩Yulon City Food Street Curry Restaurant has a new stall and still has room for improvement.
Curry Curry opened in September this year at Yulon City Eslite Living's B1 food street, serving curry made with Indian spices but presented in a Japanese Western cuisine style. Originally, this stall featured Indian cuisine (I was planning to have their curry with naan), but unexpectedly, after a year of operation, it was replaced by another brand by the same operator, although the main dishes still focus on curry, with Curry Curry additionally offering pasta as an option.
There are many seats in the B1 food street, but the seating areas are somewhat scattered, so it's advisable to find a seat first during busy times before ordering. Orders and payments are made at the counter, with cash and various payment methods accepted. Collect a vibrating buzzer and wait for your number to be called before picking up your order.
Today's meal review:
Chicken curry rice: The chicken portion was not very generous, and the curry sauce was rather thin. The taste was quite average; overall it was bland and not particularly delicious, but you can add rice and extra curry sauce.
Croquettes: They seemed freshly fried, so they were hot, filled with corn and mashed potatoes. The seasoning was on the sweeter side, and the texture was very soft.
Drinks: There are refills, with four options available. I appreciate the unsweetened green tea, but all options were quite watery.
The staff at the newly opened restaurant were very friendly, kindly helping with extra rice and asking customers to leave positive reviews on Google Maps. However, I personally feel that the seasoning of the dishes could still improve, and the quality isn’t stable enough. I will observe how long this restaurant can last going forward.
I really love their pancakes in Taipei ❤️
Although sometimes they get cooked too much (?
The fluffy texture in the middle disappears QAQ
I was super happy to hear they were opening in Hsinchu
Finally, I don't have to go back to Taipei to eat them
On weekends, you definitely have to make a reservation
Or be among the first to wait in line
Otherwise, you'll basically have to wait at least an hour
On weekday afternoons, we happened to find seats available on site
There are a lot of meal options
I always struggle with what to eat QAQ
I want to eat everything
Pan-fried beef short rib curry rice
The curry is on the sweeter side
If the curry isn't enough, there's a small bowl on the side you can add more
The omelette is delicious
Honey ice cream pancake
I always have to order this when I come
On top is vanilla ice cream
The pancake has a fluffy texture
A small downside is that the pancakes take longer to make fresh
Cotton candy ice cream pudding
The ice cream on top tastes like a mix of strawberry, vanilla, and soda
The pudding has a firm texture
The base isn't too sweet
It also comes drizzled with brown sugar sauce
Perfect for someone with a sweet tooth
This place, 🔸Woosa Western-style Pancakes🔸, is located on the second floor of Far East Sogo. On weekends, you might have to wait around 50 minutes for a table.
✅ Tomato Seafood Pasta 🍝
The portion size is just right. The tomato sauce is rich in flavor, and there are quite a few seafood pieces. However, there was a clump of noodles that got stuck together and couldn’t be separated. 😅
✅ Classic Radish Puree Hamburger Steak
When it was first served, I had a bad feeling. The portion was very small, not enough for a guy to feel full. The hamburger steak tasted a bit dry.
✅ Daily Soup - Creamy Corn Soup
The flavor is not bad, and there is a lot of corn in it.
✅ Aged Fruit Oolong Tea 🍵
The oolong tea is strong and has a slightly astringent taste, but it also has a pleasant aftertaste. Personally, I quite like it, but my friend, who doesn’t drink tea often, found it too bitter. Adding some lemon juice helped reduce the bitterness a bit.
✅ Mont Blanc Ice Cream Pancake
Their most famous dish is the pancake. The pancakes are indeed very soft, resembling soufflés, but they have a slight eggy taste. Pairing it with Angus sauce (vanilla sauce) can mask that somewhat.
Overall, I feel that the quality does not match the price point, but it is a suitable restaurant for families of all sizes. However, many families with small babies and young children made the environment noisy to the point that I had to raise my voice just to hear my friends. Although it’s not the restaurant's fault, this significantly affected my first dining experience.
🥞 Woosa Western-style Pancakes - Woosa Western-style Pancake House, Kaohsiung Dayuanbai Store
Located on the second floor of Kaohsiung Dayuanbai
It feels like the customers who come here are quite fashionable✨
This time, they had a promotion where adding them as a LINE friend gets you a free honey ice cream pancake
You still need to order any meal as a minimum spend‼️
I ordered a pot of fragrant apple, apricot, and peach blossom fruit tea (hot) to go with the dessert
Woosa specializes in soufflé pancakes
The thickness combined with being freshly made and hot is really comforting to eat🤤
Soft, fluffy, and melting in your mouth feels so blissful❤️
The ice cream had small crunchy ice bits that felt particularly cold
Not friendly for sensitive teeth❌
It's just regular vanilla ice cream, but I found it a bit too sweet
And I don’t think it pairs very well with the pancakes
Because pancakes are best enjoyed hot
Having ice cream that's cold feels a bit odd 🤔
Paired with the hot tea I ordered felt just right
The fragrant apple, apricot, and peach blossom fruit tea should be unsweetened
With just a light floral and fruity sweetness
It balances out the richness of the pancakes
If you come for a meal, there are savory options to choose from
Previously, I ordered a hamburger steak, and I thought it was quite good
But the price compared to the portion felt a bit high
I think ordering pancakes with a drink is more cost-effective
It depends on what type of meal you want to enjoy
I think the dishes all have a certain standard
But there’s a 10% service charge + a 2-hour dining limit
It’s not the kind of place where you can linger and chat for a long time during afternoon tea
This aspect is subjective~
🌄 Next to Aso Volcano, a rest time surrounded by mountains at Kusasenrigahama~
When we visited Kusasenrigahama, it happened to be around noon, so we ate at the adjacent restaurant. The overall environment was bright, clean, and spacious, and we could see the expansive mountain view outside the window, which was quite comfortable.
Considering it was a restaurant near a tourist spot, the prices were relatively affordable. There were many food options, including pizza and hamburgers, and ordering through a tablet was very convenient as it displayed pictures of all the dishes.
As for the taste, it was quite ordinary; the food probably used a semi-prepared cooking method, so there shouldn’t be too many expectations. If you can hold off on eating and grab some snacks nearby, it might not be necessary to dine here.
Visit the popular pancake shop at Taipei's Beijing Station - Woosa Western Style House Pancake Shop
Here, I’d like to share the promotions we have:
Two servings of pancakes + one drink + one serving of fried chicken for a total of $572
(Note: The bill hasn't deducted the price for one serving of pancakes yet.)
Everyone, make sure to add Woosa as a friend!
You'll receive a free "honey pancake" on weekdays when you order.
So for this meal for two (dine-in has a minimum spending requirement),
each person can enjoy one pancake complemented with fried chicken 🤤
Fried Chicken 🍗
I think the portion is decent,
with 4-5 large pieces.
However, I find the taste just okay,
the chicken flavor is a bit strong 😂
Squeezing some lemon makes it better~
But the skin is quite crispy.
Honey Pancake 🥞
Woosa’s pancakes are really fluffy and delicious,
paired with vanilla ice cream and honey sauce.
So indulgent but so tasty!
Mango Pancake 🥭
The mango pancake comes with mango sauce,
and mango ice cream ~
Also very delicious 🤤
But you can add some honey sauce for even more flavor!
Overall, I think Woosa pancakes are really tasty 😍
It's quite suitable for a gathering of sisters to enjoy afternoon tea and chat here.
But I find the fried chicken just average 🤣
Conclusion: If I lived nearby and happened to be a poor student wanting to eat something a bit more refined and Japanese-style, I would occasionally think of coming here to eat.
2024/08/16 (Friday) 18:00 Dine-In
No waiting required / Reservations or pre-made meals are available
Dine-in seats are 90% full / Minimum spend of 150 or one dish
Recently, I remember when "Mince and Rice" and "Ka" first came to Taiwan, creating a burger patty craze in Taipei, with reservations and on-site queues being almost impossible to secure. Even the Hutong Group couldn't help but open "Yaki no Mince" to follow the trend. However, many people may not know that Taipei already had many burger patty specialty shops quietly working hard and deeply rooted in the alleys, and they are still standing strong today.
I usually don’t come to Tamsui, but this time I stumbled upon a restaurant marked as serving Japanese-style burger patties on Google Maps and thought it must be very authentic. With high hopes, I went there.
🥩 Fried Beef Steak:
The steak can be ordered at different levels of doneness, it's cheap and big, offering great value for money. The meat quality is actually quite appropriate for its price range and comes with rose salt and steak sauce.
The batter isn’t very crispy, just average, but it tastes good when dipped in the sauce.
On the side, there are the usual pea shoots, shredded cabbage, and jalapeños; I must say, the jalapeños alone are quite delicious.
🥩 Pork Cutlet Spicy Curry:
The meal is served as a set (miso soup, white rice, and a small dish of edamame).
The curry sauce is a bit watery, but still acceptable; although labeled as spicy, it’s not actually spicy.
The rice is cooked quite well, which deserves praise!
The pork cutlet tastes as expected, probably a bit better than at Fukubayashi, with a thin and substantial batter.
When the plate is empty, the shredded cabbage helps with the greasiness.
🍖 Red Miso Sauce Hamburger Patty:
Smaller than I expected, the accompanying red miso sauce is slightly watery and has a hard-to-describe iron-like taste; however, the hamburger patty itself was fine.
It’s obvious that the patty is made from pork ground meat mixed with some tofu, not very airy but has a chewy texture, probably because the meat isn’t ground too finely, which is a good thing.
Also, there's still a somewhat meaningless pea shoot on top; maybe it lost its freshness after staying in the fridge for a while. I'm not a fan of it.
🧈 Sesame Sauce Tofu:
This dish! Super amazing! Today's MVP! Must-order!
The sesame sauce is very rich, not like the typical mixed salad dressing outside.
Paired with white sesame, seaweed flakes, and alfalfa sprouts, the selection and combination of ingredients are excellent; just using the alfalfa sprouts dipped in a bit of sesame sauce adds a refreshing taste that cuts through the heaviness.
However, the pea shoots paired with the tofu is perfect this time, as the flavor of the sesame sauce can overpower the taste of the pea shoots, and the cold dish is genuinely tasty.
In conclusion, I think the overall food at this restaurant meets expectations, although a few dishes were a bit disappointing, there were still delicious options.
One downside is that the seating space is not large; in a two-person ordering mode like ours, it can really fill up the entire table, which can be troublesome if you don't eat quickly.
This review will also be posted on Google Maps. Thank you for reading.
Multiple visits
But I always feel that it used to taste a bit better.
This meal:
Nagasaki-style hamburger steak meal $280
The Nagasaki-style meal comes with rice, tomato spaghetti, salad, and onion soup.
The hamburger steak is a blend of pork and beef topped with red wine beef sauce.
Actually, I have visited Tsurutaya multiple times.
When there weren't many hamburger steak places from Japan in Taipei,
Tsurutaya was always a favorite for hamburger steak.
The hamburger steak is still very tasty! But this time, I felt it wasn't as juicy as before (or maybe I’ve just tried more hamburger steak places...?
I really like the Nagasaki-style tomato spaghetti.
It’s totally the kind of pasta you find in a Japanese family restaurant for kids. 😆
The complimentary onion soup is really delicious!
Pork cutlet $120
This was my first time ordering the pork cutlet, and it performed adequately.
It's somewhat like a crispier version of the pork cutlet from Fukuzentake.
It was drizzled with pork cutlet sauce on top.
I've always thought Tsurutaya has a small drawback,
which is that the two-person table in the middle of the restaurant is too small and a bit crowded,
just like many Japanese chain diners. 😆
Although I feel it was better in the past,
I will continue to revisit.
Sometimes, what tastes good is also largely based on memories!
