A very popular Japanese Western-style restaurant, 90% of the customers are Korean. When I arrived, it was just opening time, and I was surprised to see some customers who seemed to have already finished eating. I wondered if they had booked the place or how long I would have to wait. After asking, I found out that a group had requested an early opening, and they had just finished their first round, so I could be seated immediately. But soon it filled up with Korean customers again.

The business is very good; I've heard there’s generally a line and it might even sell out early. The fried shrimp in the shrimp tempura set is made with tiger shrimp, which have a firm texture similar to lobster, and are large. The batter is fried to be very crispy, and the contrast of the crispy outer layer with the firm inside is something I really enjoy. The curry is Japanese-style curry, and I highly recommend it as well. Unfortunately, they didn’t have chicken thigh available because of the early opening, but I’ve heard that it’s also highly recommended. The place is clean, bright, and comfortable, and the service is quick and friendly. No wonder the business is doing so well.

[Taipei Da'an] HANNA Pasta Café

A restaurant decorated in an elegant style,
offering pasta, risotto, desserts, fried foods, and more.
On Friday nights, it was fully booked when I went with friends!
Here’s what we ordered that day.
/

✨ My personal recommendation
◽ Japanese-style bacon asparagus pasta - $280
> The noodles are thinner than regular round ones, which isn’t really my preference, but the thick bacon was delicious and the asparagus was tender.

◽ Baked mentaiko seafood penne - $330✨
> The baking is perfect! The seafood inside includes clams, squid (or maybe cuttlefish?), and shrimp (shrimp already peeled). It’s topped with mentaiko and then broiled.

◽ Combo add-on - $150✨
> Comes with bread, soup, and salad. The salad is dressed with sesame sauce, and the soup of the day is genuine corn chowder—there are bits of corn blended in. The bread is slathered in garlic sauce🧄, which is fragrant.

◽ Japanese-style fried chicken - $220
> Better eaten hot. It comes with lemon and tartar sauce, but I’m not really sure why tartar sauce, which is more suited for fried fish and chips, is served 🤔️

The following are what my friends ordered, with prices for reference:
◽ Japanese-style onsen egg chicken risotto - $290
◽ Omelette mentaiko pasta - $300
◽ HANNA rich cream mushroom meat sauce pasta - $310
◽ HANNA omelette meat sauce rice - $310
◽ Garlic shrimp and mushrooms - $220
◽ Truffle fries - $200 (my friend says the truffle sauce is delicious)
◽ Roasted seasonal vegetables - $200
◽ Basque cheesecake - $250 (it looked a bit dry)

Minefield restaurant, super question mark, I have no idea what I'm eating.

I ordered the pork chop set.
The pork chop is about 0.3 cm thick.
A scoop of white rice, a scoop of lettuce, a scoop of small dried fish, a cup of tea, and a bowl of soup.

Is this really 100???????
I really can’t tell if they’re selling this kind of price because someone died at home ==

My colleague ordered stir-fried udon
and also said it was really bad.

Any random shop nearby is really better than this one.
If the restaurant doesn't want to operate anymore, they should just close up and not mess with everyone.

#Open During the New Year

The operating hours during the New Year are the same as usual, from 11 AM to 11 PM. I went there on the fourth day of the New Year!

Salia is a well-known Japanese chain Italian restaurant that focuses on affordable Italian cuisine. The prices are generally low, you can get a plate of pasta for just over a hundred TWD, and the cost-performance ratio is quite good. However, I had never eaten there before, and during this visit to Ximen, I initially planned to eat at Tian Tian Li, but since it was closed for the New Year, I decided to try Salia instead.

First came the garlic bread, which was surprisingly quite good. It had a soft texture and enough garlic flavor, not too dry or hard, making it a nice starter. Next was the seafood chowder, which tasted rather ordinary. The bowl looked large, but it was actually a shallow dish, and the amount of soup was small; however, it was acceptable to eat it with the garlic bread.

The spicy chicken popcorn flavor was quite nice; the outer coating was a bit crispy, and it had the right level of saltiness. Although labeled as spicy, it was not spicy at all.

Then came the biggest disappointment: the pesto chicken pasta. This dish was completely unappealing. The pesto flavor was almost just olive oil with a little bit of basil; it lacked a rich pesto taste and was not salty enough, resulting in a totally flat eating experience. I had to get salt myself to add to it.

Overall, Salia is an affordable restaurant with some decent items. It should be suitable for students or customers who need big portions to fill up.

On the first day of the Lunar New Year, many street-side shops were closed, so we chose to dine at the New Moon Plaza, which is open year-round.

This time we ordered:
Grilled mentaiko burger patty - the patty is not dry, and with my favorite mentaiko, it's a simple yet filling dish.
Tender beef curry rice - the beef is tender, and the curry flavor is nice; they added an egg to enhance the richness of the flavor.
Rich mentaiko wide noodles and Parma ham cream pasta - both have very strong flavors, and I would like to order them myself next time.

I’ve been to Woosa quite a few times, and my favorite thing is their pancakes. The classic honey ice cream pancake was really impressive when I first tried it; the soufflé pancakes are super soft and pair well with the sauce and ice cream on the side. This time, I also ordered the lemon ice cream pancake. Although I still prefer the original flavor, it’s good for those who find it too sweet. If it weren't for the high calories, I could definitely finish a serving on my own.

I didn't expect to be able to make a reservation during the New Year period, so I quickly came to eat. I can only say that their pancakes are really impressive 👍 (I mainly came for the pancakes).

This time I ordered a new dish - creamy mentaiko wide noodles, which were quite delicious. However, I actually preferred the other new dish that my family ordered - cream fettuccine with Parma ham. Unfortunately, the portions were a bit on the smaller side.

This time, I added a pancake and drink set. The drink was hot thick milk tea, which was pretty standard.

The highlight is the pancakes! They were extremely delicious. I ordered one lemon and one original flavor. No matter which flavor, the pancakes themselves are really tasty 😋.

I can only say that anyone who wants to eat pancakes would definitely want to come here.

Location: Yilan City, Yilan County

Woosa has always been a very stable chain store, especially known for its amazing waffles. The savory dishes have always performed decently—average—but I have always had a favorite savory dish, which is the kimchi Matsusaka pork rice with tea. However, this time the menu has changed, and I am momentarily unsure of what to choose.

🌟 Cheese and Prosciutto Tagliatelle
This is what I ordered. When it arrived, there was a raw egg that I could stir in to make the pasta smoother. The prosciutto was a bit salty, which I’m not quite used to. Additionally, the new tagliatelle had a rather soft texture that I found unappetizing. The seasoning wasn’t bad, but it was just average.

🌟 Tender Shoulder Beef Curry Rice
This curry rice had a very generous portion. There was an egg omelet on top, adding another layer of texture. The beef was in the form of pan-fried slices, and the beef flavor was quite pronounced. The curry did not have much sweetness; it was more of a black curry, and it was fairly good.

🌟 Classic Honey Cloud Waffles
In my opinion, the most delicious food at Woosa is this dish. Whether in flavor or texture, it is incredibly tasty. I feel like it’s easy to finish an entire plate on your own because it’s so delicious. However, the calories prevent us from finishing it all. 🤣🤣

🌟 Lemon Cloud Waffles
Actually, the only difference from the classic honey version is the sauce that comes with it. The original comes with honey, while the lemon version comes with lemon-flavored sauce. When we added the sauce, it tasted a bit too sweet, so we only dipped into it. Still, it's very delicious.

Overall, it’s a dessert full of points, and the savory dishes are basically average for a chain restaurant. As more branches open, the queueing situation isn't as severe as before, which I think is great. Although in Taipei, we still often have to queue. 😂😂

【Foodholic Nako @ Kyoto, Japan】

"Saffron Saffron サフラン サフラン" is a Japanese Western-style restaurant. I added it to my list of must-try places in Kyoto after seeing it introduced in a YouTube video.

We arrived on Saturday around 1 PM and were able to be seated right away. However, the restaurant was filled with customers, so we were quite lucky not to have to wait.

The restaurant itself is in an old building, and the decor has a charming old Japanese style. There are seats on both the first and second floors. The first floor mainly has counter seats, while the second floor has regular tables and an area where you need to take off your shoes.

The menu is only in Japanese, so we used Google Translate to order. The staff's English wasn't very fluent, but they were friendly and cute.

Hamburger Steak + Fried Oyster Set Meal ¥1500
The hamburger steak is made from beef and has a strong beef flavor. It's moist and delicious, but towards the end, it feels a bit greasy.
There were only two fried oysters, but they were large, topped with tartar sauce, and super tasty—just to my liking! If I could do it again, I would probably just order the fried oyster set meal.
It came with a small bowl of spinach, lightly seasoned to taste the natural flavor of the vegetables, which was nice; next to it, the lettuce salad had a small portion of macaroni salad, which I absolutely loved—sweet and refreshing, it countered the richness of the meal.

This set meal also included a bowl of miso soup, which showed great sincerity. Not only was the soup hot and delicious, but it was also packed with ingredients, making it hard to tell whether it was soup or filling!

Environment
Unlike typical Japanese restaurants with elaborate decor, this place has a design more akin to traditional Chinese restaurants. Most of the seating is at round tables, and the dishes are primarily meant for sharing, making it more suitable for group dining.

Dishes
📍 Black Tuna Cheek 💰 Market Price
One of the must-order signature dishes every time I visit. It's recommended to call ahead 📞 to reserve, as the cooking time is longer. The restaurant perfectly controls the doneness, resulting in firm meat that retains its juices; it's delicious even without dipping in pepper salt. 😋

📍 Three-Cup Tuna Tail 💰 280
The tail of the tuna is seasoned with a three-cup method, packed with collagen. Its strong flavor pairs perfectly with white rice.

Parking
Scooters 🛵 can be parked at the entrance.
Cars 🚗 can find free parking along the nearby roadside or at the further Tanaka Market parking lot 🅿️.

#Keimi Tasty Café Taichung Gongyi Store

There wasn't anything particularly special about the dishes that I could share. The snowfish burger I ordered was 2.5 times larger than that from fast food restaurants, but the ingredients and the snowfish were just average. Essentially, the bread was larger to give you a satisfying amount of starch, along with a little more cabbage and salad dressing. As for the large latte I ordered, it wasn't really that big (about 400cc?); please forgive my limited capacity perception. Here are the main points about the store:

  1. QR code for ordering
  2. 2-hour dining limit
    • Divided into breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea, and dinner menus
  3. Minimum spend of 100 per person
  4. A 10% service charge is applied

The environment is serene, with a Japanese style; the all-wood decor gives a relaxing feel, and there are power outlets available at the seats, making it suitable for freelancers to create in peace.

No wonder I often saw a sign directing queue directions outside the store, yet there never seemed to be anyone in line!
