This is a place I’ve eaten at many times. This day was the day before Winter Solstice, and I came right after work when there weren't many people. The night of Winter Solstice had an incredibly large crowd.
▪️Sesame Oil Chicken Leg $160
▪️Sesame Oil Noodles (Small) $35
I usually order these two items. Sometimes if the chicken legs are sold out, I’ll get the Sesame Oil Chicken for $135, or the Sesame Oil Pork Loin for $135 (which is thick slices of pork). I’ve eaten here many times and it’s usually my go-to place when I want to grab something. However, I feel that the quality of the chicken leg can be inconsistent; I’ve had instances where it was tough to chew, possibly when it wasn’t stewed long enough. But when it’s done right, it’s very delicious, and the portions are quite generous. The sesame oil noodles come with a bit of greens, which I like to eat with soup.
Overall, it’s a favorite place of mine. I come here when I need to eat, as I usually take it home and haven’t dined in. But I’ve heard from friends that if you eat in, you can enjoy unlimited soup.
Taipei's well-known chain sesame oil chicken restaurant is very crowded in summer, but there are even more people when the weather is cold.
🍽️Environment
There are many tables in the store, but the number of people is average. Closing tables or serving meals will be affected when there are many people.
For dine-in use, first take the menu, find a seat, draw the order and then go to the counter to check out. It supports a variety of electronic payments and has electronic invoices.
The air-conditioning is not too cold at noon in summer, so the sauce section has peanut powder, coriander, soy sauce, soy sauce paste, and chili sauce that you can use.
🍜Meals
The meals are divided into clear soup series, sesame oil series and health series such as Siwu Chicken, Ginseng Chicken and Mushroom Chicken. There are also kidney pork liver and blood cakes that can be ordered a la carte as side dishes.
In addition to eating noodles directly, you can also order sesame paste noodles or rice.
Because the weather was too hot, I ordered fresh fish soup today for $80 plus pork liver + $20. I also ordered a bowl of white rice to eat simply.
The fresh fish part is Taiwanese sea bream. Personally, I don’t feel the earthy taste. The fish meat is tender and boneless. The extra pork liver is cooked just right. The clear soup is very refreshing when paired with the two. The white rice is just so-so. It would be better if you order sesame paste noodles. Quite a few.
In summary, you can try it, especially when the weather is cold, a bowl of sesame oil series or chicken soup is also very good.
Hengrun Fresh Sesame Oil Chicken is located diagonally across from Longen Braised Pork Rice in Siwei Night Market. The address is a bit difficult to determine because the shops in this row are all low-rise tin houses.
The simpler way to confirm is to use the relative address, which is opposite the store at No. 103, which is where the store is located.
Today we enjoyed sesame oil and kidney soup and a large bowl of sesame oil noodles, totaling 230 yuan.
Sesame oil and kidney soup:
The aroma of the sesame oil soup base is quite strong, and the kidneys are springy but not hard, making it very delicious.
The amount of kidneys is generous, making it a very cost-effective meal.
Sesame oil noodles:
The portion in the big bowl is pretty good, and the texture of the noodles is quite smooth when paired with the sesame oil.
When chewing, you can feel the aroma of sesame oil floating from your mouth to your nose, which is quite enjoyable.
The store also sells sesame oil soup as well as chicken combs and chicken butts, but the daily limit is limited. I didn't get to eat the chicken combs during my visit, which was a pity.
Overall, it is a delicious sesame oil restaurant. I hope to eat the store's big chicken combs next time I visit.
Recommended to everyone!
East Lake is a quite special area of Neihu.
Although the house number is Neihu District, the living area is almost aligned with Nangang and Xizhi, and not many are related to Neihu District.
And Lan’s Sesame Oil Chicken is in this area.
In fact, it is not that easy to find the store entrance. There is an arcade in the middle of the store from the roadside. You have to walk a little further inside to see the store entrance.
There is a big rabbit cage at the entrance of the store. The rabbit in the store is very cute. You can see him running and jumping out of the cage during off-peak hours in the afternoon. There used to be two of them, but unfortunately one of them passed away some time ago.
Today I had a set meal for one person. I chose pig as the meat and noodles as the starch (because I ran out of white rice).
The special meal for one person consists of four meals, sesame oil chicken (pork), starch, blanched vegetables, and tempura, priced at 150 yuan.
The sesame oil is full of aroma, and the mellow sweetness of the sesame oil matches well with the moderately thick inner muscles. The noodles are full of elasticity, and it is really a pleasure to slowly mix it into the hot sesame oil soup base.
The blanched vegetables are cabbage and king oyster mushrooms, garnished with minced meat. The leaves and mushroom bodies are quite tender and delicious.
The content of tempura is quite diverse. In addition to the standard sweet and spicy rice blood, there are also meatballs, ham and fish plates, etc. It is topped with a slightly sweet special sauce. The combination of salty and sweet can actually stimulate the appetite.
There is no rest time in the afternoon, so you have a high degree of freedom in dining. As long as you are walking around East Lake, I highly recommend you to try the delicious food here.
I ordered a meat-based set meal, which includes pork slices, beef slices, chicken slices, vegetables, dumplings, flower balls, staple food and side dishes. I chose spicy tofu. For the soup base, I chose Korean spicy soup, but it's actually not very spicy. The spicy tofu is very delicious, the marinade is very flavorful, and there are about 6 pieces in it.
This set meal is 175, but I think the portion is too small for this price. The environment in the store is comfortable and clean, but I probably won't visit again.
It is a very high-quality and replenishing chicken soup restaurant. Each branch has different decoration and food service, but I personally like the atmosphere and food of this restaurant very much.
The interior is warm and bright, and the menu is very simple and easy to understand. Generally, we recommend set meals. You can choose a chicken soup flavor (young chicken or native chicken) + side meal + rice and noodles. It will also come with a glass of winter melon lemon drink to complement your meal. To relieve tiredness.
Clam, Luffa and Chicken Soup ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I chose tender chicken. If you like the chicken to be tender and not too chewy, I highly recommend ordering tender chicken, and it’s cheaper. Most of the chicken is chicken leg meat, and the meat quality is not very good. The loofah is cooked to perfection, it’s great! The chicken soup is a bit bland but smooth to the taste. It is a mild clear soup that you can drink the whole bowl. There are about 6-7 clams in it.
Sesame oil dry noodles ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I am a noodle addict, so I can accept this bowl. The aroma of sesame oil and the red onions sprinkled on top are really fragrant and mouth-watering when mixed together. The noodles are cooked through and soft, so it is recommended to finish them first. Otherwise it feels like it will get soaked easily.
Water lotus ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
The crunchy water lily adds more texture to the whole set, and the green vegetables also make the dietary intake more balanced. I personally think it goes well with the chicken soup.
The dining environment is comfortable and the food is excellent. This branch is highly recommended!
*This store adopts self-service meal collection and self-service tray recycling
Drunken Medicine Chicken (I thought it was the "weakest chicken" at first, but later I learned that the chickens here are very strong and very fat!) - The interior design adopts a retro style, with brightly colored wall-mounted ceramic decorations, and the addition of Hong Kong-made human material heritage Accompanied by neon lights, the atmosphere is lively and full of freshness. The menu also offers Sichuan-Shanghai fusion dishes, including traditional delicacies such as the classic Thousand Cups of Drunken Fermented Drunken Chicken, Drunken Bitter Melon, Red Vinegar Black Cloud Fungus, Red Oil Chaoshou, and Boiled Fish Fillets, as well as dishes that combine tradition and innovation. Styles, such as the signature cold cuts made on demand, as well as a variety of drinks with blunt and boring names and no special features (the types and styles of drinks here have as much room for improvement as the Yangtze and Yellow Rivers!). In addition, both the lunch and dinner markets offer affordable set meals.
The Taiwanese G soup that is very prominent in Shipai Night Market is very suitable for replenishing food in cold weather.
The open kitchen at the entrance is very clean and hygienic, and the dining area inside is also bright and novel, which is a plus
📍Golden Clam Chicken Soup
It is the most expensive item in the chicken soup, but because I love clams and clams, I ordered it to try it. The soup is very sweet and has the umami flavor of clams. There are about 20 clams, each one has its shell opened, which is very good👌
📍Sesame oil dry noodles
Basically, there’s nothing to be picky about. The sesame oil is very fragrant, the noodles are just the right consistency, and there’s a lot of fried green onions. It’s super delicious!
📍Pig blood cake
It’s different from what you expected. It’s cut into thin slices so that the special sauce can completely cover the whole piece of pig blood cake. It tastes very full, goes very well with rice, and doesn’t stick to your teeth. I highly recommend it.
Overall, it is very in line with expectations. I feel very good about dining. I will be willing to come here often!
