First, let’s address the most important thing: please be sure to call ahead to place your takeout order!
There's a salt and crisp chicken place on Yongzheng Road that may not seem special at first glance, but you always have to wait at least half an hour, with my personal record being an hour and a half... So I recommend that anyone wanting to eat here should definitely call ahead to order and ask the owner how long it will take (and whatever time the owner gives you, add about 10 minutes or so~).
As for the fried items, I personally find the prices very reasonable. Having tried many salt and crisp chicken shops in Zhongyonghe, I ordered NT$260 worth and couldn't finish it 🫠🫠🫠, so I had to save it for late-night snacks the next day. The portion of the hundred-layer tofu is particularly large, and the prices for other types of fried food are also not high.
The biggest feature of this place is that they are very generous with the scallions and garlic, so if you're not a fan of those, make sure to tell the owner ahead of time, otherwise, you'll end up with an overwhelming amount of scallions and garlic that you can't finish!
This time, I ordered: salt and crisp chicken, squid, chicken skin, chicken heart, chicken butt, and hundred-layer tofu.
The innards are fried just right, retaining the juiciness of the ingredients without being too dry. Other fried items are also cooked just right and won’t turn out too tough or dry.
The only drawback is that you really have to wait quite a while, so I strongly recommend that anyone interested in eating here remember to call ahead to make a reservation.
🚩 Location 🧭
Located near the intersection of Lide Street and Zhongxiao Road in the East District of Taichung City, close to Taichung Elementary School.
🪑 About the overall atmosphere 🎡
In front of the shop, there’s a simple yellow signboard food truck. Next door, you can also buy a giant cup of iced red tea. Parking in front is based on luck, as there aren't many vehicles here. The shop supports various mobile payment options, using TW QR Code.
💰 About the prices 💰
Wavy fries $30+ French fries $30 + popcorn chicken $50 = Total $110
🍴 About the food ☕
It's recommended to call ahead for freshly fried items; the owner will tell you when to come back to pick up your hot, freshly fried food. It's really indulgent to eat fries at night, but freshly fried fries are truly delicious. The popcorn chicken is also crispy and tasty. However, the portion size feels a bit small.
🤨 Conclusion ♥
When I visited, there was no line. Next time, if I pass by and see no one, I might try their signature chicken cutlet. I deducted a point for the portion size.
The company is nearby, and Erhu has recently become everyone's favorite. This weekend, I specially brought my family to try it out. First of all, they open at 10:30 in the morning, so you can enjoy chicken cutlet early, which is fantastic! The staff is friendly, and we didn't have to wait for more than 10 minutes before 11 AM on the weekend. Usually, if you come during the weekday lunchtime, there tend to be more people, so you have to wait longer.
Today, we ordered the Find Fault Chicken set, which includes toffee black tea and oat fried chicken. If you want a drink, it's more cost-effective to order the set. The aroma of the toffee black tea is noticeable, and even if you order it without sugar, it won't be bitter; it's smooth and delicious. The oat fried chicken has an incredibly crispy coating, and the meat is tender with a great marinated flavor.
Additionally, the added zucchini was just as juicy as expected, and the same oat batter was also very crispy, making it a satisfying brunch set.

In the Chiayi Puzi Night Market, which is open only on Saturdays, there is a very famous Dongshan Duck Head right at the entrance, making it particularly eye-catching. Each time I pass by, I can see long lines of people waiting, indicating its immense popularity.
This place's Dongshan Duck Head is not greasy at all; it has a slight sweetness that isn't overly sugary. The perfect balance keeps people coming back for more. The skin is crispy, and the meat is so tender that it melts in your mouth, making it impossible to stop eating! For me, this is definitely one of the best Dongshan Duck Heads I’ve ever had, no wonder the business is always so good.
This roadside snack shop located opposite Shengkong Elementary School is one of the famous budget-friendly delights in the area. I specially came here on Saturday, and as expected, it lived up to its reputation with a constant stream of customers; I waited for about 30 minutes before my turn. Here are my tasting impressions:

Summary:
This stall attracts many repeat customers with its budget prices and solid flavors. Whether you're looking for snacks or filling fried foods, it's a good choice. However, due to its popularity, it's advisable to avoid peak dining times or be patient while waiting in line. Overall, this is a street food stall in Tainan that's definitely worth a try!

As soon as I got off work, I had to indulge myself with some salty crispy chicken! 😤
After searching around, I found this place that was still open past midnight.
My first impression was that the store was very clean—both the food displayed on the counter and the frying equipment.
But maybe it's also because the oil is very clean, the food lacked a certain richness. 😆
To get to the conclusion:
#You can add them on Line to place orders and pay
#The overall seasoning is salty but lacks aroma
#Paper box packaging, the ingredients include pickled cabbage, onions, and sliced garlic

Below are the items ordered and their prices 🔻
🔺 Salt Crispy Chicken (Large) $60
You can choose boneless; the meat is tender, but I feel the overall portion isn't very large.
🔺 Silver Thread Roll (with sweetened condensed milk) $25 👍🏼
Three pieces per order, fried to perfection—crispy outside and soft inside—pairing it with condensed milk is just sinful. 🥰
🔺 Sweet Potato Ball $35
Generous portion, the fried texture is similar to fish skin, but unfortunately, it's not my favorite and turns mushy when cold.
🔺 Chicken Skin $35
Crispy and dry, it has a good chicken flavor.
🔺百頁豆腐 (Baiye Tofu / Thousand Layer Tofu) $25
Retains its texture, the skin is soft but cut a bit large.
🔺柳葉魚 (Willow Leaf Fish) $40 👍🏼
Three pieces per order; the fish balls are plump but a bit over-fried, especially the tails which are dry.
🔺Chicken Heart $30
Four pieces per order, fried too dry.
🔺Scallion Beef Balls $40 👍🏼
Four pieces per order; you can't really taste the scallions, but the beef flavor is strong, very juicy.
🔺Green Pepper $40
One whole pepper, served separately in its own takeout box from the fried items.
(This was my first time using the camera feature, so I remembered to take photos the second time I came back! 🥲)
"Cao Lin Fried Chicken" is a mobile stall-style fried chicken shop, and I happened to encounter it at an event on Kabo Road. Such mobile stalls seem to be rarely fixed in one place, and there aren't many opportunities to chase after them to eat.
In terms of the experience at the time, the portion of fried chicken isn't large, with three small pieces in each order. Although the price is somewhat acceptable, it doesn't have any particularly shocking elements. The taste is quite standard and doesn't wow anyone. The chicken is reasonably tender, but it lacks any unique flavors. The hot dog was a bit disappointing, as there was noticeably less meat, and the casing was particularly thick, making the proportion of meat feel insufficient and not very satisfying.
Overall, it isn't a stall that would make someone want to visit it specifically, especially since it is mobile and harder to find in a fixed location. Perhaps for the passersby who encounter it by chance, it can be a little snack to satisfy hunger, but if someone doesn't happen to come across it, they probably wouldn't go out of their way to seek it out. In terms of cost-effectiveness, it's not particularly high, but also not low enough to be unacceptable; it’s more of a "eat when you come across it" type of place.
Located near the Cheng Huang Temple in Hsinchu, there is a fried chicken shop that has indoor seating. However, this time I got takeout, so I didn't see what it looks like inside.
This shop also allows you to choose whether or not to add sauce, and they even have options like Thai basil, raw garlic slices, and shredded onion available for you to choose from. If you don't add those options to your order, the staff will specifically ask if you need them. But I don't like adding those things when eating fried food, so I just skip them XD.
French Fries: $35
If you're at a fried chicken shop, you must try the thin fries with that red plum powder. I’m sure there are others who also prefer plum powder, right? 🥺 This shop is very generous with the amount of plum powder they add. Even after taking it to go, there’s still some plum powder left in the container ٩۹(๑•̀ω•́ ๑)۶. The flavor is really strong.
Chicken Nuggets: $35
These taste like red dragon chicken nuggets. Even after bringing them home, they remain crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, with juice inside.
Green Beans: $40
Just green beans.
Tainan Big Flat Cake: $25
It’s somewhat like black wheel slices that get cut into small pieces and fried. It has a nice chewiness to it, but it makes your mouth tired from biting XD.
This late-night salty crispy chicken shop really leaves a lasting impression! It's fried to a golden crisp, the outer layer isn't greasy, and every bite is full of flavor. The salt and crispy chicken with basil is especially recommended, as it tastes incredibly rich! There is a wide variety of toppings to choose from, so whether you want it spicy or moderately salty, customization is easy. The owner is warm and friendly, making it a great choice for a late-night eatery!
