Foodholic Niko @ Lanyu
"The Island Burger" is located in Dongqing village, just walk into the alley next to Dongqing village, and it’s quite eye-catching, very easy to find!
During the Qingming Festival holiday, Lanyu has a lot of visitors. However, since many restaurants are still on seasonal breaks, it really takes some effort to find a restaurant where you can eat without having to wait in line.
"The Island Burger" has enough space to accommodate about 20 people, and we were lucky enough to get seated without waiting; however, the food took a bit longer to come out, so everyone needs to be patient~
The burgers come in beef and pork varieties, and the sauce flavors are the same, including classic, old Mexican, peanut, berry, pickled, and flying fish roe.
I originally wanted to order the flying fish roe, but I don’t know if it’s because there aren’t many flying fish available at the moment (?), so the flying fish roe was already sold out.
I finally chose the special mixed berry hand-made pork burger for $280.
Although the price seems a bit high, it comes with a lot of fries and a drink. Personally, I think it’s quite worth it; I felt pretty full!
Let’s start with the drink. I chose lemon iced tea, and I initially thought it would be the ready-made kind, but it turned out to be made with real lemon juice and black tea, very genuine and tasty!
Next, the fries, which were crispy and delicious!!! I super love the fries from this shop!
Finally, here’s the burger itself, which is really cute just by looking at it, haha~
The bun was toasted quite well, and most importantly, the hand-made pork was juicy and tasty. The berry sauce was really special, and they gave a generous amount, pairing perfectly with the pork, sweet and tangy, quite delicious! Highly recommended!
Hidden beside the Tonghua Night Market in a small alley next to Sanxing Elementary School, "Butcher by LanPengYou" is a small burger shop with an American style. The location may be discreet, but once you try it, you'll want to come back!
(A little side note: I actually ate here five years ago, hahaha! Back then, I wasn't living in Taipei and made a special trip to eat here. This is my second visit!)
“Truffle. Truffle Cream Egg 3oz Beef”
There are options without meat and with meat, but as a super meat lover, of course, I had to go for the meat! This dish is a must-order for truffle fans! The aroma of truffle is rich and enticing, paired with homemade mayonnaise, caramelized onions, and a creamy egg, every bite is a perfect combination of fragrant, rich, smooth, and tender. Especially that juicy burger patty, so full of meat flavor 🤤
“RICARDO. Lucado”
The name is interesting, and the layers of flavor are rich. Although it comes with hot sauce, the spiciness is actually mild, just the right touch. The combination of sesame leaves and grilled onions adds extra points, and when paired with maple bacon and cheddar cheese, the sweet and salty contrast creates a vivid flavor profile—it's a very memorable burger 🍔
“Side Dishes”
The cheese potato balls are crispy on the outside and gooey on the inside, the fries have a firm texture, and the butcher wings are satisfyingly spicy but full of flavor. The side dishes are great for sharing with a group, with everyone trying a few different options~
In summary, this place uses good quality ingredients and has distinctive flavors, and the portion sizes are quite generous. After finishing your meal, the feeling of happiness (and perhaps guilt) is off the charts XD. Tonghua Night Market is always crowded, and if you're in the area, this is definitely a place worth checking out!
A little side note: It wasn't raining when I left yesterday, but after we finished eating, it started pouring, and I thought a typhoon was hitting. The staff were super kind and lent my friend and me two umbrellas 🥹 so warm-hearted!!
♢ Little Cuba Burger ♢
Location: Located near the Yanping County King Temple, about a two-minute walk away.
Dining Environment: Clean and bright.
Ordering Method: Scan the QR code for online ordering.
I previously had the Cuban fried meat pie, and I remember the portion being small and the price rather high, so I wouldn't want to order it again.
If you can't finish a full order of fries but want to try a little, you can add a portion of fries in the burger!
I haven't been here in a long time; the taste is pretty similar to before, but the prices have increased quite a bit 🥲 I highly recommend the meat sauce/MOJO pork fries, topped with plenty of cheese, which is very satisfying (though high in calories).
This is the Dali Lai Ji Pork Chop Bun located on the street of Rua de Camoes in Macau. On the first day of my trip to Macau, I planned to stroll along this street and coincidentally saw many recommendations for this place on Threads, so I stopped by to give it a try.
This time, I ordered three dishes for a total of $146 MOP:
Pork Chop Pineapple Bun: $55
Pork Chop Pineapple Croissant: $65
Iced Lemon Tea: $26
I finally got to taste the legendary Dali Pork Chop Bun. The store thoughtfully provided gloves for easy eating. The pork chop was fresh and free of any gamey taste, and the seasoning was just right, paired with the slightly crispy pineapple bun, which had a nice overall texture. The croissant version had more layers, and its flaky texture was quite special.
The store is not big but has a strong vintage feel. The turnover rate is fast, so you don't have to wait long for a seat. However, overall, the prices are a bit high, and the iced lemon tea was rather ordinary. It's good for trying out new flavors, but I may not want to visit again.
#Vegetarian
Located in Queenstown, Fergburger is a well-known burger joint offering a variety of flavors. This time I ordered the lamb burger, which had a sturdy bun, fresh and crisp vegetables, juicy meat, and perfectly balanced seasoning, making for a satisfying overall experience.
Due to the frequent queues inside the restaurant, it's recommended to call ahead to make a reservation. This way, you can check the status of your order on the official website and reduce waiting time. The restaurant is open from early morning until the early hours of the morning, catering to dining needs at various times.
First, the conclusion: The hamburger is rich and delicious, and the desserts are relatively refreshing. It's highly recommended for group dining!
There aren't too many tables, and the restaurant pays a lot of attention to customer experience, so you can only enter when the number of people is sufficient! (Very important❗️)
The minimum spending per person is basically 300 NT dollars. We came with seven people and ordered a four-person party sharing meal + a two-person queue sharing meal + a salad and drinks (to meet the minimum spending requirement).
The platter was somewhat ordinary compared to the other dishes. The hamburger bun was grilled to perfection, and the flavor was amazing!
We preferred the mushroom sauce for the pasta, but both dishes were fantastic 🤤.
As for the desserts, whether it's the cinnamon apple or the peanut banana pancakes, they both tasted wonderful, and everyone couldn't stop praising the pancakes🤣.
Macau has many unique and special dishes that are quite different from those in Taiwan. One of them is the pork chop bun, which, as the name suggests, is actually a Macanese-style pork chop burger. A friend from Hong Kong recommended that I try this place called Tai Lei Loi Kei.
The pork chop bun in Macau is very special; unlike in Taiwan where it’s a combination of meats, this is just a piece of freshly fried pork chop with the bone still in, tucked inside the bun. The meat is extremely juicy and tender, and it’s best to eat it as soon as it’s served. I initially thought the lack of ingredients would make it feel greasy the more I ate, but surprisingly, the bun absorbs the greasiness just right, creating a smooth texture that doesn’t leave your mouth dry.
For my drink, I ordered the yuenyeung milk tea, which was quite good and not too sweet. I originally wanted to order other dishes as well, but there are just too many delicious things in Macau, so I had to save some space for other dishes. Otherwise, there are quite a few other burgers I’m curious to try.
I recommend coming early and avoiding peak dining hours to successfully escape the terrifying tourist crowds and truly enjoy the food.
This is a newly opened hamburger restaurant in the Far Eastern Plaza. Perhaps because it’s new and offers a new taste, there are quite a few people queuing to place their orders, so the wait time for food can be quite long (by hamburger joint standards). Additionally, they often sell out and close early.
Seeing so many people in line, I was naturally curious, so I ordered a cheeseburger to give it a try.
First of all, this restaurant claims to use unique sauces and locally sourced vegetables, but I couldn’t taste any sauce at all, let alone anything unique; as for the cheeseburger, it really just included cheese, beef, and bread (the bun). There were no locally sourced vegetables, which might not have been included for this particular item, but it felt a bit strange.
Overall, it wasn't hard to eat, but I would much rather go to McDonald's.
🍔 Flavored Cheese Burger (Taiwanese Pork Patty) $268
| Locally sourced lettuce, sautéed onions, pickles, tomatoes, signature sauce, hamburger patty, cheese slice, sweet crushed melon |
Even though I ordered the small S set, I still felt full after finishing it.
The staff was very nice to remind us that drinks could be refilled, but after eating the burger and fries, I could barely finish one cup. (The cups are quite large! 🤣)
The hamburger patty is very juicy, and the melted cheese slice combined with the sauce is a deliciously indulgent pairing. The lettuce and tomato are essential supporting characters in the burger, providing a refreshing texture, making it feel light even after finishing the whole burger.
And of course, a burger has to be paired with fries, and the fries are tasty! 🍟
This is a place I would revisit when craving a burger and fries. 🥳
