[New Taipei City, Tucheng] Enjoy Tofu Pudding
There are still many people dining in during the evenings on weekdays. I made a special trip to explore the store on a Sunday afternoon. You can choose whether you want soybean milk or sweet syrup with your tofu pudding. (Dine-in customers can request additional sweet syrup or soybean milk with their tofu pudding once.)
As it gets colder, a warm bowl of "burnt grass jelly" is also very suitable. I personally really love the slightly thick texture of burnt grass jelly. The variety of toppings is very diverse and fresh, and the portion sizes are substantial. I highly recommend it to those living nearby!

🎉 Ice powder desserts are so colorful 🎉
🎉 Nutritious lotus root powder is so healthy 🎉
This is a unique dessert from mainland China, starting in Taichung and becoming popular in Taoyuan 😍. The colorful ingredients clearly make it a great Instagrammable food 😁, and with 12 different flavors, it's overwhelming to choose from 😵💫. On hot days, you can opt for ice powder, and on cold days, there's lotus root powder to satisfy cravings – truly a blessing for dessert lovers 😆.
Rose lychee ice powder: (80 NTD)
Once you get it, it’s super eye-catching with a colorful display. It includes toppings like pearls, small taro balls, sweet potato balls, coconut jelly, dragon fruit pieces, and more 😳. It’s refreshing and icy, and the ice powder itself has no flavor, but the texture is smooth like aiyu jelly. Today, I chose rose lychee, which adds a floral fragrance; I personally find it very delicious 😋.
Brown sugar soft glutinous lotus root powder: (80 NTD)
The lotus root powder, after being brewed with hot water, transforms into a thick semi-solid. When you add handmade brown sugar along with taro balls, red beans, nuts, barley, red dates, pearls, hawthorn, sesame, and other nourishing ingredients 🤩, it essentially becomes a Chinese-style eight-treasure porridge 😆. Taking a bite offers a rich texture with the crunch of nuts, the chewy pearls and taro balls, and the creamy red beans, making it incredibly satisfying. It’s also very filling and can serve as a meal replacement 😆, plus it’s not overly sweet, making it suitable for general tastes 🎉.
In summary:
Sweet tooth enthusiasts can come to try out these desserts that are quite different from the norm. However, parking on the street can be tricky, so it's recommended to ride a bike to purchase them.

A favorite spot of my friend's. I visited in September and had the mixed herbal jelly for $50, and this time I came back for takeout since I was near.
▪️Ice herbal jelly with eight treasures $50
▪️Herbal jelly pudding with eight treasures $55
·Red bean·Green bean·Flower beans·Taro·
·Tapioca·QQ·Almond·Taro balls·
This time I ordered two options, both from the ice herbal jelly series, only different in whether they had milk or not. My favorite part is that I can choose from eight toppings without quantity restrictions, so I can add them all. I usually add green beans, taro, tapioca, QQ taro balls; the taro is super delicious with both chunks and paste, and the taro balls are great too. The other toppings are all very chewy, and the bowl is really full, making it very filling. The herbal jelly has a more liquid texture rather than being solid.
Additionally, my friend adds almonds, specifically the almond tofu style, which he enjoys but I personally don't like the taste of almonds. The lower row of toppings can generally be referred to as chewy items, which makes ordering quicker.
Overall, it’s simple, inexpensive, and delicious. The only downside is that it's tough to park near the main road at the intersection. If there was one near my home, I would probably visit often 😂
I have heard that this kind of sweet soup shop is very popular before.
Actually, there are many in ancient towns or old streets in China!
I was attracted to the shop by the dishes 🍮 being served to the diners at the entrance...
Because they looked really beautiful, even though I saw that reviews in China were not high... I still dared to give it a try!
Nowadays, the ordering method in China is mostly... scanning the QR code on the table, and then you can access the menu to place your order and pay 💰.
It is indeed very convenient...
However, since there is no physical menu 📖... I accidentally ordered too much...
Among the dishes, I highly recommend...
❤️ Osmanthus Rice Wine Mochi
Mainly because I personally really love the fragrant floral scent of osmanthus, every time I smell it, I feel very relaxed and it’s not too overpowering—actually quite nice! Plus, rice wine 🍶 is very good for women, so I also like to have some rice wine occasionally. Combining two things I like, paired with a very special mochi...
Why do I say it's special? Because the mochi you usually eat is more solid, a bit chewy, and sticky! But here, the mochi feels semi-liquid; you can slightly feel that sticky mochi sensation... but it’s also somewhat drinkable, and it has a bit of a chewy texture in the mouth! So it’s not overly sweet, yet fragrant, and comes with a very unique texture—I must admit... it’s truly delicious!
If this shop were near my home, I would want to visit occasionally for a bowl 🥣.
The other sweet soups are also very beautiful—and they’re not just good-looking, they are actually very tasty, quite different from the reviews by locals! Maybe they're more suited for us Taiwanese! If you have the chance—don’t miss out!
The atmosphere feels like a long-established old shop, located near Taoyuan Guangsan SOGO. The average spending is about 60↕️. I ordered the grass jelly with milk, and it turned out differently than I imagined. I really love the grass jelly with milk from beverage shops, and I always want half grass jelly and half milk❗️ The lightly sweetened version doesn't have much flavor. This one has about 80% grass jelly and the rest is milk, so the whole cup comes out black... estimate was off🤣. For those who love grass jelly, you can definitely get a strong grass jelly flavor here...👍🏻
There is a parking lot about 300 meters away🅿️.
The Ganwu Dessert Shop at Carrefour Guilin is one of my favorite dessert and drink places, located on the first floor of Carrefour Guilin. The exterior of the shop is filled with a refreshing Japanese style, and the blue color scheme makes it very relaxing.
Today, I enjoyed the Starry Sky Grass Jelly Tea, priced at 75 NT dollars.
Starry Sky Grass Jelly Tea:
Although I couldn't take a photo of the inside of the cup, this grass jelly tea is really impressive. It uses grass jelly from Guanxi, Hsinchu, which is already famous, so I won’t go into detail about that. The toppings of honey pearls, colorful balls, and small taro balls also have a great texture. The richness of the toppings makes it sweet enough that it tastes great without sugar.
Previously, there was also peach blossom jelly as a topping, but unfortunately, it has been out of stock for some time. Peach blossom jelly is made by extracting from the bark of peach trees and simmering it with white fungus, resulting in a texture that is a holy grail for jelly lovers. I was hooked after trying it just once.
Overall, it’s a dessert drink shop with a very rich selection of Japanese-style items. Although I haven't tried their ice treats in the dining area, it should also be a nice experience. After enjoying the delicious food, strolling around the Decathlon on the first floor or Carrefour upstairs would make for a perfect afternoon.
I recommend it to everyone!

"Yueyang Tofu Pudding" is located near Xingtian Temple Station, about a 2-minute walk from Exit 3. We happened to find this little shop today while looking for a place to have dessert after our main meal. It seemed to be doing well, with a steady stream of customers coming for takeout.
The shop has a semi-outdoor space but provides small fans. There are very few seats for dining in—there are no tables, only a countertop, which can accommodate about 6 people at most.
When ordering the tofu pudding, you can choose to have it with normal ice, light ice, or no ice.
The owner is very friendly; you can ask for extra spoons or ice without hesitation.
Signature Yueyang Tofu Pudding - $70
The original toppings include tapioca pearls, taro balls, sweet potato balls, and almond jelly. We arrived around 7:30 PM, and the owner mentioned that they had run out of tapioca pearls, so they substituted with taro and sweet potato balls.
The sweet potato balls had an impressive texture—very firm and chewy, with a strong sweet potato flavor that felt very authentic (I believe the taro balls are the same, but I didn't try them since I don’t eat taro).
The almond jelly was a bit of a special topping, but I found it quite complementary to the tofu pudding.
Kumquat Lemon Tofu Pudding - $80
I personally recommend not getting this with light ice; it's better to choose normal ice because if it’s not cold enough, the kumquat lemon base can taste a bit odd. The acidity is gentle, so those who are afraid of sour flavors can still enjoy it. This has only tofu pudding without any other toppings, and the flavor is refreshing. However, overall, I still prefer the signature tofu pudding.
In general, the tofu pudding is quite good; the downside is that it is a bit pricey, but it’s still enjoyable for an occasional treat.
No matter where you live, when you search for the keyword "waffles" on Google, it seems like this cabin-style waffle shop always pops up 🧇. They have many branches from north to south!
This was my first experience, and luckily the Fengyuan branch nearby is open from 9:30 AM to 9:30 PM, so you can choose it for breakfast or late-night snacks. I thought I could try a couple of flavors without feeling too full, but I was terribly wrong 🤚🏻. Next time, I will learn my lesson and order just one.
Here, the waffles are flat and grid-like, similar to sponge cakes rather than crispy ones. The good thing is that they are not greasy or heavy; overall, they are quite refreshing. The overall experience was average, but if you're craving waffles, they are a decent choice to satisfy your hunger!
✐ Vanilla Custard Waffle $65
· A pretty classic flavor, if you're not sure what to get, just choose this one. The key is they are very generous with the filling.
✐ Matcha Red Bean Waffle $75
· The red bean paste has lots of bits with a moderate sweetness. The matcha flavor is strong without being artificial, and the combination of the two is just right 🍵🫘.
✐ White Peach Fragrant Oolong $40
· The peach flavor is overwhelmingly strong, and I personally do not recommend it. There is some tea fragrance, but not much. The peach aroma fills your mouth and nose with just one sip. A possible advantage is that your breath smells pleasant afterward (?)
I didn't expect a drink shop to sell egg waffles! And they taste really good 😋 Super fragrant with a rich milky flavor. Made fresh to order, you have to wait 5-10 minutes. I ordered the classic combo for $55 (original flavor x1, custard x2, pearl custard x2). You can try all the flavors at once, definitely a top recommendation for those who have a hard time choosing! The pearls are super chewy, and it's so delicious when eaten hot 🤤
Heipo Hall San Chung Chinese Store is located on Zhonghua Road next to the Zhongshan Bridge in San Chung. Although the area mainly consists of residential neighborhoods, it remains quite lively.
Heipo Hall seems to be an emerging chain of hand-shaken drinks, with little information available on the official website, and its branches are quite dispersed; there is only one each in San Chung and Luzhou in New Taipei City.
Today, I enjoyed Taiwan's Dong Pian Si Ji Chun, priced at 30 NT dollars.
Taiwan's Dong Pian Si Ji Chun:
Due to the hot weather, I chose it with reduced sugar and normal ice. The flavor of Dong Pian Si Ji Chun is very smooth, and the reduced sugar does not overshadow the tea's charm but rather highlights its flavor even more.
This item has won a two-star award from the Belgian iTQi International Taste Institute, and I think it truly deserves it. I believe the unsweetened version should also be quite good, so I might challenge myself to try it next time I pass by.
Overall, it is an emerging chain of dessert drink stores. The shop also sells ice products and tofu pudding, so nearby residents might want to give it a try. After all, this isn't something that's suitable to carry around for consumption, so I won’t consider that.
I recommend it to everyone.
