At three-thirty in the afternoon, the shop is almost full. The crispy exterior and soft interior of the stinky tofu costs 55 TWD, served with a generous portion of pickled cabbage and shredded cucumber. You can choose between spicy or non-spicy. Watching the owner hustle around without a moment's break, you can tell that the flavors are beloved by connoisseurs. When customers greet the owner, it's clear that the taste is popular among regulars. This small market shop makes you want to come back for more of its stinky yet fragrant dishes.
I ordered two types of pies: the bacon salmon pie and the mushroom beef pie. The bacon salmon pie has a crispy crust, and the filling is a rich white sauce with salmon and bacon that pairs well together; it's definitely the restaurant's signature dish. The mushroom beef pie is also tasty but doesn't leave a strong impression.
There were also quite a few freshly baked desserts on-site, and the selection looked abundant. However, the coffee's taste was rather average. Overall, it's worth a try, especially the signature flavors.
It seems there is a restaurant that also offers traditional kaiseki cuisine with private dining services. There is a second floor that I didn't go up to, and I'm not sure if the first floor only sells set meals; however, the place feels like a strong and experienced establishment. It's clean, comfortable, and bright, and it seems that many celebrities have visited, like many Japanese restaurants, they also broadcast baseball games.
The akajita-don is a fried shrimp rice bowl, and most of the other tables were ordering this. We ordered the kurojita-don, which is a crab rice bowl. The batter is soft and crispy, and while the crab meat is quite sweet and fresh, there isn't much of it. The fried shrimp with soba noodles was very warming to eat in the snow, but the fried shrimp was different from the one in the akajita-don, so we later ordered an additional akajita fried shrimp. It was tasty but not spectacular.
The set meals come with pickled vegetables that can be purchased separately, which are really good.
Hillary is a chain of traditional bakeries in Taitung. In addition to bread, they also offer traditional fruit birthday cakes, and the atmosphere inside the entire shop retains the look of a bakery and cake shop from before the 1990s.
Usually, when I come to this store, I buy their toast as breakfast. They have a wide variety of toast flavors, including turmeric, multigrain, red yeast toast, and more. They also sell toasted bread edges, and a large bag is only 50 NT dollars.
Next time, I might want to buy one of their cakes to try.

▶ Hakka Salted Pork Spicy Carbonara Gnocchi (Dine-in Only) $250 ◀
On top, there’s a soft-boiled egg. The seasoning of the salted pork is excellent—not too salty but full of flavor. It has a mild spiciness, but since it’s based on a creamy flavor, the slight heat makes it less heavy! The gnocchi is very chewy and delicious, but the portion is quite large, and because it’s all pasta, it can be quite filling!
▶ Braised Pork with Mushroom and Pesto Gnocchi $250 ◀
This dish is super popular among many patrons. The pesto is very rich and thick, so it clings to each gnocchi, ensuring every bite is full of flavor—no worries about it being bland! The braised pork performs as expected!
This is a restaurant in Taipei with multiple branches where you can enjoy sukiyaki and shabu-shabu.🥩 At first glance, the prices may not seem that cheap, but the ambiance of the restaurant feels luxurious, and it's recommended for when you want to eat high-quality meat to your heart's content.✨
【Atmosphere Rating】★★★★ 4
The interior of the restaurant was elegant. I made a reservation for a weekday night and waited about 10 minutes before being seated. The space was spacious, and even with many customers, I was able to eat comfortably and slowly!
You can choose from two types of soup, and orders for the all-you-can-eat items are made via QR code. The male staff member in a suit came to ask every 10 minutes or so what we needed, and we could order from him as well.
【Food Rating】★★★★ 4
Overall, the ingredients were very fresh. The meat was a rich red, beautifully cut, and very tender. The vegetables were vibrant in color, and I was very satisfied with the quality!
Sukiyaki
There were sauce and dashi (broth) available at each table, allowing you to adjust the thickness to your taste. As it cooked, the flavor became richer, and you definitely need to add a lot of dashi. 😳 You can order not only rice but also udon, making it delicious all the way to the end!
Miso
The miso was slightly spicy but not overwhelmingly so, and it was delicious! There were ingredients that are not typically added to sukiyaki, so I personally think it might be better to order another soup along with the sukiyaki for a tastier experience!
【Overall Rating】★★★★ 4
You can fill up on high-quality ingredients, so I think it offers good value for money! The staff were kind, making for a very pleasant dining experience.✨

It opens at 11 o'clock. When I entered around 11:30, there were no other customers. After placing my order, several groups of customers came in; the business is doing well.
All dishes are freshly made to order, and you may need to wait when there are more people.
Utensils, sauces, and soup (today's is seaweed and egg drop soup) are self-service. The utensils are not single-use 👍

When they didn't have so many branches, I visited the Yongkang store. My impression of them was that the space was simple and comfortable, but it was a bit noisy with people coming and going, making it not very suitable for reading or working. The pudding was super delicious, and the tea was quite good as well. Later I found out that they opened quite a few stores one after another, and this time I happened to be nearby, so I stopped by to buy something.
▪️ No. 18 Red Jade Slow-Cooked Brown Sugar Pudding $80
I remembered that their tea was impressive, so I chose the tea-flavored pudding. The texture is very smooth, not the chewy kind, and the tea flavor is quite strong, with the caramel also being very tasty! However, it lacks the egg fragrance of the pudding because the tea flavor is more pronounced. Overall, I still really liked it!!
In general, my previous impression of other desserts was that they were not expensive but the quality was average. I'm not considering buying savory items for now, and while the flavors are quite traditional, the prices are a bit on the trendy side. This 3-star rating is entirely for the pudding~ I want to try the original flavor next time, and I would probably still repurchase their pudding items in the future.
This hand-pulled noodle shop, which I've been eating at since childhood, still retains that familiar taste to this day.
The hand-rolled noodles are chewy and firm, with a subtle wheat aroma. The overall flavor is mild but not monotonous, making it suitable for those who prefer a natural taste and do not favor strong flavors.
If you're adventurous with spice, I highly recommend adding the house chili sauce—it instantly enhances the aroma, adding depth to the entire bowl of noodles and making it even more delicious.
Be sure to add a half-boiled egg! The rich yolk blends smoothly with the noodles, enhancing the dish significantly.
As for the broth, I think it's optional; the main attraction is still the combination of the hand-pulled noodles and the soul-warming chili sauce.
Sometimes it's the older generation manning the ladle, and other times it's the younger generation taking over, resulting in slight differences in flavor, especially with the peanut sauce not being fully perfected yet. I hope they can gradually refine that taste and continue to pass down this bowl of nostalgic noodles.
