Located in the Salt Industry area of Yongkang, Tainan, "Rui Rui Jia Yummy Mushroom and Free-range Chicken Soup" is a small shop specializing in health-focused soup dishes. I became curious after seeing their sign and decided to give it a try. They don’t have many soup options; their main offering is the Yummy Mushroom and Free-range Chicken Soup, which can also be mixed with pork ribs. Besides soup, they also sell rice rolls, but I didn’t order them this time.
The broth of the Yummy Mushroom and Free-range Chicken Soup has a complex flavor, with a hint of medicinal herbs that distinctly sets it apart from regular chicken soup. The chicken is cooked to perfection — incredibly tender and almost melts in your mouth, which gives off an authentic feel. The inclusion of the Yummy mushrooms enhances the overall aroma and flavor, making it a less common pairing. The tea served is also a highlight of the shop and is provided for free, offering a refreshing and slightly sweet taste.
I ordered the minced pork rice. Although it pairs conveniently with the soup, the taste is rather ordinary, relying heavily on the soup to stand out. Additionally, the prices are a bit on the high side; a bowl of soup costs 150 TWD, which might be a bit much for the local consumers, explaining why there aren’t many diners inside. To put it into perspective, the soup and rice combination for 180 TWD could get you all-you-can-eat at nearby hot pot restaurants.
Despite this, the soup here indeed possesses a unique charm. If one is willing to pay for quality, I personally think it’s worth revisiting. However, the long-term viability will depend on market acceptance.
I have visited multiple times; the portions are large and cheap, with many choices available, including Western, Chinese, and Korean dishes. It's a great option for breakfast/lunch!!
My favorite is definitely the high CP (cost-performance) set menu series ($70), and the set menu truly lives up to its name with a super high cost-performance ratio! This time I ordered the ham economic set, which includes salad, ham, toast, and eggs. You can choose between soft-boiled or hard-boiled eggs, and the iced milk tea is delicious. Every time I dine in, the drinks are served in a cup that's generously filled—very satisfying!
I also ordered the mentaiko creamy bacon spaghetti ($95). Personally, I think the noodle dishes at the restaurant are above average, whether it's the Jakarta instant noodles, kimchi pork, or this time's bacon spaghetti—all very tasty, with a high cost-performance ratio!
Additionally, the restaurant occasionally offers special dishes; I recently ordered pork chop egg toast + iced milk tea ($65), which is quite a bargain! Highly recommended! 👍
Reviewer comment: There is no toilet at the roadside stand.
The pancake from this "Delicious Clams Cake" stall has quite distinctive characteristics, especially its firm texture and sweet flavor. The outer layer is crispy, while the inside is dense, giving it a different taste from typical pancakes, with a milder milk flavor and a more layered eating experience.
However, there are hygiene issues; handling money and then preparing food may raise concerns. Additionally, lines on Sunday afternoons indicate its popularity. If you're near the Zhonghe Temple area, it's worth a try.
Pingtung's newly opened bento shop in August - 小吉腿庫飯 (Xiao Ji Leg Rice). The white sign with red characters is indeed distinctive, and the simple and straightforward name immediately tells you that it specializes in classic leg rice, creating a vibe reminiscent of old Taiwan.
Pork leg rice 💰100, cooked thoroughly, with a slightly sticky gel-like texture, and the parts with tendons have a nice chewiness, making it very enjoyable to eat. The white rice is drenched in their braised sauce, which is sweet and salty, making it very complementary with the rice. Unfortunately, the selection of side dishes isn’t very diverse, with only two florets of broccoli and dried bamboo shoots, which can feel a bit bland after finishing the meal.
Store Introduction
In recent years, issues such as food safety crises and food shortages have garnered increasing attention. The chef at Sleepy Coffee hopes to improve the environment with their small efforts. Therefore, they started as an apprentice who didn't even know how to hold a kitchen knife, learning and continuously improving themselves at various renowned restaurants. After gaining expertise, they chose to return to their hometown – Taoyuan – to open a store. At Sleepy Coffee, we meticulously select a variety of fresh and safe ingredients, hoping to create a secure dining environment for everyone! After reading this, I feel like I have to support this place! It’s a child- and pet-friendly environment that is very comfortable and relaxing. I originally wanted to order the Eggs Benedict, but it was sold out. Instead, I ordered the smoked salmon and a meat and egg roll. The hash browns were delicious and made with real ingredients, reflecting the owner’s dedication. I even made friends with the blueberries, haha! So much care put into this!

Hu Guo-Xiong Traditional Noodles - 4/5 🌟🌟🌟🌟
This is my second visit to Hu Guo-Xiong Traditional Noodles.
Last time, I felt like I had to come back right after I finished my meal.
The taste is really nostalgic and delicious ❤️
The indoor decor is simple, yet it has a warm, nostalgic feeling.
Even though there is only a ceiling fan and no air conditioning, it’s just right in winter.
It doesn’t feel stuffy during the meal, and the air circulation is quite good.
This time, I ordered the signature soup noodles and braised pork rice.
The noodles aren’t too salty, but the slices of meat on top are a bit tough, though it doesn’t affect the flavor.
The braised pork rice is stewed perfectly, fatty but not greasy,
and it pairs well with a bowl of hot soup.
The side dishes are also impressive.
The Shaoxing wine jelly egg has a subtle wine aroma that is not overwhelming at all.
It’s very flavorful and a must-order item.
The portions for the side dishes are a bit small,
but they complement the main course perfectly.
The downside of this place might be the smaller portion sizes.
You might need two bowls of noodles to feel full.
Hu Guo-Xiong Traditional Noodles is perfect for those who want a nostalgic experience
and a simple home-cooked meal.
The culinary gems of Puli are hidden in such a humble corner,
so don’t miss out!
A specialty chicken rice restaurant near Xingtian Temple Station. I was planning to go for my intended chicken rice after work, but since it was sold out, I came here instead! It was nice that this place stays open relatively late compared to other nearby restaurants!
【Atmosphere of the Restaurant】
The atmosphere is open and it's comfortable to dine alone! Even if you order to eat in, the food comes out on a tray like a bento box. Cleanup is self-service, so I thought it was great for quietly enjoying a meal 🙆🏻♀️
【Food Evaluation】
I thought the menu was a bit limited, but the food was delicious! The chicken was large, juicy, and satisfying to eat. Additionally, there was plenty of cabbage and tofu, not just chicken, which made me feel full with just one serving! I'm not good with spicy food, so I didn't order the sauce (?), but having that might allow for more flavor variations to enjoy!
【Overall Evaluation】
I think it's perfect for a quick and tasty meal after work! With plenty of sides in one serving and being super convenient for takeout, I definitely want to go back again!
Lamb rice noodles for $150, where you can choose between sliced meat or skin-on meat chunks; I chose sliced meat. For the noodles, you can select from rice noodles, wheat vermicelli, mung bean noodles, oil noodles, or Italian noodles.
The soup base is very flavorful and delicious, making it a great enjoyment to pair with noodles in the slightly cold winter. The lamb can be dipped in the restaurant's special sauce, which is quite tasty. Overall, I am very satisfied.
The restaurant also sells individual hot pots, which look quite good. If you're a bit hungrier, you might consider ordering one to eat.
It's located in the food court on the second floor of the Nanjing Market, which has a lot of seating options on the second floor.
I ordered peperoncino during lunchtime. The female staff in the hall didn't have a very good attitude, and the taste of the pasta was below my expectations. I topped it with Parmigiano, but the amount of cheese was mediocre, and I regretted it because it wasn't worth the cost.
I often pass by this place and finally mustered the courage to give it a try.
This time, I ordered the ham and cheese burger and the brown sugar fresh milk tea.
First of all, the brown sugar fresh milk tea is extremely disappointing; I couldn't taste any brown sugar at all. Overall, it felt very much like drinking water, which was quite disappointing. As for the ham and cheese burger, it was just average—not too bad, but nothing special.
Overall, the drink was really hard to accept. I am a bit suspicious that the shop forgot to add brown sugar because there was literally no sweetness at all.
