The Kaohsiung IKEA Swedish restaurant is a choice for many people to conveniently have a meal after browsing home goods. My family really enjoys eating there, and sometimes we even make a special trip just to enjoy their dishes, especially the meatballs and chicken wings.
The Swedish meatballs did not disappoint; paired with a rich gravy and sweet and sour lingonberry sauce, the sweet and savory intertwining flavors are simply classic. The price isn't expensive; a portion of 15 balls is just right for two people when combined with other small dishes. This time we also ordered the fried chicken wings, which were quite well-seasoned, with a crispy skin that had a slight spiciness; however, they were a bit darker than I would prefer, with a slight oily taste, but overall the flavor was still acceptable.
As for the salmon chowder, which I used to love, I was a bit disappointed this time. The soup did not taste as rich as I remembered, and it seemed to have fewer pieces of salmon; I’m not sure if they recently changed the recipe or if it’s just my perception. On the other hand, the fries remained consistently good, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, not too greasy, and pairing them with the ketchup provided in the restaurant was just right. Also, the boiled sausage was quite tasty; I recommend trying it with the honey mustard sauce.
The restaurant maintains IKEA's signature minimalist design, with a comfortable and spacious seating area. The food pickup flow is also well-designed, although it can feel a bit crowded during peak times. Finding a seat can also be a bit challenging.
Overall, the meal quality at the IKEA Swedish restaurant is stable, and the prices are reasonable, especially the meatballs and fried chicken wings, which are worth a try. Although the salmon chowder fell short this time, I still recommend it as a good place to take a break and have a meal.
I ordered salmon fillet pasta with tomato sauce, and the name is quite long, well it's just salmon pasta with tomato sauce... The salmon is delicious, but there’s a lot of sauce and not much pasta, so it tastes quite salty. The cinnamon roll was cold and not good... unfortunately, I love cinnamon flavor, sigh...
The grilled chicken wings were 55 dollars for 2 pieces; although they looked a bit burnt, they were surprisingly well-cooked and very tender and juicy.
As for drinks: all-you-can-drink for a once-only price of $35 for hot drinks, which include a hot coffee machine and tea bags, and $30 for cold drinks, which have various flavored sparkling water as well as sweet sodas without fizz...
Overall, it was fine; the space is bright and spacious, providing a relaxing dining environment. The business is doing very well, and there were too many people, so no matter how I tried to take pictures, I kept capturing others... so I could only take a few shots from the corners.
🚩Geographical Location🧭
Located at the intersection of Section 2, Xiangshang Road and Huiwen Road in Nantun District, Taichung City, in the large blue building IKEA's 1F.
🪑About the Overall Atmosphere🎡
The Swedish food stand on 1F sells snack-type items like hot dogs, ice cream, and salt and crispy chicken, as well as coffee and sparkling water; the queue moves quickly according to the flow.
💰About Pricing💰
Spicy meat sauce hot dog bun $55, original flavor ice cream $10.
🍴About the Dishes☕
I couldn't really taste the spiciness in the spicy meat sauce hot dog bun; the meat sauce tastes very much like Italian red sauce drizzled on the hot dog, surprisingly it was quite tasty. The hot dog itself is the kind that is very elastic, unlike the softer type you get at 7-11's big hot dog. (But actually, I prefer the softer kind.) The original flavor ice cream is also one of IKEA's signature items, it's not too sweet and at a great price of just $10, which is hard to find these days. In comparison, McDonald's ice cream cone feels inferior, it's too sweet and has also seen price increases.
🤨Conclusion♥
IKEA focuses on Swedish cuisine, and I remember there are similar restaurants on the 2nd and 4th floors. Since it's quite large, it can really be tiring to stroll around, so it's nice to grab a quick snack and recharge without spending too much time. I hadn’t been here in a long time and was surprised to find they still sell salt and crispy chicken. Next time, I might try the Taiwanese flavors sold at the Swedish restaurant.
🚩 The most beautiful IKEA restaurant in the north, eat well before exploring the furniture section.
📍 Location and Transportation: Located in the Xindian district of New Taipei City, take the MRT to Xiaobitan Station, turn right to access the restaurant via a shortcut without going through the furniture section. If driving, you can park on the 2nd floor or in the B1 parking lot, and your spending can be deducted from the parking fee.
🏠 Space: There are plenty of seats and the space is bright. In addition to standard-height tables, there are also high stools and a few sofa seats. The aisles are adequately wide, with children's chairs available, although the restroom is a bit far. Although there are many seats, finding a spot during peak dining times on holidays can be difficult, so it's best to avoid those times to choose your preferred seating.
💰 Ordering and Payment: Customers push their own carts to order at the kitchen; some small snacks can be picked up and paid for at the counter. Cutlery can be collected next to the counter, and diners are expected to return their trays afterwards. Cash and various payment methods are accepted, invoices are provided, and there is no service charge.
🍽️ Meals:
Today, we ordered quite a bit, and the details are written below ⬇️
We didn't take a photo, but there is also sparkling drink, and compared to before, the sugar content has been reduced, so you can enjoy drinking more without worry! 😍
💭 Summary:
As a furniture store that is distracted by food, the IKEA in Xindian has allocated the best-lit area for the restaurant from the planning stage. Compared to other branches in the north, I personally love the restaurant at the Xindian store the most. I almost come here to eat once or twice a month, enjoying the scenery while dining. If you're not too hungry, there are also cakes and small snacks to choose from, as well as meals suitable for children. Highly recommended!
Come and eat at IKEA near the MRT Arena~
That's right! This time I’m here to take advantage of the birthday discount ☺️
IKEA members can enjoy buy one get one free on the main meal of the birthday boy of the month (not limited to items, calculated based on the higher price)
I use one almost every year for my birthday🤣
Remember to add up all the members first~
Just wait for your birthday to receive the coupon
There are quite a few seats
But there are also many customers (⁎⁍̴̛ᴗ⁍̴̛⁎)
Keep your eyes peeled for where there are vacancies.
Rib eye steak
Medium amount of meat
The meat is quite tender and not too hard.
But it will bite your tendons~
Adding sauce is not bad either
Pig’s feet
When I ordered, I was told that I would have to wait 30 minutes.
The result seems to be fine in 10-20 minutes🤣
Why buy this huge portion?
It’s just that it’s very hard to cut 😂
The skin is very crispy and the thicker parts are harder.
When I first ate it, it was pretty good with sauerkraut and dipping sauce.
But it’s quite boring to eat too much!
Must share food
Chicken wings
Very well fried
It's just average fried chicken with good seasoning.
Chicken juice is too little~
Cheese Pork Chops
This one doesn't look like much
But it tastes very good
When everything is turned on, all the cheese flows out.
The ratio of meat to skin inside is also very good.
Looks great together
5.Blueberry Cheesecake
This is delicious! Must take
The cake is very moist and the blueberries are not too sour.
Finished one quickly🤣
Overall, I think the chicken wings ordered this time can be changed to vegetables.
This way it won’t be almost all meat🤣🤣
This is a restaurant attached to the Swedish company IKEA. It offers a variety of dishes, both for dine-in and take-out. There is no time limit for internal use and there is no limit on low consumption. Every year, members are offered a buy-one-get-one-free discount on the main meal of the birthday boy of the month!
-Honey sauce roasted pork ribs with two-color sweet potatoes-389-The ribs are very tender, and they separate from the bones immediately after cutting. It has a slight taste of American spices. It may be a little dry but it is okay. In addition to the usual unseasoned frozen vegetables, it is served on the side. There are also sliced yellow sweet potatoes and a grilled sweet potato. This square roasted sweet potato is much more delicious, crispy on the outside and sweet on the inside!
-Self-serve drink bar
-Nordic sparkling water-lemon-medium bubbles, slightly sweet and sour lemon
-Nordic sparkling water-raspberry-the sourness is more obvious than lemon, and the sweetness is about three to four points.
Overall, the quality of their food is of a certain standard, and the dining atmosphere is relaxed. If you can't think of what to eat nearby, you can consider it!
I think Xinzhuang IKEA is the best store to visit in Taipei. The store is large and has many floors. It has a rich mix of real-life scenes in the city and a full range of ready-made furniture. It is not like other stores that often lack something. I also like the atmosphere of the Xinzhuang store very much in the restaurant. There is a large floor-to-ceiling window, and you can overlook the river to the opposite panel bridge. It is really comfortable. However, there are really many people during the holiday dining time. It is recommended to queue up at 11:00 to prepare for entry (lunch period starts at 11:00), so as not to be like us, after 11:30 We just came in, and it took 20 minutes just to line up to order, and another 20 minutes to get seated and find a seat, and the food was cold by the time we got it (no wonder IKEA has a microwave to heat it up?)

✨ Must-eat recommended meals
Crispy chicken wings $55/2 pieces
🌕🌕🌕🌕🌕
I believe everyone must have tasted IKEA's divine chicken wings. They are really super delicious. Even if they are cold, they will not dry out and become unpalatable. You can fully enjoy the crispy and fried skin of thin-skinned chicken wings after being coated in flour and deep-fried. The chicken juice inside is locked inside, and you can taste the aroma of the chicken wings when you rub it, which is unparalleled deliciousness. I saw that many people were not polite when picking up chicken wings. They picked up several at a time and ate them.
Vegetable potato cake $59/2 pieces
🌕🌕🌕🌕🌗
This is also placed in the same area as the chicken wings and is available for self-service. This meal is also ranked in the top two of my favorite dishes. I must eat the vegetable potato pancakes every time I come here. It contains cauliflower, leeks, onions and cheese. In addition, the mashed potatoes are fried into round hash browns. It tastes a lot like hash browns but with more vegetable flavor in it, and it is not as oily as ordinary hash browns. I personally like this texture very much. It can be enjoyed as a staple food on its own instead of rice or noodles!
Swedish Chicken Meatballs $149/10 pieces
🌕🌕🌕🌕🌗
The meatballs that are a must-try at IKEA need no introduction. They are topped with meatball milk sauce. The delicious chicken meatballs will make people keep stuffing them in their mouths unconsciously, and soon 10 of them will be gone. And I especially like the mashed potatoes and 🔥lingonberry jam🔥 that come with it. It tastes a bit like strawberry jam, but the highlight is that it goes great with chicken meatballs and mashed potatoes! The sweet, salty and salty taste really shocked the taste buds. I never thought that jam and meatballs could be so wonderfully combined. In the end, I directly dipped the jam into it until not a drop was left.
Salmon and Asparagus Soup $35
🌕🌕🌕🌕🌑
I personally like it very much and must order it every time I go. The soup is moderately salty, thick and has a lot of ingredients. I like the aroma of asparagus paired with salmon seafood.

🫢 It’s okay/you can skip it
Curry grilled half chicken $280
🌕🌘🌑🌑🌑
The whole plate contains curry grilled half chicken, Japanese fried rice and two-color cauliflower. To be honest, I don’t think this meal is very delicious.
The biggest shortcoming is the Japanese-style fried rice. Although it is fried rice, it is actually a bit like the cold risotto you would find on an airplane meal. It does not have the flavor that fried rice should have. It does not taste fragrant, and it is too heavy for the stomach. A bit redundant. Next is the curry-flavored half chicken. I don’t know much about eating it, but I just felt it was very greasy after chewing it, and the chicken was a little dry. But in terms of portion size, it’s definitely enough!
IKEA chips $40
🌕🌕🌑🌑🌑
Although the French fries are the kind I like. They are battered and deep-fried. They are orange in color and thick. But when I ate it, it had gone cold and became very unpalatable and greasy. Moreover, fries are very filling, so it is recommended that multiple people order one to eat together (or if the main course comes with fries, there is no need to order separately).

😍 An unexpected discovery
Bear-shaped bun "Xiong Bao Bao" $35
🌕🌕🌕🌑🌑
It's IKEA's best-selling teddy bear doll, made into a bun. It seems to have been sold during the special period, from 4/24 to 5/12, so it should be gone now.
The filling inside is mashed taro, and the skin part has a faint brown sugar steamed bun flavor. It's actually quite delicious, but his face feels very funny and painful XDD

In general
The restaurant environment of IKEA Xinzhuang store is not bad and there are many seats. However, it is still very full during dining hours. It is recommended to arrive early or avoid rush hours.
The meals are generally delicious and not too expensive, costing about 500 yuan per person!
The restaurant is located on the 3rd floor, so you can finish your meal and then stroll down to the 1st floor to check out. The traffic flow is quite smooth.
