Due to the Taiwan Lantern Festival, I came to this IKEA restaurant located at the Taoyuan High-Speed Rail Station for a meal. However, because it coincided with the Lantern Festival and the weekend, the line was very long; I waited almost 30 minutes before I could sit down and eat.
The dishes here are similar to those in other IKEA Swedish restaurants, featuring classic items like meatballs, roasted pork knuckles, and salmon fillets. I personally find the flavors to be relatively light and healthy; their dishes are less often fried, with many being braised or pan-fried. Therefore, some flavors might be a bit unfamiliar to Taiwanese palates.
However, what impressed me the most was their side dishes. I ordered two fried chicken wings, and they were very juicy and hot right out of the oven. The tenderness of the chicken paired with the crispy thin skin was on par with top Taiwanese fried chicken shops, so I recommend trying the fried chicken wings.
For drinks, you need to buy a cup separately. You can enjoy unlimited refills, with options including Swedish fruit sodas and sparkling beverages. I personally recommend the sweet pear flavor, as it has a relatively natural taste.
# Open During the New Year
The business hours during the New Year are the same as regular business hours. IKEA will not be closed during the New Year period.
My family quite enjoys eating at IKEA, and sometimes we even make a special trip to have their dishes, especially the meatballs and chicken wings.
The Swedish meatballs definitely did not disappoint, served with rich gravy and sweet and sour lingonberry sauce; the sweet and savory combination is truly classic. The price is reasonable, with a serving of 15 meatballs enough for two people when paired with other small dishes, which is just right. As usual, there were also some fried chicken wings this time, which were nicely seasoned, with a crispy exterior and a hint of spiciness; however, they were a bit dark from frying, carrying a slight oiliness, but overall, the flavor was still acceptable.
As for the salmon chowder that I used to really enjoy, it seems that the Taoyuan store has a bit more salmon compared to the Kaohsiung IKEA? I just have a feeling about that XD. The fries, however, weren't that great; they were already cold by the time we took them from the shelf. On the other hand, the boiled sausage was quite tasty; I usually would have it with honey mustard but thought I’d keep the flavors light this time and tried it plain, only to discover that the plain flavor was actually quite sufficient!
Overall, the food quality at the IKEA Swedish restaurant is consistent, and the prices are affordable, especially the meatballs and fried chicken wings, which are definitely worth trying. Next time, I'll check out the IKEA in different regions!

Sometimes I grab a bite to eat at the first floor restaurant, and when I have time, I run up to the third floor to dine at the restaurant.

They mainly offer must-try ice cream from an automatic machine for $10 per cone (there's a change machine nearby). If you want more flavors, you can go to the counter. Recently, they have sesame and chocolate flavors; before that, there were durian, lemon, and others.
For those interested in German sausages, you can also try buying a set meal, which includes a hot dog and a drink for $50. There are also set meals available for pork/beef rolls (you can check the menu above).
Occasionally, IKEA has fun little events, and on that day, I also picked up a shark-shaped EasyCard and a little bear bag. I heard that they will soon be giving away adorable stuffed animal ID holders.

Located on the first floor of the IKEA in Kaohsiung, there is a "Swedish Food Station" that offers items different from those in the "Swedish Restaurant" on the top floor. The top floor features main dishes like salmon fillets, roasted chicken, Swedish meatballs, and so on, while the first floor follows a light meal route, selling quick snacks such as ice cream, hot dogs, and small meatball boxes. If you're feeling tired after browsing IKEA, this is a great place to recharge.
This time, I tried two flavors of ice cream—sesame milk and durian. The sesame milk had a delightful and rich sesame flavor, perfectly combining the creaminess of milk with the aroma of sesame. It wasn't overly sweet, had a smooth texture, and was really delicious. The durian flavor, on the other hand, was quite special—it had an unmasked durian taste that burst forth immediately. As soon as I took it, my wife couldn’t stand it and shouted, "Get away, it really stinks!" I also heard many people saying that the smell was too strong, but as a durian lover, I could only say, "This is real durian!" The aroma was intense and satisfying—it really surprised me.
However, I'm not sure if these two ice cream flavors are seasonal, as I don't remember seeing them before. I hope the durian flavor will become a regular item on the menu because unique and bold flavors like this are pretty rare, and I always want to try them whenever I visit IKEA. Plus, the prices are quite affordable—each ice cream costs around 20 NT dollars, making it a great value.
Overall, though the IKEA Swedish Food Station only sells small snacks, they are tasty and reasonably priced. I highly recommend it!
The Kaohsiung IKEA Swedish restaurant is a choice for many people to conveniently have a meal after browsing home goods. My family really enjoys eating there, and sometimes we even make a special trip just to enjoy their dishes, especially the meatballs and chicken wings.

The price isn't expensive; a portion of 15 balls is just right for two people when combined with other small dishes. This time we also ordered the fried chicken wings, which were quite well-seasoned, with a crispy skin that had a slight spiciness; however, they were a bit darker than I would prefer, with a slight oily taste, but overall the flavor was still acceptable.
As for the salmon chowder, which I used to love, I was a bit disappointed this time. The soup did not taste as rich as I remembered, and it seemed to have fewer pieces of salmon; I’m not sure if they recently changed the recipe or if it’s just my perception. On the other hand, the fries remained consistently good, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, not too greasy, and pairing them with the ketchup provided in the restaurant was just right. Also, the boiled sausage was quite tasty; I recommend trying it with the honey mustard sauce.
The restaurant maintains IKEA's signature minimalist design, with a comfortable and spacious seating area. The food pickup flow is also well-designed, although it can feel a bit crowded during peak times. Finding a seat can also be a bit challenging.
Overall, the meal quality at the IKEA Swedish restaurant is stable, and the prices are reasonable, especially the meatballs and fried chicken wings, which are worth a try. Although the salmon chowder fell short this time, I still recommend it as a good place to take a break and have a meal.
I ordered salmon fillet pasta with tomato sauce, and the name is quite long, well it's just salmon pasta with tomato sauce... The salmon is delicious, but there’s a lot of sauce and not much pasta, so it tastes quite salty. The cinnamon roll was cold and not good... unfortunately, I love cinnamon flavor, sigh...
The grilled chicken wings were 55 dollars for 2 pieces; although they looked a bit burnt, they were surprisingly well-cooked and very tender and juicy.
As for drinks: all-you-can-drink for a once-only price of $35 for hot drinks, which include a hot coffee machine and tea bags, and $30 for cold drinks, which have various flavored sparkling water as well as sweet sodas without fizz...
Overall, it was fine; the space is bright and spacious, providing a relaxing dining environment. The business is doing very well, and there were too many people, so no matter how I tried to take pictures, I kept capturing others... so I could only take a few shots from the corners.

I couldn't really taste the spiciness in the spicy meat sauce hot dog bun; the meat sauce tastes very much like Italian red sauce drizzled on the hot dog, surprisingly it was quite tasty. The hot dog itself is the kind that is very elastic, unlike the softer type you get at 7-11's big hot dog. (But actually, I prefer the softer kind.) The original flavor ice cream is also one of IKEA's signature items, it's not too sweet and at a great price of just $10, which is hard to find these days. In comparison, McDonald's ice cream cone feels inferior, it's too sweet and has also seen price increases.

IKEA focuses on Swedish cuisine, and I remember there are similar restaurants on the 2nd and 4th floors. Since it's quite large, it can really be tiring to stroll around, so it's nice to grab a quick snack and recharge without spending too much time. I hadn’t been here in a long time and was surprised to find they still sell salt and crispy chicken. Next time, I might try the Taiwanese flavors sold at the Swedish restaurant.

📍 Location and Transportation: Located in the Xindian district of New Taipei City, take the MRT to Xiaobitan Station, turn right to access the restaurant via a shortcut without going through the furniture section. If driving, you can park on the 2nd floor or in the B1 parking lot, and your spending can be deducted from the parking fee.
🏠 Space: There are plenty of seats and the space is bright. In addition to standard-height tables, there are also high stools and a few sofa seats. The aisles are adequately wide, with children's chairs available, although the restroom is a bit far. Although there are many seats, finding a spot during peak dining times on holidays can be difficult, so it's best to avoid those times to choose your preferred seating.
💰 Ordering and Payment: Customers push their own carts to order at the kitchen; some small snacks can be picked up and paid for at the counter. Cutlery can be collected next to the counter, and diners are expected to return their trays afterwards. Cash and various payment methods are accepted, invoices are provided, and there is no service charge.

As a furniture store that is distracted by food, the IKEA in Xindian has allocated the best-lit area for the restaurant from the planning stage. Compared to other branches in the north, I personally love the restaurant at the Xindian store the most. I almost come here to eat once or twice a month, enjoying the scenery while dining. If you're not too hungry, there are also cakes and small snacks to choose from, as well as meals suitable for children. Highly recommended!
