Dickson's Fooday Review #210
This time we are at the "Mediterranean" restaurant right outside the Dongmen MRT station.
The menu has a super wide variety of food categories, featuring items from all sorts of types. The restaurant’s menu includes brief introductions to different types of dishes.
There are many unique dishes, but it feels like most are variations of toast or panini 🤣🤣.
Additionally, they offer alcoholic beverages to pair with your meal. Whether for lunch, afternoon tea, or dinner, this place is a good choice. It's perfect for those looking to try something new or experience a variety of different types of food.

The dishes have character and taste quite good. The overall price is also reasonable, making it very suitable for group gatherings or for students to enjoy 👍.
It's even a nice option for family outings, bringing your parents to try different flavors.
Moreover, the restaurant's decor is really charming, featuring many floor-to-ceiling windows with great views. Even at night, it's a viable option for a date restaurant!
🤪🤪 Dickson’s Rant 🤪🤪
What comes to mind when you hear "Mediterranean"?
Mediterranean-type anemia?
The Baltic three tiny countries?
Mediterranean baldness?
No, no! What are the unique characteristics of Mediterranean cuisine?
But after eating here, I still don't really know what Mediterranean cuisine is all about 🤪🤪🤪.
Overall, it leans more towards a specialty brunch with some tavern concepts.
With the restaurant's atmosphere, it’s quite suitable for gathering with four to six friends for a noisy lunch or dinner.
Chat about recent work, recent crushes, enjoy exotic flavors, and sip on a few drinks—chilllllllllllll~~~
Share a chain restaurant with a Mediterranean concept!

-Garlic Sourdough Bread-60-The serving size is about a large slice of sourdough toast. The crust is very crispy and has a very fragrant garlic oil flavor, but it is not the kind of rich garlic spread. It feels refreshing and not greasy, which is not bad!
-White Coconut Soup-100-The serving size is the size of a soup bowl in a typical Western restaurant. The soup itself is very thick, with a starchy texture, and there are some lumpy potatoes. The seasoning is a little salty, and you can taste a little vanilla, which is not bad! Even the croutons on top are toasted with spices and taste particularly delicious!
A small mediterranean and Lebanese restaurant with authentic, healthy and tasty food. Also for vegetarians the menu has enough to offer.
With the locality being not far from the french quarter and offering a quite cozy place it is perfect for a retreat and for recharging energy with some nice food.
The service was extremely friendly, attentive and we felt really welcome.
Food was prepared fresh and fast as we had the catfish plate and the vegetarian plate. Everything was quite aromatic and flavored. And everything for a reasonable price.
Clear recommendation for every NOLA visit. Also for take out.
The price is on the high side, averaging about 400-1,000 yuan per person.
Amazing Mediterranean cuisine, every meal is top notch.
Recommend the stewed lamb shakasukka. The meat is soft and tender and wrapped in rich spices and sauces. Even the hummus that is paired with it has a rich and rich gravy. The pasta is lasagna with fresh ingredients. The environment is beautiful and comfortable. There are private rooms that can seat 20-30 people, which are suitable for various types of gatherings. It is recommended to book a table in advance. There is a paid parking lot nearby.
Friends who like spicy food recommend the chili sauce specially made by the Middle Eastern chef. You can ask the store staff for it, and it is also sold separately on the official website.
📍 TOASTERiA CAFE
🚇East Gate
TOASTERiA CAFE is located one minute's walk from Exit 5 of Dongmen MRT Station. The location is very convenient👍
I have passed by TOASTERiA CAFE many times😂
Every time I want to eat, I am defeated by the crowd🥲🥲🥲
The time to have dinner this time is at 1 p.m.
The fourth floor is still fully occupied😯😯😯
There are plenty of seats inside, including square tables, round tables, and bars.
The whole building has large floor-to-ceiling windows and many plants🪴
The lighting is very good☀️I personally like the window seat
One item per person for low consumption, dining time is 2 hours⏰
TOASTERiA CAFE’s meals include dishes from all over the world
(Israel, Egypt, Greece, France, Morocco, etc.)
Almost every table has "Panini"❗️
It’s a good place to eat if you have foreign friends here (there are really a lot of foreign tourists coming to eat)
People who want to go abroad but have no way to go abroad are suitable to go on a food trip to enjoy themselves😗
Consumption methods can basically be divided into three types:
Just order the buffet
The store specializes in self-service Mediterranean salads, which look very healthy and taste very refreshing. The self-service bar also comes with soups, drinks, etc. Many people will choose to enjoy these foods without ordering anything else.
Order from the buffet and add a main meal (-100 yuan)
In addition to the above-mentioned self-service bar, if you want to enjoy pasta/noodles/risotto, you can add some and get a NT$100 discount
A la carte main meal
You can’t enjoy the buffet, but order pasta or rice à la carte.
This time we all chose the second consumption method. In addition to using the toasted bread, fresh juice, jasmine green tea, tomato vegetable soup, pumpkin soup and tea jelly from the self-service bar, we also ate delicious Mediterranean salads. Mediterranean cuisine mainly seasoned with olive oil is very easy to eat!
For the main meal, I ordered three dishes, namely:
Stir-fried Noodles with Chili Anchovies
Choose spicy, which seems to be a little spicier; the taste is average, but
Pumpkin sauce seafood straight round noodles
Contains mussels, clams, and shrimps. The pumpkin sauce makes the taste of the seafood less prominent, but overall it is very harmonious.
Straight round noodles with farm fresh vegetables and wild mushrooms in pumpkin sauce
The combination of pumpkin sauce and vegetable food is a bit monotonous due to its relatively single taste.
Overall, I recommend everyone to enjoy the Mediterranean salad and buffet bar rather than the main meal; there may be a lot of delicious pasta out there, but rich and affordable Mediterranean food is not so easy to find in Taipei.
Note: There is a 10% service fee at the end
This is my second time to eat at Toastlia. This restaurant serves Mediterranean cuisine, but it doesn’t have any weird taste at all. It’s very delicious! This time we ordered a Spanish baked egg, which was amazing. It contained potatoes, spinach and a lot of cheese. It also had pasta, rich white sauce and marinated tomatoes! Recommended to everyone, suitable for friends and family gatherings.

We made a last-minute reservation for lunch, and luckily we had inside seating.
Spanish market:
Originally, I wanted to order a brunch-type meal because it had been a while since I visited during the brunch period, but then my travel companion ordered it.
The bread is said to be sourdough bread, but it doesn't taste like it. I think it's just ordinary bread. If it's sourdough bread, it should go better with this dish.
The meal includes minced Spanish chorizo, potatoes, glutinous rice peppers and tomatoes. The taste is sour and salty and very appetizing. It is a menu that is often ordered when we return many times.
Spicy Chopped Sausage Noodles:
I quite like their meal, but I think the portion is quite large, and I feel like I can't finish it every time.
The minced sausage meat is delicious, but the dough is average. The sauce always feels a bit watery. It seemed to be thicker before. Although it is said to be spicy, I think it is only slightly spicy.
This restaurant does not charge a service fee, but the prices are on the mid-to-high range. Fortunately, the portions of the food will not leave you feeling empty after finishing the meal.
I don’t think their food is a big deal. Although it’s not super delicious, at least you won’t be angry after eating it 😂
Located inside Beijing Station (opposite Starbucks), there are many customers here for dining on weekend nights. You can reserve a table online in advance, or you can choose to take away.
Because the distance between the tables is quite close, and it is an open kitchen, the sounds of cooking and communication in the kitchen will also come out, so the whole space will feel quite noisy.
Lemonade will be served when you first sit down, and you have to take the tableware by yourself, but there is no service charge, so it's OK
Ordered at 18:00 and the food was delivered at 18:10, which was pretty quick~
Cashew Miso Chicken Breast Cereal Energy Bowl $385
The sauce is a bit sour, mainly red wine, oil and vinegar, and the cashew miso sauce is not too obvious. This part is a bit disappointing.
The sweet potatoes are steamed and soft, which is not bad; the boiled eggs are not fully cooked, and there is a taste of being taken out after being refrigerated, which is not good; the wheat grains are a little sweet, which I like very much; the wild mushrooms have a strong taste, because I love eating mushrooms, so I highly recommend them (but people who don’t like mushrooms may be afraid haha)
The staple chicken breast is very tender and seasoned very well, very delicious!
I think the performance of this dish is above average, I might order it again next time~
Peeled chilli shrimp noodles $435
The flavor of peeled chili peppers is not very obvious, but the spiciness is considered mild to medium spiciness. People who don’t like spicy food should make their own discretion (not sure if the spiciness level can be adjusted)
There were about 5 shrimps, and they tasted quite average, not particularly surprising. The whole plate of noodles had a strong cheese flavor, and I didn’t particularly like cheese, so I personally didn’t like it (those who don’t like cheese can remind the store not to add it)
I think this one is just passable. There should be better options at the same price.
Overall, the food performance is pretty good. I will come back next time I want to eat healthy. However, I think the price is a bit expensive. If you want to be full or add some drinks and desserts, one person may need to spend more than 600 yuan.
