The restaurant is the second row of Japanese architecture at the General's Residence. This is my first time dining here since the curry at home moved to the General's Residence, and the whole dining experience was wonderful; I loved the service, the dishes, and the overall environment. The shrimp crackers served before the meal were delicious and crispy, and dipping them in the curry sauce was very flavorful.
For the main dish, I ordered the Bengali crispy fish curry, which came with two dipping sauces— the bright orange sauce was very tasty! There was a bit of spice to it that complemented the meal well. The main dish, the white fish, was stunning, with an incredibly crispy outer layer, and the beef curry had a rich flavor as well. The side dishes were pickled, refreshing, and helped to balance the richness; they can be enjoyed with rice and curry sauce.
There were two fish bone cakes per person, with a soft, sticky, sweet interior and a crispy exterior; I wish they were a bit larger.
Although there is a parking lot nearby, there aren’t many spaces available, so parking can be difficult. You might consider parking at Hualien Hospital, which is just across the bridge over the Meilun River.
🥨 Super thick deep-fried pork chop NT. 350
The texture doesn't resemble a whole piece of meat; the meat is rather tough. Personally, I don't really like it 😅
🥨 Fried chicken NT. 230
The flavor is on the salty side, the meat quality is okay, overall it's just average.
🥨 Milk tea & barley tea each NT. 30
I can only say I almost laughed when I saw the whole bottle of barley milk tea and barley tea being taken out 😂
As for the curry, it tastes like Vermont curry with some additional seasoning. You don’t have to worry about it being bad, but you also won’t find it amazing.
The vegetable tempura and miso soup that come with the set meal are actually the better performing parts overall~
Before you enter, you can see a giant Daruma doll and a wall covered in lanterns. The decor inside is perfect for taking photos, and the lighting is great for chatting over drinks.
🍛 Super thick fried pork cutlet - 350
The meat is thick and not dry, with a chewy texture.
🍛 Fried chicken - 230
Not dry to the point of scraping your mouth, and it has a good level of saltiness.
🥣 Comes with vegetable tempura and miso soup.
The restaurant sells alcohol and also has canned drinks, priced at 30 per can.
Overall, the value for money is quite high. If your dining partner has a small appetite, both of you will still feel very full.

"Zipang Curry Kitchen" is a small Japanese curry shop located not far from Zhongshan Station and Shuanglian Station, about a 10-minute walk. The entire shop is very transparent, allowing you to clearly see inside from outside. There aren't many seats, about 10 in total, divided into counter seats and high stools for two people.
The owner of this shop seems to be Japanese since I heard the owner communicating in Japanese with the kitchen staff, and they also say thank you to customers in Japanese when serving. Eating inside gives you a feeling like you suddenly arrived in Japan, which I really like!
We ordered Hokkaido Fried Chicken Curry Rice for $200 and Fried Pork Loin Curry Rice for $200.
Aside from the different main dishes, everything else is the same. One cute thing about this shop's curry rice is that the white rice is shaped like Taiwan, very pleasing!
P.S. You can get a free upgrade to a larger size without extra charge! Just let the owner know when you order, or you can ask for more if you feel it's not enough halfway through your meal~
The curry flavor is of the type I like—very rich, with a slight spiciness, suitable even for those who can't handle spicy food; and I love that they sprinkle something like crispy shallots on the rice, suddenly adding a Taiwanese flavor that is very fragrant and delicious!
One small disappointment is that the side dishes only include a few green beans and pickled vegetables, which are a bit lacking~
As for the main dishes, the fried chicken comes with three pieces, and the batter is a bit special, appearing somewhat white when fried. The first bite had a slight chicken gamey taste, but that sensation disappeared after a few more bites. Personally, I prefer the pork cutlet, which is also fried very crispy. However, both main dishes are not very large in portion size.
Overall, the price of the curry rice is not expensive, and the taste is quite good. It's a place I would consider visiting again occasionally~
♢ Heavenly Curry ♢
Location: It is located near the Zhongxiao Dunhua MRT station, about a five-minute walk away.
Dining Environment: The window seats are not very comfortable, but the interior decor has a lot of style.
Ordering Method: The staff will take your order at the table.
There is cold water available for self-service at the counter.
You can have your curry sauce refilled for free once (only the original sauce you ordered can be added).
The store plays hip-hop music and has a cool decor, making it suitable for young people. The overall prices are somewhat high, but I used a 10% discount coupon from LINE PAY, saving 35 bucks, which made it easier on the wallet. 😍
At the local restaurant, one of the famous dishes in Hokkaido is soup curry, and different regions have their own characteristics. This place features a flavor that leans towards Indian curry spices. The atmosphere is bright, clean, and comfortable, with a standalone house feel. The restaurant is quite large and filled with a plethora of comics, likely part of the owner's collection, which adds to its uniqueness.
I ordered a spicy chicken leg vegetable soup curry and a vegetable curry with fried chicken. The soup curry has a strong aroma of spices, but it’s well-balanced, and the spiciness is just right. I can’t stop having a spoonful of soup curry with a mouthful of rice; they go very well together. The chicken leg meat is very tender, which I really liked.
The vegetable curry is rich and pairs beautifully with local vegetables that are very fresh and sweet. The added fried chicken is juicy but fairly standard. Overall, I really enjoyed it, and the prices are relatively affordable, which explains the restaurant's popularity.
Curry on Shichang Street
At first, just eating curry was actually quite boring, but later it became amazing when paired with Sichuan pepper.
Whether it's salad or curry, adding Sichuan pepper makes it delicious.
Couples can order one salad and one rice; the curry rice can be refilled infinitely.
Calculating, it costs less than 200 per person to eat until full, which is really impressive for a curry restaurant in Taipei! 👍

Braces Person's Review: The airport restroom has a washbasin in the dining area.
On the last day, I'm heading back to Taiwan at Kansai Airport. I looked around and didn't find anything particularly appealing to eat. Then I saw this curry rice place, so I decided to give it a try.
I ordered the fried pork cutlet omelet curry rice for 1900 yen and Hokkaido draft beer for 580 yen.
The fried pork cutlet was quite tasty, but the curry rice was a bit salty. The draft beer was also very smooth to drink.
"Honest Curry" - Japanese Aged Curry Specialty Store - Dining Experience
I recently dined at "Honest Curry" in Nangang. This place specializes in Japanese aged curry, and I heard that both rice and curry sauce can be refilled indefinitely, which is quite appealing to me.
I ordered the rich pork cutlet curry rice. The pork cutlet was crispy on the outside and quite tender on the inside, and it paired nicely with the curry sauce. The curry sauce had a sweet flavor, but it wasn't overly rich; it had a touch of natural sweetness from the vegetables and fruits, making it quite layered. However, for those who enjoy a rich and spicy curry, they may find it lacking in intensity.
The portion size is sufficient for most people, and if you have a big appetite, you can refill the rice or sauce without worrying about not getting enough. The environment is clean, and there aren't many seats, so it's advisable to avoid peak dining hours.
Overall, this curry place has good flavors and reasonable prices, making it especially suitable for those who want to fill up and enjoy Japanese-style curry.
