Reviewer comment: There is no toilet at the roadside stand.
The pancake from this "Delicious Clams Cake" stall has quite distinctive characteristics, especially its firm texture and sweet flavor. The outer layer is crispy, while the inside is dense, giving it a different taste from typical pancakes, with a milder milk flavor and a more layered eating experience.
However, there are hygiene issues; handling money and then preparing food may raise concerns. Additionally, lines on Sunday afternoons indicate its popularity. If you're near the Zhonghe Temple area, it's worth a try.
The reviewer of the fried bun says: Takeout only
The fried bun stall at Zhonghe Temple Square is a locally famous snack spot, opening at 3 PM and often attracting queues of customers. Each bun costs 12 NT dollars and offers cabbage fried buns, with fillings of cabbage, carrots, chives, and shrimp, seasoned lightly.
The outer skin of the fried bun is pan-fried on both sides, thin and crispy, providing a delightful texture. The filling primarily consists of crunchy cabbage, which is sweet and non-greasy, rather than mushy. You can choose between original or spicy flavors; the original contains no extra seasonings, while the spicy option comes with the boss's homemade chili sauce, which has a strong aroma, moderate spiciness, and isn’t overly salty.
Around 3 PM, there were about 10 people in line, and the wait time wasn’t too long. Although some regular customers feel that the thickness of the buns is a bit uneven and they aren't as delicious as before, overall, they still maintain a good standard. Parking is convenient, making it a worthy afternoon snack to try in the area.
Previously very popular on IG, the Yongkang Street delicacies are still attracting quite a crowd during peak hours. You have to be patient as they make it fresh on the spot. There are various flavors to choose from, making it perfect for afternoon tea or a light snack – affordable street food!

🎉 Nankan Noodle Processing Specialty Store 🎉
🎉 Masterfully Made Potstickers and Steamed Dumplings 🎉
This store is located on Nankan Road, right in the heart of the Nankan food scene. There are limited seats inside, so most people take out their food. If you want to enjoy freshly cooked dumplings, you might have to wait a little bit. 😁
The main offerings in the store include steamed dumplings, potstickers, scallion pancakes, and rolled pancakes, focusing on these types of noodle dishes. The steamed dumplings are made in the same way as the potstickers, with a chewy and resilient dumpling skin and tasty fillings that don’t even require dipping sauce to be flavorful. 😋
Chive Steamed Dumplings (5 pieces for 70 TWD):
The chive flavor is excellent 👍 but since they are handmade, the amount of filling may vary. Steaming makes it lighter, allowing you to enjoy the original taste of the food.
Signature Potstickers (5 pieces for 55 TWD):
The pan-fried skin is super crispy 🤩 and cooked just right. The signature filling is loaded with the aroma of scallions and has a nice crunch and sweetness from the cabbage. 👍
To sum up:
Although the potstickers are pan-fried, they are steamed first, causing some of the juices to be lost, and the steamed dumplings are made in the same style as the potstickers, so they share the same issue. It's a bit disappointing. 😂
Personally, I feel that a potsticker costing over ten TWD is somewhat on the higher side. 😀 However, given the rising costs everywhere, perhaps this price reflects the expenses. ☺️
From one bun costing 12 yuan to one costing 15 yuan
There was a time when I worked nearby, and one afternoon I went out to handle some matters, coincidentally passing by a market. I thought I’d go in and buy a snack before heading back to the office.
This fresh meat bun shop is what made me a regular customer~~
Saying I'm a regular is a bit of an exaggeration, after all, my total contribution to their sales is just a few dozen yuan.
The meat buns aren't that big, but the ingredients are substantial. Eating two buns along with a drink makes for a pretty good afternoon tea or dinner.
Braces Wearer Review: Takeout only, no restroom.
I haven't had desserts from this place in a long time. It's been around for quite a while, probably over ten years since it was open during my junior high school days. The owner is still as strong as ever, hasn't changed at all 😂. This time, I ordered the peanut flavor for 55 TWD. It looks very much like a waffle and tastes like one too. After cooking, it's spread with butter and then peanut butter. I took it home to eat, so it got a bit cold, but the crust was still chewy. Overall, it was pretty good; next time, I want to try their signature item.
"Environment"
Sweet potatoes are used, making the taste sweet and delicious, which is loved by many people. Sweet potatoes are high in sugar, and after cooking, they emit a rich aroma. The exterior is crispy while the inside is soft, offering a unique texture that is irresistible. Sweet potato balls have a crispy outside and a soft inside, enhancing the texture, and various flavors can be added for a special taste~

Flavors include peanut🥜, plum, mustard, seaweed, cheese, coconut, and chocolate🍫, which can be added according to personal preference.
"Parking"
There are actually many parking lots 🅿️ near Guohua Street, with prices mostly ranging between 💰30~45/0.5hr. If you're lucky, street parking is definitely the cheapest.
"Service"
There is no special service, but the staff's attitude is good 👍
🚩Location🧭
Located near the intersection of Minsheng Road and Lequn Street in the West District of Taichung City, right next to the Taichung Hospital of the Ministry of Health and Welfare. This is a one-way street, so you can't park at the entrance, but the Taichung Hospital parking lot is next door, so it shouldn't be a problem.
🪑About the Overall Atmosphere🎡
The red sign only has "different" written on it along with a mantou (steamed bun) icon. Every time I pass by, I see a lot of people lining up, wondering what exactly they are selling, so today I decided to try it. The setup is simple, with food carts placed under the arcade. Inside, there are some red bean cakes, peanut cakes, and steamer baskets full of mantou. Although there is often a line, the staff works really fast, so the wait is usually not long.
💰About the Price💰
Red bean cake $18, which is considered very cheap.
🍴About the Food☕
The red bean cake is quite large, and when you take a bite, there's a good amount of filling with actual red bean chunks. It's not too dry or too sweet, somewhat like a larger version of a wheel cake with a multi-layered crust.
🤨Conclusion♥
After trying it, I understand why there are always crowds waiting in line. The high value-for-money price, coupled with the fact that this seems to be a long-established shop, makes it very delicious. I will come back next time to try other flavors.
Brace Face Review: No Restroom
This rice cake shop is definitely worth a try, frequently visited by locals. We recommend their radish cake, which has a rich radish aroma combined with tea-infused sticky rice skin that is chewy and doesn't stick to your teeth. If it's your return trip, remember to buy a few more to take home.
Located in the Yulan community, the live wrapping of the rice cakes at this shop is particularly interesting. The rice cake is kneaded with tea leaves to create a tea color, and the tea fragrance is slowly released as you chew. The skin is chewy, not hard, and of moderate thickness. There are four filling options: dried radish rice, red bean, peanut (20 NT$), and taro (25 NT$). The taro filling is smooth, adding layers to the texture, and the salty flavor of the dried radish rice is also quite nice. The store also sells agricultural products and local specialties, making it a great place to conveniently buy souvenirs.
The skin is softer than the usual herbal rice cakes, and we particularly recommend their sweet-flavored fillings. The filling is dense but not overly sweet, making every bite feel blissful.
"Environment"
Located at the corner inside the Guohua shopping area, there's always a long queue during national holidays. The food is delicious, and in this fast-inflation era, you can still enjoy affordable street food.
"Food"
Sweet Potato Balls, White Sugar Rice Cake, Taro Cake 💰35 (for three)
Personally, I only choose the White Sugar Rice Cake each time due to my preference. It has a moderate sweetness and doesn't stick to the teeth, making it easy to keep eating one after another. If you like to try different things, you can taste one of each and pick your favorite next time.
"Parking"
There are actually many parking lots near Guohua Street 🅿️, with most prices ranging from 💰30 to 45 per 0.5 hour. If you're lucky, street parking is definitely the cheapest.
"Service"
There's no particular service, but they are very quick. Even with the long queues, the turnover is fast, so you don't have to wait too long to enjoy the food.
