I think that if you go to Hawaii, you must eat at this restaurant. They start serving at five o'clock every afternoon. When I initially went, the door was not open yet, so I went to the back of the restaurant to have a drink and found that there were actually quite a few places to eat in this whole area! By the time I returned to the entrance, there was already a line forming; there were so many people waiting, which shows how delicious it must be!
The line moved pretty quickly, and I was able to order what I wanted in no time… ❤️ chirashi & spicy poke + ikura + uni. I think from the photos, it’s not hard to see the freshness of the fish! With every bite, you can taste the fresh sweetness, especially with the addition of sea urchin and salmon roe! Overall, it added a hint of sweetness and umami to the texture! Not only that, but their rice 🥣 is also specially prepared, making each bite smoother!
I highly recommend this place in Hawaii; the prices are very reasonable, the portions are quite substantial, and most importantly, the flavors are fantastic! During my week in Hawaii, I loved it so much that I went twice! I recommend that if you get the chance to visit Hawaii, you must try it out!
This restaurant is a very well-known Hawaiian cuisine restaurant in Hawaii. If you ask the locals which one is the oldest and most famous, most of them can probably mention this restaurant's name! It's best to make a reservation during busy weekends; otherwise, you might have to wait longer ⏰.
The service here truly impressed me from the moment I walked in until I sat down! They led me to the waiting area before confirming my seat, and when I sat down, they noticed that my pants were white and specially provided me with a white napkin to place on my lap! When the dishes arrived, I found that they even helped adjust my meal for a prettier photo angle 📷!
As for the dishes:
❤️ Misoyaki Butterfish
This dish is a must-order for my friend every time we visit Hawaii! The fish🐟 is as tender as bouncy tofu.. super soft and incredibly tender! The outer layer is incredibly flavorful, giving the fish itself an impressive score of 85! With a specially made green sauce on the side, this dish reaches a score of 100! I highly recommend this dish!
❤️ Lime & Charred Negi Spanish Octopus
This dish is also an amazing octopus🐙! It comes with two large octopus legs and three meatballs of potato🥔. Paired with their special meat sauce, it elevates this dish to another level! The tenderness and freshness of the octopus were already impressive, and the meat sauce, along with the tart-sweet green apple🍏 slices and sweet onions🧅, creates layers and textures that are irresistible!
❤️ Tokyo Express
This is a cocktail based on sake🍶, with a hint of lychee flavor. Whether you usually drink or not, it's a cocktail that's very well-received!
❤️ Nirvana
This cocktail is based on tequila. It’s actually mixed very well! But if you don’t usually drink, you need to be a bit cautious… it's quite strong. If you're not used to drinking, you might find it a bit overwhelming!
Overall, I highly recommend this place! I hope everyone who visits Hawaii can come and try it out—explore other dishes or order the same ones as me to enjoy!
In Hawaii, you can basically see poke everywhere. This little shop is one we stumbled upon while having rice balls nearby! There were so many people queuing that it caught our attention ⚠️. When we got closer, we found that many Japanese people were also waiting to order...
So we decided to join the line to see what it’s all about. Actually, the queue moved quite quickly... When ordering, you can freely choose the ingredients you want and the sauce!
For example, I ordered salmon with shrimp 🦐 and paired it with vinegared rice! For the sauce, I chose their special mix called rainbow. It has a slightly salty and a little sweet flavor! Then, I got to decide whether to add other toppings...
I specifically added avocado 🥑, and my friend added seaweed and salmon roe! Overall, the freshness was quite enough... The fish 🐟 had a sweet taste! The sauce complemented everything well and went perfectly with the rice.
Overall, I personally really liked it. The combinations were unique, and the taste was quite good! If you come to Hawaii and are not too hungry, this is a great option!
This Hawaiian poke located in Gongguan is a favorite among students and nearby office workers. It allows for quick mixing of desired toppings into the bowl for an easy and satisfying meal.
Compared to other pokes, the starting price for adding protein is 149 TWD, which feels a bit more expensive than other places. The staff's politeness could also be improved when taking orders. Additionally, the dining environment is more self-service, and staff don’t actively check on diners. If there are leftover food scraps, sauces, or drink stains from previous diners at the selected table, you may need to take care of that yourself.
This time, I chose the dual-salad bowl, which consists of equal parts lettuce and rice. From the protein selection of four, I chose shrimp and meatballs. For the vegetables, I selected edamame, pumpkin, baby corn, and cucumber, topped with spicy mayonnaise and garnished with green onions. Overall, the flavor was average—neither particularly bad ingredients nor anything that stood out. Although the dual option allows for tasting two types of protein, the portions of each are slightly smaller, which can be seen as both a pro and a con.
In short, dining here can be described as a hearty meal without needing to have high expectations.
I'm Yang. I like to take pictures while eating~
What we brought today is
🗣️Refreshing Hawaiian Bibimbap for Summer
I really started eating Caiwan when there was only one store, and now it is available in other counties and cities.
Really super touching 😭
It’s worth trying for everyone, especially if you don’t want to eat hot food on a hot summer day, you can try poke
❣️By the end of July, go to the official line of Caiban and enter "Enjoy a Summer" to redeem a cup of Hawaiian ice tea
It tastes ordinary🤣 but if there is a discount, use it as a supplement👍
🔺Environment
If you want to eat inside, you have to find a seat first and then order in front. The environment in the store is clean.
As soon as you enter, you can see the entire row of ingredients, which is very reassuring.
There is a plate recycling area at the end. You have to recycle your finished tableware and plates yourself!
🔺Food
Base💰109+cumin pig💰50=💰159
The base is the staple food ➕ five ingredients ➕ sauce ➕ crispy ➕ decoration
Different proteins have different prices, the main difference is here
Don’t worry if it seems complicated, the store clerk will slowly guide you on what to order next.
⚠️Some ingredients require additional prices, and the store staff will inform you thoughtfully☺️
For staple food, I choose thin noodles and half and half lettuce. If you are afraid of being too full, you can choose this!
I have never seen any lettuce change color or become stale😊
My choice of ingredients: Japanese bean sprouts, edamame, zucchini, sweet potato puree, seaweed salad
It’s been a while since I’ve eaten it, and I’m a little sad to find that it used to be spicy bean sprouts but now it’s become ordinary bean sprouts🥲
I love the roasted aroma of their zucchini😍
Sweet potato puree will give you a super big ball
The other ingredients are also very fresh. I have never seen any side dishes go bad after eating it so many times.
🤗Summary
It is recommended to book online so you don’t have to wait.
The difference between eating three years ago and now (inflation is terrible, there is really nothing we can do about it)
There is a price increase at the base level
I think the amount of side dishes has decreased a little bit.
Thickness of zucchini! ! ! The most obvious feeling is that it has become thinner😭
For protein, I recommend Norwegian salmon 🏆 super fresh and cumin pork is also good
Dice Chicken has been tried before with a bit of firewood
As for sauce, my favorite is flax sauce🤤 I have tried several sauces and finally returned to flax sauce.
It's also a breakfast and lunch shop near my residence, but because the prices in Hawaii are too expensive, I usually eat two meals as one, so this time I came with the concept of brunch. This store also starts to queue up after about 9 o'clock. You have to fill in the form first and wait for the clerk to call your number.
The staff are all Japanese, and the food is a mix of Hawaiian and Japanese. For example, the tuna steak meal I ordered does not use sashimi or poke. Instead, it is pan-fried, and the doneness level is about 7 points. I was originally doubtful whether it would be delicious if processed this way. But surprisingly, the original taste of the meat can be tasted very realistically, and there is a salad on the side, so you don't have to worry about the meat being too big and getting tired of it.
The special champagne with tropical fruits is also delicious. I highly recommend this restaurant for its food and service. Just line up early so you won't have to wait long.
🍚Meals
Choice of raw fish rice $150
Base: half brown rice, half lettuce
Protein: Chicken
Side dishes: broccoli/corn/kimchi/edamame/asparagus
Sauce: sesame sauce
Topping: shredded seaweed
Their chicken is in big chunks and has a lot of portions. It tastes quite fresh without any chicken smell. It seems to be marinated with a little spice. It's quite refreshing and not too spicy. It goes very well with their homemade sesame sauce. Paired with it, the sauce is so strong that you will take one sip after another unconsciously! Recommend the flax sauce! !
The ingredients are all above par. My favorite is the kimchi. The acidity and spiciness are well balanced and will not take away the taste of other side dishes. It goes well with the sesame sauce! The other vegetables are quite crisp and refreshing, highly recommended~
🍚Dining environment
This store is small, and even during weekday dining periods, you need to register and wait to be seated. Basically, you need to share a table with others, but there are partitions in the middle, so it is quite friendly to one person ~ The environment is clean and bright, and it is semi-self-service style. Return the plates to the counter by yourself. There is no water provided for internal use. You need to bring your own water.
🍚Overall feeling
This is one of the top three poke restaurants in Taipei that I personally recommend! The ingredients are very delicious and the ingredients are very fresh. Although the space is small and there are many people during peak hours, you have to wait even for daily use. But overall, I will come back many times. It’s a good choice if you want to eat healthy and delicious!
The first meal I had when I first landed in Hawaii was a small shop I randomly saw on Google Maps. I didn't expect it to be hidden in the shopping street on the first floor of the hotel.
Because I wanted to try authentic Hawaiian food, I chose the Hawaiian version of poke. This meal is very special. In addition to our common raw fish cuts, there is also hand-shredded and boiled pork shreds. The texture is very strange. It looks like the meat from canned tuna, but it tastes different. It's pork.
The overall food tastes great, and the many layers suit my taste buds. It's a pity that because the store is very small and it's a takeout shop, there's only a small space in the lobby corridor where you can eat.
In addition, I was really shocked by the prices in Hawaii. A bowl of poke actually costs NT$500, which is too expensive! ! !
Ordered the poke bowl, basic price starts at $215
And because of the salmon option, the final price came to $225
The increase is quite significant compared to the past, and there are more ingredients that require additional price increases. Anyone who wants to eat salmon will have to pay an additional price.
Overall, the ingredients are fresh and the lettuce is delicious. However, my biggest failure of the day was probably the Sriracha Spicy Mayonnaise. I didn’t expect the ingredients to be so substantial. The entire bowl ended up covered in sauce. The taste of the ingredients was a bit confusing, and it ended up being very greasy.
As for whether I will visit again in the future, considering the increased price for salmon, I think it will be very occasionally when I want to eat this type of food, but I have to choose the sauce carefully.
I suddenly wanted to eat in Brussels. Fortunately, there is a Poke near the hotel🍣🍚, but the time may be a bit late (after 8 pm) and there are no people around this block. Please pay attention to safety.
Like the familiar Poke, you can choose your own base protein vegetable sauce, or you can choose the one prepared by the store. You can choose a medium or large bowl for the portion size. Order the medium bowl and you’ll be very full~
The Korean fried chicken I had was great, not greasy, and the seafood sauce was surprisingly delicious! There are also some vegetables that you can’t usually eat in Taiwan. It’s very satisfying to eat with rice and you can finish them in one go! What’s also a little surprising is that the rice is delicious. There must be Zang Datong in the kitchen, hahaha
The interior of the store is warm and comfortable, and the prices are very reasonable!
