The dishes offered by the restaurant, such as filet mignon, scallops, and French onion soup, each have their own unique flavors. The steak is tender, the scallops are fresh, and the soup is rich, though it can sometimes be a bit greasy. The desserts are specially designed, with a refreshing combination of fruit jelly and ice cream.
The restaurant is located in the Grand Hyatt Hotel, has a good atmosphere, and is suitable for celebrations. The decor and ambiance are suitable for dates and important gatherings, making the overall dining experience enjoyable.
The overall service is friendly, but some customers have mentioned that the service is insufficient, such as long waits for phone calls to be answered and insufficient interaction with the teppanyaki chef. The speed of the staff's introductions is quite fast, which may affect the experience.
Scallop with Vegetable Jelly - The scallops were delicious as expected. I personally don't like eating vegetables, but this vegetable jelly was not bad. The bread was okay, just not my style. For the soup, I ordered the cheesy baked onion soup, which was quite rich and I really liked it. Although cheesy baked dishes can get a bit heavy later on, I finished it before I had the chance to feel overwhelmed.
For the main course, I ordered the sirloin steak. The chef recommended medium or medium-rare, so I went for medium and thought it was pretty good—tender and not chewy.
The dessert was quite special; it was my first time trying this type of dessert, and I'm not sure how to describe it exactly. Anyway, it had chestnuts and fruit inside... Overall, it was quite sweet and tasted good, but the texture was very unique.
For a family birthday, we received a birthday cake, which was an ice cream cheesecake.
The overall atmosphere of the restaurant was good, and the service was nice. Although it seemed like there were fewer items on the menu, the portion sizes were just right for me—not so much that I felt uncomfortably full.
Location: Zhongshan District, Taipei City
The restaurant at the Regent Taipei has always been one I paid attention to. Today, I came here with my family to celebrate a birthday, and we booked this restaurant. Overall, I personally found it quite disappointing. The main reason is that the service was inadequate. Here are a few points:
The phone kept ringing but no one answered. My family had to wait a long time while parking, and I could only get there during my lunch break. I was concerned that I might be a little late, so I wanted to call ahead to inform the restaurant. After the operator transferred the call, it rang for a super long time—at least three minutes. It took so long that I eventually gave up. I later called the operator again to explain the situation, and only then did someone return the call. Although none of us ended up being late, it was still frustrating. 🤔
There was almost no interaction from the teppanyaki chef. For me, the biggest difference between teppanyaki and a steakhouse is the chef’s introduction and interaction during the cooking. I don’t know if our chef was just shy or what, but he completely didn’t introduce the ingredients to us. I found that to be a big shame. The chef at the opposite table had much more interaction, and I noticed that. The description of the dishes was entirely handled by the serving staff, but since they needed to serve everyone, they spoke very quickly without much emotion. Having eaten at five-star hotel restaurants before, I think what stands out most about them is the thoughtful service. This experience, however, felt even inferior to that of the Wang Steak Group's Shamooney.
Next, I’ll simply share my impressions of the dishes that stood out to me:
🌟 French Onion Soup with Cheese
This was probably my favorite dish out of everything. It was hot enough, and the onion soup was very fragrant. The cheese’s stretchiness paired perfectly— I really enjoyed it. ❤️
🌟 Pacific Prawn with Honey Mustard Sauce
The flavor was as expected. The prawns were fresh and sweet, with a bouncy texture. The honey mustard sauce brought out another flavor of the prawns. They were cut into three small pieces for easy eating, which was very thoughtful.
🌟 Fillet Steak
The portion was small, but it was tender. It was indeed as the reviews online claimed, and I could really feel the unique texture of the fillet. The garlic sauce paired with it was delicious; it was the perfect finishing touch.
Overall, I wouldn’t consider returning to this restaurant. Unless someone treats me, that is. 🤣🤣🤣 I’ve dined at restaurants in the four to five thousand NT price range before, but this was truly the most disappointing experience to date. A cut is much better and I’d recommend that instead. 😂😂
If you're driving there, you might need to arrive quite a bit earlier. The wait for the parking lot entry took a little longer than expected.
The appetizer is Pacific shrimp and Hokkaido scallops with honey mustard sauce. The scallops definitely show their raw grade quality. The vegetable jelly was surprisingly good; I originally thought it would be nothing special, but the vegetables had a surprising juiciness to them. The shrimp were quite standard, but I found the asparagus a bit spicy (or maybe it's due to the honey mustard sauce).
For soup, I chose the creamy mushroom soup. It was decent, but it got a bit rich towards the end. I feel like it’s a pity that they didn’t offer a lighter soup option, as all three choices were creamy soups.
For the main course, I chose the filet mignon cooked medium. Although the service staff recommended medium rare or medium, I think medium is just right (five-star rating!).
Although the meat was rated highly, the overall value felt a bit lower. However, it’s still a great place for a date or celebration, and the atmosphere is quite nice.
ROBIN'S Teppanyaki is located on the second floor of theحن华 Hotel. Although there is an underground parking lot at the hotel, parking spaces may be full during dining hours. If you do not arrive early, you might not be able to park in the underground lot (on the day of my meal, the parking queue took about 25-30 minutes).
The appetizers are small bites that you can finish in one mouthful, completely whetting your appetite and making you eager for the next dish!
The salad, made with a jellied texture using vegetables, was very nice and showcased the fresh sweetness of the veggies. The scallops were seared to a beautiful color on the outside while managing to maintain the moisture and texture of sashimi-grade scallops on the inside!
The French onion soup topped with cheese was very rich, and the cheese was just the right amount—not too overwhelming (I personally don’t have a particular liking for cheese).
The bread was also grilled on the teppan, paired with sautéed red quinoa and butter, which gave a rather unique texture (though I personally prefer it without the quinoa flavor).
For the filet steak, it is recommended to order it medium-rare or medium; I chose medium. It was served with garlic sauce, pepper, and wasabi from Alishan. The garlic sauce was the most special because it complemented the beef without overshadowing its flavor, pairing quite well. The pepper, when eaten with the steak, was a bit more ordinary, while the wasabi wasn’t too spicy and had a mild kick; you could dip a little to try.
Since I didn’t order any extras (if the portion doesn’t seem enough, you could add something like Wagyu fried rice), after finishing the main course, we waited for them to prepare the beverage station before having dessert and drinks.
Today's dessert featured fruit jelly that included ice cream along with what seemed to be bubbles made from fruit juice; the overall sensation was refreshing and well-blended. As for the drinks (I forgot to take a photo), I chose chamomile tea, which was at a comfortable and pleasant temperature—not too hot.
Perhaps because I indicated that this was a birthday gathering when making the reservation, they kindly provided a small birthday cake at the end. The ice cream on top was very delicious, while the base seemed to be a salted caramel cheesecake—quite a unique flavor!
Overall, the dining experience was pleasant. However, considering the cost in relation to value, it might be a little on the lower side! If dining with friends who have larger appetites, you may need to order extra fried rice to make it just right!
