Compared to our own store, this branch not far away does not require long queues, but the space is smaller and the air-conditioning is not cool enough.
It tastes the same as ours, in line with the taste of Lin Chongming's casserole in my memory. It is worth mentioning that although the casserole soup is based on pork bone stock, flat fish, chives and other ingredients, it also has the flavor of homemade sand tea sauce. If you don’t like sand tea, you may not like it (I do).
Fried fish heads may bring a unique flavor to the soup, but the fish head meat itself is hard and not a particularly worth eating part. According to interviews with store owners in the Netflix documentary "Snacks of the World: Asia", fish heads were originally fried for preservation, and perhaps because some elders liked to eat fish heads.
The Chinese cabbage, pork, and fried bean skin are all quite fresh and delicious, but compared with ordinary hot pot, the price is indeed higher after adding the fish head. Next time you visit, maybe you should order the casserole dish.
I have heard many people recommend the turkey rice here, but it is disappointing, especially compared to the Ahong restaurant not far away. The turkey is cold and the taste is separated from the rice. The two cannot complement each other. . Maybe we are hot chicken fat pie, not soy sauce pie😝
