Located at the Cultural Road Roundabout in Chiayi, Yuanxing Yuxiang is already a legend in the hand-shaken beverage scene. As a graduate of National Chiayi University, the first thing I do when I arrive in Chiayi is to go to Yuxiang to buy a drink.

The most representative drink is the "Grapefruit Green Tea (with Plum)."
This drink seems simple, but it stands out among many hand-shaken brands. The key lies in its nearly perfect balance of proportions. The freshly squeezed grapefruit pulp is tangy and refreshing, while the green tea base brings a subtle tea aroma. Finally, a sweet and savory plum is added, which instantly elevates the flavor layers. At first sip, you experience the vibrant citrus aroma, followed by the sweet aftertaste of the tea and the slight saltiness of the plum, quenching your thirst without being heavy. This is why Yuxiang has become a “must-try” in Chiayi—it turns an apparently ordinary combination into an unforgettable classic.

Yuxiang is situated right at the Cultural Road Roundabout, with a steady stream of people. Regardless of whether it’s a weekday or holiday, there are always people lining up at the entrance. However, the restaurant is quick in serving, so even if you have to wait in line, it's not for long.

Located at the roundabout of the Chiayi Cultural Road Night Market, this beverage shop is a place you haven't truly visited Chiayi unless you've tried its drinks! 😆 I had drinks here many years ago, but I don't remember much. This time, my friend wanted to try it out. We arrived quite late, and the most popular grapefruit green tea was already sold out… so we chose something my friend was interested in.

It tastes quite sour, feeling like pure lemon juice, even with a hint of lemon peel—very natural (?). It pairs well with night market food, refreshing the palate.

Overall, it was good to drink, but unfortunately, we missed out on the most recommended drink. This place really has a line all the time. I've heard from online friends that you can call in advance to make a reservation, and they'll give you an estimated time and number to pick up, which can save a lot of time! Although the staff were busy, they had a great attitude~ I would definitely want to come back again.

To be honest, I was shocked when I saw the price 😨,
a medium size costs $65.
You can get a large, well-filled and delicious drink at an ordinary chain beverage shop for that price!
But since I was already there, I braved the queue and bought it anyway.

Yuanxing has two stores nearby, and I have visited both.
But for some reason, the second store on Zhongzheng Road didn't have a sign for the "discount for eco cups," so in the end, I chose to play it safe 🏃‍♀️ and walked back to the main store at the roundabout, where the "eco cup discount" was displayed.

There were quite a few people in line, but the ordering speed was pretty fast.
The phone for reservations was ringing non-stop 📞, and the small space had six staff members, none of whom were idle.

I was initially very worried: "With so many people, the staff won't have bad tempers, right?"
After all, many famous store employees who have worked too long can be quite arrogant and often get into arguments.
But the moment the staff spoke, my heart melted 🫠
They were super polite 👍. I know they were busy, but they didn't leave anyone hanging; they apologized, worked a bit, apologized again, worked a bit more, and then focused on taking orders after that.

The orders were indeed quite numerous; after ordering, I waited quite a while before receiving mine.
But it’s not hard to understand, I saw many people ordering 3 cups or 5 cups, so the staff has to make a lot of cups at once 🫠

But after taking a sip, I completely understood; I will definitely order it again next time 🥹

A very well-known hand-drink shop in Chiayi, almost everyone in the shops around the Wenhua Road Night Market has a cup.

In this small shop space, there are actually seven shop assistants! Everyone performs their duties and is busy with orders. In addition to on-site orders, they also order by phone. They only accept cash and do not support unified invoice vehicles. They demonstrate what it means to make money standing up.

However, as a customer queuing up on site, it is almost noon on this hot summer weekend, and the wait on site is really too long (half an hour to an hour). It is recommended to make a reservation by phone, or go to Kangshimei next door to enjoy the cool air.

Crispy plum green tea: fixed sugar, less ice, very strong plum flavor, the real protagonist, recommended!

Pudding with fresh milk and black tea: I ordered 2 points less sugar and less ice. The pudding was very soft and the tea flavor was not outstanding. The taste of the fresh milk tea went well with the pudding and was within the expected level.
