Zhongfu Garden Huaining Main Store is located near the Huaining Street exit of the 228 Peace Park. This restaurant is famous for its Jinbing (a type of flatbread).
According to the menu at Zhongfu Garden Huaining Main Store, the origin and characteristics of Jinbing are as follows:
Jinbing is a snack from northern Chinese cuisine, and it is one of the traditional staple foods of the northern people. It is usually sold by weight, hence the name Jinbing. The unique feature of Jinbing is its special preparation technique, which results in a chewy, thin, and crispy flavor. It is different from hard pancakes and not the typical runbing (a type of soft pancake). Since Jinbing itself is not seasoned, the filling of vegetables best showcases the characteristics of both the pancake and the vegetables, appropriately blending their flavors, especially when paired with Beijing-style sauce and shredded meat or mixed vegetables, resulting in a delightful taste and texture.
The two of us went twice and ordered two Jinbing each time. We also ordered three dishes and one (three fresh) soup each time.
The vegetable fillings for Jinbing were: the first time: 1, 2, 3. The vegetable fillings for Jinbing were: the second time: 1, 5, 6.
(1) Dried Beef Shreds: Ordered both times. It was incredibly tasty even on its own, not wrapped in a pancake. The beef shreds and dried tofu are cut very finely, making it irresistible.
(2) Beijing-Style Pork Shreds.
(3) Stir-fried Spicy Chicken: A bit on the spicy side, but the chicken with a spicy flavor wrapped in Jinbing is very delicious.
(4) Three Fresh Soup: Ordered both times. Three fresh ingredients = pork shreds, shrimp, and sea cucumber, plus ginger and scallions, creating a rich flavor.
(5) Mixed Vegetable Dumplings (vegetarian): Includes eggs, dried tofu, and bean sprouts.
(6) Shrimp and Egg Stir-fry: Includes eggs, shrimp, and scallions.
We had two satisfying lunches and would definitely go again.
