Overall Review: 🌕🌕🌕🌘🌑
Dickson's Food Review #225
This time I'm visiting the Michelin-starred Mingfu Taiwanese Cuisine~
Looks like Dickson's star-picking journey has added another stop!
🌟🌟🌟!

I think if you're very interested in Taiwanese seafood cuisine,
you must have already heard of Mingfu Taiwanese Cuisine.
Not only does it have Michelin accolades,
but also other awards such as 500 plates and so on~
This shows how famous this Taiwanese restaurant is in Taiwan!

Basically, it’s quite hard to make reservations.
For those interested in dining here,
you need to keep in mind the reservation timing for this place.

Currently, the reservation time is open on the 1st of each month at noon,
for the following month's reservations.
So if you’re interested in making a reservation,
remember to set an alarm and book on time~~~

Moreover, there are indeed very few tables in the restaurant,
so getting a seat is also quite difficult!
The influence of this long-established Taiwanese restaurant is indeed different!

You can tell from its exterior that it's a long-standing Taiwanese cuisine restaurant.
Just from the outside, you might not feel it's a place that has received Michelin stars for years.
It indeed gives a vibe of just walking past a traditional Taiwanese stir-fry or cooking shop.
But after all, true masters hide among the masses!
A store that looks quite ordinary on the outside
is a Michelin-starred establishment in Taipei!

In terms of the menu,
it is also very rich, whether it's general Taiwanese dishes, Buddha jumps over the wall, or seafood dishes,
you can find it on the menu.
It gives off a feeling of a Michelin restaurant just around the corner!
Indeed, it's a low-key luxurious option!
However, it’s important to note that
some of Mingfu's dishes are primarily seafood-based,
and besides seafood, there are quite a bit of offal as well.
So please be mindful if any companions have dietary restrictions~~
This will require special attention when choosing items on the menu!

However, some dishes must be reserved in advance~
For example, the crab rice~~
If you want to try it, remember to pre-order with the restaurant!

Additionally, since the restaurant only accepts cash,
if you are coming with multiple friends or foreign friends,
be sure to prepare cash in advance~~~

⭐️Food Section
Since Mingfu's menu has a lot of offal dishes or special preparations,
we actually ordered quite a few similar dishes that day.
However, because we didn't pre-order the crab,
it was a bit regrettable not to taste their signature crab rice~~

👉 Tender Pig Liver $400
The liver was indeed very tender,
and the sensation when eating it felt like eating something very soft.

It felt like going back to the old days of enjoying pig liver soup~

👉 Mountain Yam $300
This dish is part of the greens,
and it was handled quite well.
If you already like the delicate texture of mountain yam, you would probably love this.
However, Dickson's feelings about mountain yam are just so-so. 🤣🤣🤣

👉 Garlic Stir-Fried Fish Tendons $700
This was my first time knowing about such an ingredient!
It gave a sense of trying something new~~
Overall, it has a very bouncy texture!
It was a nice first experience with this ingredient~

👉 Crispy Pork Intestines $480
This crispy pork intestine is also one of their signature dishes.
Many people come here specifically to order this dish.
When served, the intestines are quite grand;
you can see a whole plate full of intestines! 🤣🤣🤣

I think the way they handle the intestines here is quite delicious.
The exterior has a crispy texture,
but the inside is equally soft and tasty.
And overall, it’s not too greasy,
so even when you see so many intestines on the plate,
you still feel light after finishing it.

👉 Mullet Roe Fried Rice
If you're looking to have rice dishes here,
I would definitely recommend the mullet roe fried rice~

This fried rice is quite aromatic,
and the ingredients are very genuine!

👉 Buddha Jumps Over the Wall
I think many people come here specifically for this dish!
This Buddha jumps over the wall seems to be a must-order item.
Its ingredients are quite plentiful,
which is why it's called Buddha jumps over the wall!

The ingredients inside are also very unique,
including chicken and various other goodies.
Eating it is quite nutritious~~
Finishing the whole meal doesn't feel burdensome at all;
the ingredients and flavors are quite rich and generous.
No wonder many come here just to order this Buddha jumps over the wall~~

👉 Garlic Oysters $300
The garlic oysters section features fresh oysters
paired with plenty of garlic preparation,
and the freshness of the oysters is very good~~

👉 White Cut Free-Range Chicken $750
I personally found this white cut free-range chicken a bit ordinary,
and there wasn’t much difference from the usual ones outside,
plus the portion was really small.

I personally feel that this dish isn't particularly worth ordering here~~

👉 Taro Balls
This is like a dessert after the meal.
The overall taro flavor is quite genuine and delicious!
I personally recommend ordering this as a post-meal dessert!

👉 Garlic Stir-Fried Fish Maw $800
This ingredient is also quite rare to see outside.
Also, this was Dickson's first time trying it!
It was a completely new experience.

It has a very unique taste,
soft and chewy,
and stir-fried with garlic really enhances the flavor~

In terms of food,
you can feel this place really has its strengths,
no matter the freshness of the ingredients,
or the overall cooking methods, etc.,
it really has a long-established feel.
Indeed, they've created their flavors~

They also utilize a lot of special cooking techniques and ingredient methods,
and many things are really hard to find outside!
Including some of their offal dishes or special seafood dishes,
if anyone is genuinely interested in these cooking methods or ingredients,
you really should come and try it out!

Such as their famous crab dishes or Buddha jumps over the wall,
these are generally known to the public, and people want to try them.
I personally think that people should come and order some of these dishes to try!

The cooking methods and flavors here are truly good~
Although it doesn’t have a refined cuisine feel,
as I mentioned before,
you can consider it as your neighborhood Michelin-style Taiwanese cuisine restaurant.
Just remember to reserve a spot early to dine!

Additionally, if you want to come here,
I still recommend gathering a group to go,
after all, the dishes here are still meant for sharing.
Gather a few friends to fill a table,
and you can order more dishes to share and enjoy together~~

⭐️Drinks Section
That day, since we didn’t order anything special to drink,
I won’t comment much on this section!

⭐️Atmosphere Section
As mentioned, this restaurant feels quite traditional in decor,
and the space inside is really not large,
with only about six round tables for dining,
no wonder it is quite difficult to book a reservation!

The atmosphere in the restaurant resembles typical traditional Taiwanese restaurants~
Everyone dining around a round table like that,
so in terms of atmosphere, it’s just a regular shared dish restaurant.

Of course, it’s very suitable for bringing your parents or the whole family here to dine.
That day, I also heard customers at the neighboring table say
they come here every year at this time to make a reservation!

⭐️Service Section
There isn't much special service here,
including that ordering and food serving are quite basic.

Additionally, since this place only accepts cash,
if you’re dining here, remember to bring cash.
After all, the prices here are not low~~

Furthermore, regarding reservation,
remember that on the 1st of every month, they open up all reservations for the next month.
Since there’s no online reservation method,
those who need it should remember to set an alarm and give them a call~~

⭐️Price Section
As you can see, the prices on the menu are actually quite high.
Each dish generally has a high unit price~~
It seems the Michelin reputation
also makes the prices here not cheap~~~

If you have a full meal,
including ordering some items like the crab or Buddha jumps over the wall in advance,
the overall price might not be low.
Regarding regular Taiwanese cuisine, it may still be slightly on the higher side.

But to some extent,
because of the Michelin fame,
I think part of the pricing also reflects that. 🤣🤣🤣

⭐️Location Section
This restaurant is closest to the Zhongshan Elementary School MRT station.
It takes about ten minutes to walk from the station,
so it's really not too far.

However, there aren’t any other special attractions nearby,
so you can consider it a special trip to dine here.

But as a Michelin restaurant,
I suppose everyone would indeed make a trip here to eat, right? 🤣🤣🤣

⭐️Overall,
I think in terms of food, this place is pretty good.
Just like I feel,
it’s akin to your neighborhood Taiwanese restaurant,
but it is one of the leaders in Taiwanese cuisine that is Michelin-rated.

And this time, I got to taste many amazing ingredients,
many of which I tried for the first time.
So if anyone has a special interest in these ingredients or cooking methods,
I think you should hurry over and make a reservation!!

In terms of food, I feel there’s not much to nitpick.

It’s just regarding the ingredients or the menu,
it really depends on each person's preferences for ingredients.
After all, this restaurant has a lot of seafood items,
and besides seafood, there are many seafood organs and such.

So you'll need to check with your companions about what they want to eat~~

But regarding the overall difficulty of booking and the ambiance in the restaurant,
I feel it's just average.

After all, the difficulty of reservations also determines whether we can enjoy the food from this restaurant.
If it’s truly hard to book, we won’t be able to enjoy it. 😮‍💨😮‍💨😮‍💨

Additionally, because many items in this restaurant
have slightly higher prices,
it may also be because of the ingredients and unique cooking methods,
which causes the prices of these items to be a bit high.

But overall,
I think as a Michelin restaurant,
everyone really should come here to try it!

🤪 Dickson’s Rant Zone 🤪
This place is not a dating spot~~
It’s more suitable for taking the girlfriend's parents to eat here.

I believe the Taiwanese cuisine and the food here
would be quite loved by the elders!
And it has a retro overall vibe.

At this moment, if you win over the taste of the girlfriend’s parents,
you might also win over their hearts.
Winning over the girlfriend's parents' hearts
means you might win over the girlfriend’s heart, right?

Seems like it doesn’t quite work that way. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
But at least it should add some points, right!

Just think about it,
taking the girlfriend's parents to this Michelin Taiwanese restaurant
instantly gives you bonus points in their eyes.

Then your relationship with your girlfriend would surely be better, right? 😍😍😍

🤪 Dickson’s Rant Zone, see you next time! 🤪
