📍 Xinyi District, Taipei City
Consistent Quality | A Must-Try Signature Soup Dumpling 🇹🇼🥟

Dintaifung is truly one of my favorite restaurants. The wait times at the Tianmu and Zhongshan locations on weekends are super long!

Recently, I discovered this A13 branch near my office, and the wait time for a table during lunch on weekdays is very friendly—usually, you don't wait more than 5 minutes.

The environment in this store is very comfortable, maintaining a similar decor style. However, it has two floors, and the seating is more spacious and further apart. I highly recommend dining at this location.

🍽️
I eat at Dintaifung way too often. Here are some less common menu items I’d like to share:

🐮 Braised Beef Noodle Soup (half tendon, half meat):
My favorite fine noodles, a bit firm, and the broth is rich. The best part is that the soup can be refilled for free! They also give an extra bowl of broth loaded with scallions 🥣.

🥬 Mountain Vegetable:
Not very cheap at $390 per dish, but the selected leaves are super green and tender! The seasoning includes little dried fish, making it very flavorful.

🐑 Lamb Dumplings:
The aroma of lamb combined with cilantro makes for a unique dish without the strong lamb taste. I’d want to order this again.

🐔 Chicken Soup Dumplings:
Unlike typical pork soup dumplings, this one has the aroma of chicken broth and comes with a dumpling shaped like a little chicken to indicate it’s chicken-flavored, which is very cute 🥰.

🐓 Chicken Soup:
Simmered to a clear finish, it has a flavor somewhere between chicken soup and chicken essence, feeling very nourishing! Delicious!

🍄
Would I revisit: Yes!

Location: Xinyi District, Taipei City

A world-renowned chain of soup dumpling shops
In the Xinyi District, which is a cluster of department stores,
I know of several Din Tai Fung locations,
including A4 and the A13 where I dined today.
A friend who came up from the south wanted to eat,
so we planned to go and get a number.

It’s been a long time since I drew a number in Xinyi District.
I looked online to see what others shared
and it was mentioned that A4 is the best, followed by A13, and then 101.
Indeed, coming from the MRT red line, I immediately saw Din Tai Fung at 101 and it said to wait 180 minutes.
Fortunately, other friends came from different directions
and drew A13, which was about a 55-minute wait.
It was a perfect arrangement to wait for another friend to finish work.

🌟 Pork Rib Fried Rice + Red Oil Dumplings (Shrimp)
This is a must-order set from Din Tai Fung.
The pork ribs are absolutely delicious, with the perfect thickness.
The skin doesn't overpower the meat's flavor at all,
and the seasoning is just right.
The shrimp-filled red oil dumplings are my favorite;
the red oil is not overly spicy and not too greasy,
and the skin has a nice texture.
After finishing the dumplings, I added the remaining red oil to the fried rice,
giving it an extra spicy kick, elevating the already flavor-packed fried rice.
I highly recommend this addition to those who haven’t tried it.

🌟 Stir-fried Green Beans & Stir-fried Cabbage
The seasoning of the green beans is very fragrant,
and you can smell the aroma.
The green beans are not overcooked,
preserving a nice crunch without becoming mushy.
The cabbage is lightly seasoned,
but the portion is quite generous, which was surprising.

🌟 Fresh Meat Soup Dumplings & Red Bean Soup Dumplings & Taro Soup Dumplings
The soup dumplings are the most famous dish at Din Tai Fung.
I often find myself counting the pleats on top as they come closer to my mouth—just for fun! 😂😂😂
The fresh meat soup dumplings are filled with savory broth,
and they are served hot right at the table.
Both the desserts and the fresh meat are incredibly delicious,
and each dish meets Din Tai Fung’s standards.

It’s been a while since I ate at Din Tai Fung.
The main reason is that there are usually too many people,
and you can’t make a reservation—you have to draw numbers on-site.
Fortunately, the Xinyi District has quite a few locations to choose from,
but in other areas, there is often only one location to queue for,
which leads to long waits.
However, I believe the quality and standards of the dishes are unquestionable,
and the level of service is also very high.
I really recommend taking foreign friends here to eat if they come to visit.

✨The Most Famous Taiwanese Soup Dumplings✨

Today, I visited the Din Tai Fung restaurant at Xinyi A13. The restaurant is located on the 1st and 2nd floors, with waiting and entry on the 1st floor. Regardless of peak or non-peak times, there are always many people in line, but compared to the 101 location, the crowd is not as overwhelming and the dining space is quite spacious, so I highly recommend dining at this branch.

Today's meal:

  • Pork Rib Fried Rice $280
  • Red Oil Dumplings (Shrimp) $230
  • Chicken Soup in Original Bowl $230
  • Water Spinach $230
  • Loofah and Shrimp Soup Dumplings (5 pieces) $170

Recommended Eating Method 👍
The fried rice must be drizzled with the sauce from the red oil dumplings! After mixing it, you will get a plate of very fragrant and delicious fried rice with a hint of spiciness 🔥

I find that the pork rib fried rice is a bit bland on its own; without some salty seasoning, it's quite hard to finish alone, haha. Fortunately, the sauce from the red oil dumplings is plentiful, so I mixed the sauce with the dumplings first, then poured the remaining sauce over the fried rice. The portion was just right~

The quality of the fried ribs is consistently good, not overly greasy, and they have a thick and solid texture.

The water spinach is delicious when stir-fried on-site, with a very fresh green color. After being stir-fried with garlic, the aroma of the water spinach really shines through, making it crunchy and refreshing.

Din Tai Fung’s hot and sour soup has never suited my taste, so I ordered the chicken soup instead. The chicken soup is very rich and flavorful, containing plenty of chicken meat, mostly from the thighs, which is very satisfying.

The soup dumplings I most recommend are the “Loofah and Shrimp Soup Dumplings”! The fresh aroma of loofah offsets the greasy feel of the soup dumplings, making them very tasty on their own. As for their signature Golden Eighteen Folds, it is perfectly represented in each soup dumpling, leaving little to critique 💯

Overall, my dining experience this time was excellent. The professionalism of the waitstaff made the entire dining process smooth and enjoyable, with delicious and consistently good dishes, and a comfortable and spacious environment.

The brilliance of Taiwan doesn't need much introduction, right? 🤩 Din Tai Fung, in my heart, is a place where every meal may not leave you awestruck, but it’s an indispensable presence. After each meal, I feel very satisfied and fulfilled.

You don’t have to worry about service, quality, and flavor, because they might care more than you do, which gives me great peace of mind. I hope such a good brand can continue to exist and thrive!

This time, I visited the A13 branch. The restaurant has two floors; the first floor is for waiting and a souvenir area, while the second floor is the dining and payment area. The space is quite large, and compared to the nearby 101 branch, you can save a lot of waiting time.

Every time I come here, I end up ordering the same dishes, and I particularly recommend:

✐ Cold Appetizers: Roasted gluten, Spicy cucumber, Shaoxing drunken chicken
✐ Hot Appetizers: Crispy shrimp cake
✐ Soups: Beef soup in a clay pot, Chicken soup in a clay pot (sometimes the chicken can be a bit dry, but the broth is definitely fresh), Truffle mushroom soup in a clay pot
✐ Main Dish: Vegetable fried rice (not many people order it, but it's truly delicious; you can eat it plain first and then add a little soy sauce for flavor. Even though I'm not vegetarian, I always order it)

Also, you must add the red oil dumplings to your fried rice order. Here’s a secret recommendation for the half shrimp, half vegetable version (it's a hidden menu item; just let the staff know after you place your order). For those who want to try both flavors, it's a real blessing!

If you still have room, you can order the shrimp pan-fried dumplings—let me tell you what it means to be crispy and juicy!!!
✐ Desserts: Eight-treasure rice (many people can’t accept it, but I really like the chewy and sweet texture), Sesame bao (both large and mini are delicious), Golden molten lava buns, Red bean sponge cake.
