Finding a restaurant in Taipei that offers reasonably priced, generous portions of high-quality Italian pasta isn’t easy, but Promettente, nestled in the alleys of Yongchun, is the kind of place that will surprise you and keep you coming back for more. The dishes here not only use quality ingredients and boast outstanding flavors, but they also include drinks or cheese, making the value incredibly touching. 🥹
Highly recommend the "Garlic Anchovy Pasta."
The homemade anchovy sauce is savory and layered, paired with slices of pork, garlic, cherry tomatoes, and basil, creating a bright yet rich flavor. What really elevates it is the addition of a raw egg yolk when served, making the overall texture smoother and richer. The savory and creamy elements intertwine, making it one of the most memorable pastas I’ve had recently!
Another dish is the "Volcano Beef Dice Pasta."
This is a fiery option for spice lovers. I opted for "mild," but the heat is nearly at "super hot" level—deliciously spicy without being throat-burning. The diced beef is stir-fried to perfection, remaining juicy and tender. Even with the spice enveloping it, the beef's presence is still felt, making it fragrant and appetizing. 🌶️
For dessert, there’s the "Plain Cheese."
It has a smooth texture, with a pure and natural milky flavor—perfectly balanced without being too sweet or rich, making it a high-quality way to end the meal.
Then there’s the "Amber Cheese."
Drizzled with brown sugar sauce, it significantly elevates the sweetness, making it a favorite for those with a sweet tooth, but I personally prefer the pure and clean flavor of the plain cheese.
Overall, Promettente Italian pasta is not just about clever pricing; it’s also about ample servings and, most importantly, great taste. From the main courses to desserts, everything is sincere and hearty, making it a place I would willingly recommend to friends and revisit. However, I do want to remind everyone that I previously tried the white sauce series and found it lacking, which is a significant contrast to the above two dishes. I suggest sticking with the garlic anchovy pasta.🤣 If you're looking for high-value Italian pasta in Taipei, this place definitely deserves a spot on your must-visit list!
