In the alleys near the Shui Xian Gong, there are quite a few impressive little snack shops hidden away. "Shui Xian Gong Pan-Fried Dumplings and Meat Balls" is one of them. The name is quite plain, giving the impression that it's the kind of place locals would quietly enjoy. I arrived at noon this time, but the owner was already preparing to close up, and all the pan-fried dumplings were sold out, which was a bit disappointing.

So I had to settle for the meat balls instead. The meat balls here were somewhat surprising—the meat wasn't minced but in small chunks, giving it a better texture. The sauce was also nicely balanced, sweet but salty without being overwhelming; overall, it was tasty.

The outer skin wasn't too thick or sticky; it was made in a lighter style. The most thoughtful part was they also provided a bowl of clear soup—just a small bowl, but drinking it warm made me feel better.

Although it's a pity I couldn't try their signature pan-fried dumplings, the meat balls are worth a try. If you're passing by and feeling a bit hungry, you might consider stopping in for one; you won't regret it.
