This morning around 10 o'clock, I was wandering around Ximen Road in Tainan. The weather happened to be a bit hot, so I wanted to find something cold to quench my thirst. After searching on Google Maps for a while, I found that although this area is a prime battlefield for Tainan's food scene, there aren’t many places open in the morning selling cold drinks. Just when I was about to give up, I stumbled upon a place called “Shijia Zheng Amei Mung Bean Soup”.
The shop isn't big, and there aren't many seats. However, the small space at the entrance is quite nicely decorated, giving it a somewhat Taiwanese elegant vibe. They mainly sell mung bean soup and mung bean juice, belonging to the traditional snack style—simple but quite friendly.
I ordered a cup of mung bean juice, while my friend chose a bowl of mung bean and barley. Overall, the flavor is quite good; it’s not overly sweet and has a refreshing natural taste without the feeling of too much artificial syrup. Drinking it ice-cold is really refreshing. While it may not have any shocking highlights, having such a cold cup of mung bean juice at this time in the morning is definitely a kind of happiness.
In summary, if you happen to be around Ximen Road and want to find a place to sit and cool off, this shop is indeed a nice choice. Especially in the summer in Tainan, if you're looking for something cold in the morning, this is one of the few options for salvation.
