This is Jin Pin Tea House, which seems to have been opened by a master from Din Tai Fung. The exterior looks a bit like a place that mainly caters to tourists; on that day, we saw quite a few foreigners dining there.
There were six of us eating together this time, and we ordered the following:
Crab roe soup dumplings ×1 250 TWD
Shrimp siu mai ×1 250 TWD
Shrimp fried rice ×1 250 TWD
Stir-fried pea shoots ×1 360 TWD
Delicious grilled square ×1 420 TWD
Scrambled eggs with shrimp ×1 320 TWD
Lettuce shrimp filling (slices) ×6 480 TWD
Vinegar fish slices ×1 380 TWD
Hot and sour soup (large) ×1 200 TWD
Meiling sponge cake ×1 70 TWD
The favorite was the stir-fried pea shoots, tender and not bitter, showing freshness. The crab roe soup dumplings had quite a bit of broth, be careful not to burn your mouth. The shrimp siu mai was also good, with the shrimp being crisp and elastic. The shrimp filling was okay, refreshing and not greasy. The grilled square was to my liking, with the perfect lean-to-fat ratio. The vinegar fish slices were less to my taste; perhaps it was not the preparation I am used to, as the flavor was a bit too sour for me. The hot and sour soup and fried rice were decent, not particularly impressive, but stable.
The service staff were very friendly, and the overall dining experience was quite good, suitable for bringing friends from out of town to try.
