📍Datong District, Taipei City (Dadaocheng Shopping District)
The crowd continues to flow in | A rice noodle snack shop originating from small food carts 🥣🥡🥢

Walking on the streets of Dadaocheng in the scorching summer is indeed very hot 😆 We found this air-conditioned snack shop to dine in.

When we arrived just after eleven in the morning, there was no need to queue. The shop's aunties warmly welcomed us to our seats. Upon entering, we discovered that the shop had a surprising amount of seating inside! By the time we left, there was a long line.

🥘
Order items:
🥄 Rice noodles (small, $35) dry/soup:
We ordered one bowl of dry and one bowl of soup. Personally, I think the rice noodles are very light, with only the flavors of chives and crispy shallots. The soup had a bit more flavor, reminiscent of dried bonito stock.

I was a bit disappointed with the texture of the rice noodles; they didn't have the chewy bite I expected and broke apart easily, somewhat like a thicker rice vermicelli soup. I later found out that these noodles weren't made from pure rice flour but also included corn starch.

The small bowl was quite filling, packed with rice noodles, and paired with side dishes, it made for a satisfying meal!

🍢 Mixed platter ($65):
Delicious 😋 A rare sight, a mix of sliced meats 😝 paired according to the day's side dishes, with about 1-3 pieces of each type.

Although I wasn't sure what some of the ingredients were 😆 everything was prepared well and tasted great. I particularly enjoyed the sausage (maybe it was fresh sausage or a chewy type of sausage).

When served, they didn't add sauce, but the auntie reminded us that we could add our own condiments at the table, including soy sauce, chili sauce, and pepper.

🐽 Pork skin ($25):
Cooked until it has a transparent color and substantial thickness, recommended for pork skin lovers.

🫔 Fried tofu ($10):
An average level of tasty fried tofu.

🍄
Would I revisit? Yes!
The prices are very reasonable! I would come back just for the sliced meats 🫶🏻

Street FoodChiayi City

A bit disappointing. The idea is good, but most of the food in different stalls (tested 3) is pretty average and oily. Nothing else to do inside. But nice picnic table to spend some time with friends. Prices are ok.

Genuine food enthusiasts know that it’s not always about set menus & ostentatious wine pairings. Occasionally, we just wanna head out without a fuss, throw on a pair of preppy shorts for a snacky bowl of old town’s sweet juicy roasted pork, crabmeat & wontons noodle in rich chx broth & a icy c0oL cup of fresh aromatic banana mixed berries cold-pressed juice. It’s often the hearty, casual & simple meals that bring out the true scrumptious taste of Thai. For any ‘anytime, anywhere’ occasions, we’d recommend expats, tourists or even locals to gather in this Bangkok’s top street food court. Sometimes, there’s nothing better than quasi-street eats (with air conditioning, ofc, heheehh). Here, we roam around the Bangkok’s signature food court for the city’s most ordinary yet eXtraordinarily delectable drinks & noodles feasts. nom nom nom + affordable + ample aircon + vibrant vibes + fast + plenty of comfy seats + exotic background music + bromantic sexy lightings + noisy atmosphere all around u like dining in an overcrowded concrete jungle with all the unknown mythical creatures from all over the universe speaking in their languages = fun fun fun 🥰✌🏻
