Located in the famous Ningxia Night Market, the crowd during meal times is busier than expected.
For dining in, you can order a bento box, but you need to fill out a separate order slip.
The pork rib bento is very delicious and quite up to standard, with generous portions and three side dishes, offering great value for money.
The candied plum blossom pork has a crispy skin and is very tasty; the portion is also decent, making it perfect to pair with rice.
The霸王麻瘦饭 (Bawang Ma Shou Fan), which I hadn't tried before, I ordered to see how it is. Compared to the braised pork rice I had before, it has a spicy flavor. The taste is quite good; if you like spicy food, you'll probably love it. However, in terms of price, I might still prefer my usual braised pork rice, which would satisfy me just fine.
I originally wanted to visit the Ningxia Night Market, but the road is under construction, and the vendors were forced to move to the side. They said it won't be completed until the end of October, so I had to go to the nearby Hu Xu Zhang to eat. The shop is clean, bright, and tidy, with QR codes on the tables for ordering. There are quite a few seats, but I don't know if it's because of the construction, there aren't many people around.
Regarding the food:
There is a new dish, the "霸王麻瘦飯" (Big Bowl of Spicy Lean Pork Rice), which costs NT$64. The spiciness is rather strong and overshadows the flavor of the braised pork, which I personally prefer to taste more in braised pork rice.
The "胭脂梅花豬" (Blush Pork), priced at NT$65, is crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, paired with a spicy sauce that makes it really good with rice.
Located in the Ningxia Night Market, the name of the Huzhu Zhang branch is actually "Food Culture Center". I wonder if it's because there are many foreign tourists in the Ningxia Night Market and Lu Pork Rice is the highlight of Taiwanese cuisine.
There are two self-service ordering machines at the entrance of the store, and there are many payment methods to choose from, such as credit card, Line pay, EasyCard, etc. Today is a takeaway, and after ordering, you can go to the night market first. Then go directly to the food pick-up port and follow the number to pick up food.
Big bowl of pork rice $58
The Lu Pork is mostly fatty meat, and the marinade is quite fragrant. Even my friends who dare not eat fatty meat think the Lu Pork Rice is delicious ~ but it’s really expensive! The price of pork rice is not something you can eat for dinner every day.
Tangshan pork ribs $90
The texture of every bite is very solid, not the kind of fried ribs that are thin and have no meat when chewed. It tastes very satisfying, but again, it is so expensive for such a small piece.
Overall, although the price is too expensive in the Lu Rou Rice world and it is not a restaurant where you can eat five meals a week, the taste is really good, with a score of over 80. I think I will still come here to eat it, and I can also bring foreign friends. Come and eat~
