Rheinfang Konjac Mung Bean Soup started in Tainan in 1992. The shop is quite simple, and 25 years ago, it opened its first konjac mung bean soup store on Minsheng Road in Tainan. There's also a store in front of Longgong Temple on Zhongshan Road, and another one at the Guanghua Night Market in Kaohsiung. The unique QQ konjac is a perfect treat for the hot summer days; a bowl of dense and chewy konjac mung bean soup is refreshing. Rheinfang's flavors are indeed distinctive, with a creamy mung bean texture and soft, tender konjac. This bowl is satisfying and fills you up.
At Rheinfang's Minsheng store, there are two tables in the arcade area, and the dining utensils are quite unique, hanging on the wall. After dining, you need to sort your trash yourself.
The menu for Rheinfang's Konjac Mung Bean Soup features all items primarily made with konjac, along with complementary ingredients like barley, mung beans, and red beans. If you don’t want to eat konjac, you must inform the staff; otherwise, it will definitely be included. The offerings include mung bean, red bean, barley, winter melon lemon, brown sugar grass jelly, rock sugar white fungus, red bean matcha, and seasonal winter specialties like red bean soup dumplings, longan rice porridge, sesame paste, and more. I think I should try the brown sugar grass jelly konjac next, and come back for the sesame paste in winter.
Konjac Barley Mung Bean: 💰45
The sweetness is fixed and cannot be adjusted. The cup is filled to the brim with ingredients, and the portion is quite substantial. Rheinfang's QQ konjac is delicious. Unlike other mung bean soups in Tainan that add powder balls, konjac has become my recent favorite. The creamy mung bean, soft barley, and QQ konjac create a satisfying experience that fills you up.
Personal thoughts: I have passed by this place many times without trying it, but once I did, I discovered something new. The combination of konjac with mung beans and barley is really good. I recommend it to anyone looking for something other than the usual options.
