Tokyo Giyicawara Ramen Shop Food Review Share~

I never expected that Taiwanese people could also enjoy Giyicawara Ramen. As a fan of Giyicawara myself, when I go to Japan, visiting ramen shops is definitely one of the must-see spots in addition to specialty stores.

Most Taiwanese might think that getting in is a difficult task (for example, some shops require a lottery system that requires a local Japanese phone number, like the Giyicawara restaurant in Ikebukuro, which is basically inaccessible to foreigners). I initially thought it might be hopeless as well, but later I discovered that the ramen shop lottery website allows account verification using Taiwanese phone numbers!

✨ No need for Japanese phone verification, and no need for a lottery ticket. You just need to log in, verify your account, register for the lottery, and wait to be selected.

In this post, I want to write a somewhat instructional visit review, hoping to let more Taiwanese fans of Giyicawara know how they can have a chance to dine at this ramen shop. Therefore, the review will include a lot of restaurant photos and screenshots of the website registration and lottery process. If you want to see the lottery process, you can scroll down below~

This time, I visited the Tokyo branch of Giyicawara Ramen, located in B1 of Shibuya Parco, which is very convenient to access.

Now, let’s talk about the overall evaluation of the ramen shop!

Meal ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Jikikawa Ramen actually leans more towards "Jiro-style ramen," which means a mountain of bean sprouts and cabbage piled high, topped with rich pork backfat and an extra hefty spoonful of minced garlic. Just looking at it is truly intimidating... Ramen sizes include: * Small bowl (S) Jikikawa * Medium bowl (M) Shobachi * Large bowl (L) Usachi The staff will proactively ask about the firmness of the noodles, the amount of minced garlic, and the soup's richness, as well as the quantity of bean sprouts for adjustments. The deliciousness of the ramen is actually quite average; it probably earns extra points just for the branding. The large Usachi ramen is really a huge portion, with the noodles alone weighing 350g. By the end, it can be a bit overwhelming, so it's recommended for those with smaller appetites to order a medium bowl or smaller. But of course, if you're getting Usachi, you have to go for the large bowl! The price of being a parent is really high, haha.
You can order many bottles of drinks at once, and it's fine if you can't finish them and want to take them away. Of course, you should try every flavor of the Jiji Kawa powder with each drink. The drinks themselves weren't anything particularly special; the cola and oolong tea are similar to what you can buy outside. Personally, I recommend the Shisa version of orange juice; it's refreshing and not overly sweet, making it a great match with ramen!
**Environment ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️** The entrance to the ramen shop is filled with adorable elements. While placing your order, you can also purchase exclusive merchandise from the ramen shop. Inside, you feel like you've stepped into a world of cuteness; from the wall decorations to the table settings, you can see how much effort the shop has put into its decor. I especially love the overall clean atmosphere of red and white, and while enjoying ramen, you can watch cute animations of ramen and various characters playing on the TV on the wall, which is very soothing! At the entrance, there are life-sized statues of the three main characters, Xiaoba, Xiaokawaii, and Usach, in ramen chef versions, where you can take photos after your meal. As a fan of kawaii culture, I give it a perfect score! The only minor drawback is that the seating is a bit cramped; if you're not careful, you might bump into the person behind you. Also, the merchandise you purchase at the counter will be brought to your table while you’re eating, so you might end up with your hands full of stuff, leaving you almost no space to put things down, haha.
【Ramen Shop Lottery Application Guide】 How to apply for an account: Just search for the website Livepocket on Google. It has an English version in addition to Japanese, so it's okay if you don't know Japanese. Once you enter the site, click on "新規登錄" (New Registration) in the upper right corner to register. Then click on "初次註冊" (First-time Registration) below (the ones above are for accounts that are already registered and can log in directly with linked messaging apps; otherwise, you need to register first).
The registration form should be filled in order with your email, password, name (either in Chinese or as it appears on your English passport), and you can choose Taiwan from the address dropdown menu. ⚠️ Please note that you must enter your real name, as the electronic tickets for the drawing are real-name tickets, and your passport will be checked at the entrance. If the name does not match, you will be asked to leave! --- After registering, you still need to check your email for a verification email and enter the verification code. You will only complete the registration once you have done this! But! It’s not over yet:
Because if you want to enter through a lottery, you must first go through mobile SMS verification. At this point, go to Account Settings 👉 Select SMS Verification 👉 Directly enter your mobile number starting with 09 👉 Then press Verify -> Send 👉 Simply send the numbers via SMS to complete the verification! Some users online have mentioned that SMS verification is not successful; in this case, just change the SMS verification to Phone Call Verification. There's no need to enable roaming, and it should work successfully!
Once verification is successful, you can go to draw for the entry tickets to Chiiwaka Ramen Shop! Return to Livepocket, search for Chiiwaka or the Japanese text ちいかわ, and you’ll see the shops and dates currently available for the lottery. As far as I know, there are shops in Osaka's Shinsaibashi, Nagoya, and Tokyo's Shibuya Parco. Some shops may have dates that are a few pages later, so make sure to check the time and location you want!
Click on the store you want and the date, and it will look like this~
The lottery is based on days, and each store can only hold a lottery once a day, with several time slots available throughout the day. For example, if on November 9th you choose the time slot from 11:00 to 11:15, you won't be able to select any other slots on the same day, but you can draw for multiple days at the same time without any issue. You can select two tickets during one draw, and it's okay to bring a companion. When entering, they will only check the identity of the person who participated in the lottery. I have to say that this time at the end of September, my friend and I entered the lottery for ramen shops in Tokyo, and both of us drew for five different time slots over five days, giving us a total of ten chances to win, but in the end, we only won once! It was really close, and I almost thought we would lose completely. I would have really cried 😂 Therefore, I suggest that if you plan to stay in Japan for several days, you could go ahead and register for those days first. After confirming that you've won, you can then flexibly arrange your itinerary, following the concept of not putting all your eggs in one basket!
After registration, you can see the recorded event in your tickets. An email will also be sent to inform you whether you have won after the lottery. The gray one means "not selected," indicating that you didn't win, the green one is still waiting for the draw, and the orange-red one means you have definitely won! Next, you can get ready with a happy heart and bring your passport/ID as you head to the ramen shop~
This is what your ticket wallet will look like after the selection. The screenshot above shows two tickets, and when you click in, you will find a voucher with a QR code below. Remember to show the bottom ticket on your phone and an ID that matches your name to the staff for identity verification when you enter! ✅
Arrived on time at the entrance of PARCO Ramen Shop, where the entry time sign has already been set up.
We were the first to enter, and by the time we finished and came out, there were already many other batches of customers waiting outside to enter. You could say it was a continuous flow throughout the day!
This machine is actually fake 😂. When you check in at the front counter to verify your identity, you actually need to directly tell the staff to: 1. Place your order 2. Order side dishes 3. Check out Then you’ll be taken to your seat to wait for your ramen to be served. So there’s no way or opportunity for you to use this machine. Thinking about it later, it makes sense; for a store that needs to strictly control the flow of people, having a full-service checkout is still much faster~
Finally, you can enjoy the ramen from Jigikawa! 🍜 I wish all the Jigikawa parents can successfully draw the sorting tickets and come to the ramen shop to see the cute babies cooking ramen! A bow as I step down 🙇
