A night market steak with great cost-performance value 🥩🐮
As a long-time resident of Beitou, I hadn't been to Beitou Market for food in a while 🤪. I thought of this five-star restaurant I saved on Google Maps, which seems to have many regular customers. The owner took a break for a time and then reopened the shop.
Upon entering, it immediately reminds me of the night market steaks I've known, with the owner skillfully grilling meat at the cooking station in front of the shop, filling the air with a delightful aroma.
Inside, another elderly gentleman warmly greets me and asks what kind of meat I want and what type of noodles I'd like to choose.
After ordering, I was quickly served hot garlic toast, and there's a soda drink bar and corn chowder available for unlimited refills 🥰. The Coca-Cola vending machine is also quite a deal.
🐂 Special Steak ($190):
I chose spiral noodles (which are less textured) for one portion and straight noodles for another. I preferred the chewiness of the straight noodles.
The steak was cooked to about medium, but I felt it was a bit overcooked; however, it was still aromatic. The meat quality resembled a whole cut and didn't feel like it was tenderized with chemicals or baking soda. Compared to typical night market steaks, the texture was more resilient and chewy.
With black pepper sauce and mushroom sauce, both sauces had strong flavors. Given the price point, the quality is quite good!
