The soup dumplings are rich in flavor, and dishes such as shumai, beef noodles, silver thread rolls, and sesame balls are also very delicious, comparable to Din Tai Fung.
The restaurant space is large, bright, and clean, with a comfortable atmosphere that attracts many celebrities and Japanese guests.
The staff can effectively manage busy meal times and provide good service.
A very famous restaurant where many celebrities are regulars. It seems to be opened by a chef from Din Tai Fung, and it has a high popularity. The entrance doesn’t look large, but recently I learned that there’s also a seating area next door and even a basement, making the entire space very big, bright, clean, and comfortable, with a great overall atmosphere.
In the basement, our section has large round tables, and there is another area that I didn’t check out, so I’m not sure about the seating arrangement there. We have four tables, and except for us, all the other customers are Japanese. The business is really good, so the dining time is limited.
The soup dumplings indeed squirt juice, proving they come from the same lineage. Other dishes like siu mai, beef noodles, silver thread rolls, and sesame balls are also quite delicious; the business doesn't lag behind Din Tai Fung at all.
Is it for historical reasons? There are many Shanghainese restaurants on Jinan Road, which has become a micro-scale economy🤔
The soup dumplings are delicious! The skin is not particularly thin, but it also adds some satiety; the soup and filling are good. The fried pork ribs don't have thick skin and the meat is quite tender, so it should go well with fried rice. Green vegetable, tofu and egg drop soup is a bonito soup base. But water lotus is a bit oily, so it must be paired with a bowl of rice.
I thought the price was a bit expensive, and it was a bit too oily after the meal. I wanted to drink tea all the time. Maybe I will choose other restaurants nearby if I want to eat Shanghainese food in the future😅
This place was renovated at the end of 2023, and all the interior decoration was updated. Although the new visual theme is lively and youthful, it lacks the flavor of an old store (although I don’t know if it is a real time-honored store).
In addition, there should be introductions from foreigners? The clerk can speak Japanese to serve Japanese customers, which seems to be a necessary skill for a soup dumpling shop🥸
