Zhen Zhen Beef Noodles is located near the Houshanpi MRT Station, just about a minute's walk from the station. It is an old beef noodle shop recommended by locals. The faded sign at the entrance and the banner mention "Si Si Nan Village," which was a well-known military dependents' village in the Xinyi District around the 1950s.

Today, I took out the braised half tendon half meat noodles, priced at 190 TWD.

The soup base is a deep brown color with a rich aroma of braised sauce, and the beef flavor is quite prominent. The preference for hand-kneaded noodles is actually very subjective; I can only say that this isn’t the type of noodles I am used to, as the texture leans towards being sturdy rather than bouncy.

However, the half tendon half meat is incredibly delicious. The beef and tendon are in equal parts, with the beef being very tender and the tendon melting in your mouth, chewy with a substantial gelatinous feel.

Overall, it is a pretty good Chinese military dependents' village cuisine. The decoration in the shop is simple, with an average number of seats, and the old boss in the military village style is friendly and warm. Because the style of hand-kneaded noodles doesn’t quite suit my taste, I would consider trying a different place that focuses on Chinese pancakes next time.
