A restaurant that serves traditional Taiwanese snacks in a clean way without losing its soul, with a neat and bright environment. Diners need to take their own tableware and return it to the recycling area after use, which makes the overall flow clear and creates a comfortable dining experience. The staff is friendly, and the experience from ordering to dining is quite pleasant.

The "Braised Pork Rice" is primarily made with fatty pork, offering a rich gelatinous texture. The marinated sauce is salty with a hint of sweetness, aromatic yet not overwhelming. The rice is evenly coated in the sauce, making it a great choice for those who enjoy traditional fatty braised pork.

The "Braised Egg" is well-seasoned, with a moist yolk and a rich aroma, pairing perfectly with the braised pork rice or enjoyable on its own. The "Braised Cabbage" is refreshing and easy to eat; while it may not be particularly stunning, its moderate saltiness and soft texture provide a nice balance to the oiliness of the braised pork rice.

The "Spicy Chicken Soup" features a clear broth with a noticeable kick of spice. The initial slight spiciness is followed by the sweetness of the chicken, making it both enjoyable and invigorating. The chicken is tender and blends well with the aroma of the spicy peppers. The "Red Dates and Goji Berry Chicken Soup" takes a warm and healthy approach, being sweet and smooth, especially suitable for slightly cooler weather, making one feel warm after drinking.

The takeout bento is generous in portion, accompanied by a variety of side dishes, at an affordable price and high practicality. For office workers nearby, it's a great option for a quick meal.

Overall, Jin Yong Braised Pork Rice not only retains the traditional flavors of fatty and gelatinous braised pork but also shines with its soups, particularly the spicy chicken soup, which leaves a lasting impression. Coupled with a clean environment and friendly service, the entire dining experience is significantly enhanced. The recommended combo is Braised Pork Rice + Braised Egg + Spicy Chicken Soup, a simple yet complete way to experience Jin Yong's core flavors.

Located near the intersection of Hulin Street and Songde Road in Xinyi District, Taipei, "Jin Yong Braised Pork Rice" is a relatively new traditional snack shop. The exterior is simple and the dining environment is clean, making it one of the good choices for braised pork rice in the area.

This time, I ordered three items: braised pork rice, braised cabbage, and chicken soup with red dates and goji berries. Overall, the experience was satisfying!

First up is the signature "braised pork rice." The braised pork used is mostly fatty, yet surprisingly, it does not feel greasy at all; instead, it has a smooth, melt-in-your-mouth texture. The braising sauce is rich but not overly salty, mixing well with the hot rice, making it the kind of dish that you can keep eating bite after bite without realizing it—finishing an entire bowl effortlessly. They also provide enough sauce, so you won’t be left with a pile of plain rice. For fans of fatty braised pork, this bowl is definitely worth a try!

Next is the "braised cabbage." It is cooked soft enough to soak up the aroma of the braising sauce and is refreshing without being greasy. The only minor downside is that the pepper is a bit heavy-handed, somewhat overshadowing the sweetness of the cabbage in the latter bites; if it could be toned down, it would be even better!

The most surprising dish is the "chicken soup with red dates and goji berries." It is definitely the hidden champion of this shop. The broth is warm and sweet, making it comfortable to sip without feeling heavy. The chicken wings and thighs are stewed incredibly tender, separating from the bone with just a gentle push, without any dry or tough texture. Overall, it feels warm and nourishing, especially suitable for cooler weather or when you need a comforting bowl of hot soup.

In summary, while "Jin Yong Braised Pork Rice" primarily focuses on classic Taiwanese braised pork rice, their chicken soup series is equally impressive and showcases a sincere street-side snack shop. If you happen to be in the Hulin Street or Songde Road area, this is an affordable choice that does not compromise on quality. I especially recommend the combination of chicken soup with braised pork rice—it's warming and satisfying. I look forward to trying the skinless spicy chicken soup next time! 🌶️
