"Jimbocho Curry" is located near Minquan West Road Station, about a 7-minute walk away. The restaurant has very few seats, only one row of bar seating.
We arrived on Sunday evening around 7 PM, and the place was completely full, with a group of customers waiting outside; the owner was very friendly and interesting.
Since takeout prices are significantly cheaper than dining in, with a difference of 10 NT dollars, we opted for takeout. For takeout, you just need to go inside and order from the owner; it seems that you can only pay in cash.
Chicken Curry NT$160 (takeout price)
For takeout, the curry sauce is served separately from the rice, and the portion of white rice is not very large. If you want extra rice, it costs an additional NT$20. The contents are quite simple, just white rice accompanied by a piece of broccoli, a baby corn, and a slice of carrot, but the portion of chicken was quite generous; I recall getting 5 or 6 pieces, and the chicken was very tender and skin-on thigh meat, which I was very satisfied with. The amount of curry sauce was also ample and covered all the white rice without any issues. The curry sauce allows you to choose the spiciness; I selected a little spicy, but I feel like next time I should choose mild, as the spiciness would be more pronounced and also more fragrant. The curry seasoning is on the richer side, which I personally quite like; I would give it a score of 7.
Overall, the price of the takeout curry rice is quite acceptable, and the meal is delicious. I would be willing to buy it again, but I would still choose takeout because the dine-in price feels a bit expensive.
