Almond tea has a rich and smooth flavor, with a thick texture and a pleasant natural almond aroma. Even without any ingredients, it is still very flavorful on its own and satisfying.
The shop has a strong nostalgic vibe, and the outdoor seating is designed with low tables and chairs to create a relaxed dining atmosphere, perfect for enjoying cold treats in the summer.
The service efficiency is good, offering a variety of almond tea options, allowing customers to easily choose the drink that suits them best. It is recommended to come early to avoid running out of ingredients.
This time I arrived at "A Qing Almond Tea" on Baohan Road in Tainan around 10 PM. Although it was close to closing time and many ingredients had already sold out, I still managed to get their signature almond tea. Personally, I actually prefer hot almond tea with youtiao (fried dough sticks), dipping them in while I eat, but this time only bottled iced almond tea was left.
This bottle of iced almond tea tasted rich and smooth, with a thicker texture and a faint natural almond aroma—it wasn’t that strong, sharp smell of artificial flavoring, making it a very pleasant drink. Even though I didn’t get any toppings this time, it was still satisfying on its own; the flavor was quite substantial, and I felt fulfilled after finishing it. The thickness even gave me a bit of a feeling of fullness, so if you’re in a situation where you’ve already eaten a lot for dinner but feel like drinking something, this almond tea might even make you feel even fuller; I felt a little stuffed after drinking it. 😆
The shop is located at No. 82, Baohan Road, Central-West District, Tainan, and it operates from noon till 11 PM. I recommend that if it's your first time visiting or you want a more complete experience—like having almond tea with youtiao, red beans, or tangyuan (glutinous rice balls)—it's safer to come early. Otherwise, like me this time, if you arrive late, you might just end up having tea. Still, even so, I felt it was worth it.
"Almond tea makes people want to drink it from time to time. Drink it hot in winter and iced in summer."
As a student in Tainan, I eat all the time when I return to Tainan
Stop 9 of Tainan’s 400 Years of Food and Drink Tour - Aqing Almond Tea
The store looks very old-fashioned, and the outdoor seats are all low tables and chairs, similar to those used to eat danzi noodles; but it’s too hot today, so I just want to buy it back to the restaurant to drink
The main thing sold here is almond tea, which is available hot, iced, in cups, bottles, and bowls (takeaway cups are divided into 3 sizes: large, medium, and small; internal bowls are divided into 2 sizes: medium bowl and small bowl) )
There are also various ice products related to almond tofu sold here; it is worth mentioning that there is a very special item here: hot almond tea with free-range eggs. This is the first time I have seen this way of eating, but I’m sorry, but I still don’t like it. Dare to try😂
Iced almond tea (medium cup 500cc) $55
The first time I took a sip, I was amazed by its rich and mellow taste. It is the kind of almond tea without almond residue. The aroma of almonds is very obvious. The more I drink it, the more I like it. However, the price is a bit expensive.
Overall, it is a delicious almond tea. If you have friends who like almond tea very much and happen to be nearby, I would recommend coming here to buy a cup, but it is not a store where you need to go all the way to eat.
