This legendary Tainan beef soup establishment, "Liù qiān,"
I came to pay homage at four in the morning many years ago, and I remember waiting until after six to finally enjoy the hot beef soup.
This year, upon visiting again, I was lucky to arrive at around eight in the morning and didn’t have to wait in line at all.
It just so happened that the people in front of me had just eaten, so I simply ordered a bowl of the signature:

As soon as it arrived, it was filled with slices of beef, paired with a sweet and refreshing broth.
The beef slices were incredibly tender, whether eaten directly or dipped in a bit of ginger soy sauce, it was absolutely delicious.
As for the soup, my favorite way to drink it is to add a little rice wine, which enhances the overall aroma, making you sip one bowl after another until there’s not a drop left!

There are countless varieties of beef soup in Tainan, and you can almost find them at any time of day, but truly, there aren’t many places that make people willing to line up at dawn.
Liù qiān is that kind of old establishment worth waking up early and waiting in line for.
I sincerely recommend you give the "Tainan flavor" a try; you must drink it at least once!

Famous Tainan beef soup attracts a crowd even before dawn, mostly consisting of young tourists.

This shop features an uncommon all-female quartet of owners who have clear divisions of labor and greet customers warmly. After taking a number, you can wait near the shop.

The steaming hot soup boasts fresh, rosy beef that is cut and placed into the beef broth, remaining pink and tender when served.

The beef soup is rich and mildly sweet, with the broth being slightly cloudy, while the beef shank soup is a bit clearer. Both broth flavors are the same, but the raw beef slices are naturally more tender and delicious than the well-cooked beef shank. Dipping the beef slices in a bit of cold sweet sauce with ginger adds another layer of flavor, but during colder weather, I prefer to simply drink the soup and eat the meat directly.

If you arrive after dawn, you may only find the beef shank soup left. However, even if you only get the broth, it's still a delightful experience, and there's no need to wake up early to stand in line.

《Environment》
Every region has its own unique breakfast options, and this beef soup is the source of energy for locals. The indoor seating area is open air and lacks air conditioning, which can be uncomfortable if the weather is hot. Sometimes you may need to share a table with others. If you don't like the dine-in environment, you can opt for takeout and enjoy it at home. The shop separates the beef and the soup, so you can experience freshly prepared beef soup at home.

This is a must-order item. There's no denying that the freshly prepared beef soup is incredible—super delicious and something you'll want to drink again and again. There's also a generous portion of beef, which is tender and tasty on its own, and even better with soy sauce and shredded ginger.

《Parking》
There are actually many parking lots near Guohua Street🅿️, with most prices ranging from 💰30 to 45/0.5hr. If you're lucky, street parking is surely the cheapest. There's a parking lot🅿️ right across the way next to Louisa, but it has few parking spots and the prices are shockingly high🐭.

《Service》
Even when the shop is busy, they manage to organize seating systematically, and the speed of serving food is very fast. Although there are a lot of people waiting in line, it moves quickly.
