The roasted goose melts in your mouth, with juicy and sweet meat, perfect for those who enjoy strong flavors. The blanched vegetables paired with soy sauce are refreshing and delicious. Iced lemon tea is an excellent choice to cut through the greasiness, and Hong Kong's lemon tea is particularly tasty.
The restaurant is very popular, requiring about an hour of waiting in line. It is recommended to take out to avoid waiting.
The wait time is long, and the service efficiency is limited by the crowd, so patience is required.
I can only say that this way of queuing really makes people tired, but that's the price you pay for a famous restaurant. Usually, you have to wait for about an hour to be able to sit down and eat; otherwise, I would generally recommend taking it away.
The roasted goose is a must-order. There are only two of us, so we ordered a quarter. At first bite, it was truly heavenly (cue the background music of the Food God~). How can meat be so juicy, tender, and sweet? Plus, because geese have more fat, it pairs perfectly with rice. However, the more you eat, those who are not used to greasiness might find it increasingly repulsive. So, I think for those who prefer lighter meals, even with four people, ordering just a quarter is enough 🤣.
Next, most of the restaurants in Hong Kong serve blanched vegetables primarily using long-stemmed and leafy Chinese mustard greens, which I think are less common in Taiwan. However, they are still very delicious when plated and drizzled with soy sauce.
Finally, to counteract the greasiness from the roast goose, you absolutely cannot miss the iced lemon tea. I find Hong Kong's lemon tea inexplicably delicious; they use yellow lemons instead of the green limes found in Taiwan. Many people might not know this! But it's definitely a drink you can enjoy every day as a popular hand-shaken beverage in Hong Kong.
My first meal in Hong Kong was the Michelin-rated Kam Brand Roast Goose. There was a huge queue. After getting the number plate, I waited for about an hour and a half before entering the store. Lunch turned into afternoon tea. The store was very crowded and there were not many seats. There is a lot of meat. The meat is cooked as soon as it is available. By the time we arrived, the roasted meat was gone, so it depends on the timing. The meat of the roast goose is soft and tender, and the skin is slightly crispy. The salty and sweet sauce goes well together. The lean part of the barbecued pork is not burnt, and the meat taste is full. But I may have too high expectations for Hong Kong barbecue, and I didn’t get it. It’s delicious and it’s such a long wait. I ordered shiitake mushrooms and tofu for the braised side dishes, which was quite unexpected. It was not braised to a strong taste, which suited my taste well.
