This is a well-known bento shop in Keelung, located within an alley. Even on a weekday afternoon before 5 PM, customers are already starting to gather.
A "greasy" warning is posted at the entrance to caution visitors, which suggests they have faced quite a few complaints. 😂
The air inside is filled with the strong aroma of food, and the bento only has one side dish (not counting the sauerkraut), unlike traditional bentos that usually have multiple sides.
I ordered the pork rib and shrimp rice. The fried pork ribs were thin and soft. According to the author of "Keelung Flavors," their semi-cooked egg is highly sought after and performs well. However, the main characteristic seems to be that this fried egg is treated with a dry frying batter, and the texture of the dry batter particles is quite unique. The shrimp is very small but also stands out because of the batter texture.
For dining in, you can choose either pork bone soup or miso soup; I opted for the latter, which is a traditional skipjack tuna miso soup. The skipjack tuna flavor is strong but not overly salty, and with a few pieces of tofu added, the soup is highly recommended.
