📍 Near Ximen Zhongshan Hall, there is a Chinese restaurant that sells bento boxes, noodles, dumplings, and luwei (braised dishes). The food is relatively good, but the portions are a bit small and the prices are somewhat high. It is close to the Zhongzheng First Precinct and several banks, and business is decent during lunch.
🍽️ Environment
Most of the dining tables are for four people, accommodating about 20 to 30 clients, but the spacing between them is not very large. Upon entering, customers should find a seat on their own, place their order at the counter, and wait for their numbers to be called to pick up their meals, without needing to clean up afterwards. The air conditioning is not very cool, and there is a restroom available.
🍱 Meals
▪️ Braised Chicken Thigh Rice $160
The chicken thigh is quite large, although the bone is also sizeable. The skin looks dry, but it doesn't taste too chewy; it retains some juiciness. The side dishes are not fixed and also in small portions. This time, it included king oyster mushrooms, one braised egg, cabbage, zucchini which was quite popular a few weeks ago, and an egg dumpling that I’m not sure why it was included 🙄. The seasoning for the side dishes is not too strong and is generally acceptable.
🗣️
In summary, the meal is fairly tasty, but the portion of side dishes is small. The portion of the main dish depends on the item; for example, the squid is pitifully small, while the chicken thigh and pork chop are decent. Given the prices, the cost-performance ratio is low, making it suitable for those who are unsure what to eat, when the weather is too hot, or when it’s raining heavily and don’t want to walk too far.
