Jia Run Bing is located in Puli, Nantou, and I always bring one back every time I visit or pass by. The shop offers a special selection of spring roll skins daily, with more than ten varieties. This time, I had the strawberry skin, but you need to specifically request it; otherwise, they will use the regular white skin. There are 12 flavors available, with prices ranging from 50 to 70 TWD, and you can customize it by removing ingredients like peanut powder or cilantro. Additionally, the shop provides free bonito fish and pork bone soup.
This time I ordered the green Sichuan pepper skin and century egg spring roll for 70 TWD. I had tried it before and thought it was good; the numbing aroma of the green Sichuan pepper pairs very well with the century egg. Adding a bit of sweet peanut powder makes this combination quite unique compared to regular spring rolls. I took it home to Taipei, and it still tasted great. The portion of the spring roll is sufficient, with plenty of vegetables, so one is enough to fill you up. Next time I'm in Puli, I will definitely visit this shop again. I heard there is also a branch in Xinzhuang, but I haven’t been there yet.
