This time, just a 7-minute walk from Shin-Okubo Station! You can savor particularly delicious meat dishes among Korean cuisine, including the rare thick cuts of Samgyeopsal (pork belly) and Moksal (shoulder butt)! Featured in the popular TV program "King's Brunch," we visited the popular restaurant "Bulbam"!
What is Moksal…
It refers to the meat around a pig's neck, and since there is no specific part name for "Moksal" in Japan, it seems they procure the part closest to the neck of the shoulder butt. It is characterized by a lot of red meat and tenderness, and while in Japan, it is often used for high-quality tonkatsu, eating it grilled is what "Moksal" is all about.
What is Degmakchang…
It refers to the pig's rectum and is a dish made by grilling the pig's diaphragm over a grill or iron plate. Since pig diaphragm is located at the very end of the pig’s large intestine, only about 250g can be obtained from one pig, making it a very precious part.
Not only can you enjoy such rare meat dishes, but also delicious stews and cold noodles, along with mayo rice! Furthermore, it's not just the food; the all-you-can-drink options are abundant to complement the meat. The staff grill the meat right in front of you, allowing you to enjoy the deliciousness of Korean cuisine at the perfect level of doneness with ease.
The meat, of higher quality than both aged and undercooked, had pure white and moderately firm fat, which was juicy, mild, and delicious! It has a rich and deep umami flavor, so I want you to experience a different taste of pork than ever before.

【Exquisite Meat Platter Set】
It was my first time trying Degmakchang, and the outside was crispy; the moment I bit into it, the sweetness and umami of the meat spread in my mouth. The crispy texture was irresistible. Unlike regular hormone, it melts away, making it incredibly delicious. Also, the side vegetables were plentiful, and wrapping them in Sanchu made for a light and refreshing bite!
The inside of the restaurant has table seating on the 1st and 2nd floors, with a warm atmosphere typical of Korean restaurants. It seems that it can accommodate drinking parties, girls' nights, banquets, and private bookings, so enjoy these rare meats according to your purpose!
Once again, Harapeko-chan is fully satisfied!
