Dickson's Fooday Review #241 - Tokyo, Japan Edition
After Dickson and his friends returned from Lake Kawaguchi to Tokyo, it was time for dinner, and of course, they had to feast! Speaking of Japan, how could one not enjoy some delicious yakiniku? Japanese yakiniku is truly cheaper and more generous compared to Taiwan! Plus, the service in many restaurants is excellent!
This time they visited an Osaka-style yakiniku restaurant that has similar branches in Taiwan, where they have dedicated staff serving you at the table. Since they hadn’t had Osaka-style yakiniku before, and they found a place nearby after getting off their transportation, they decided to check it out and see what Japanese yakiniku is like!
Of course, with this more affordable price, it doesn't compare to top-tier yakiniku restaurants in terms of meat quality. However, overall, I think the meat quality here is quite good. You probably wouldn’t find the same quality in Taiwan for the same price~~
Moreover, the table-side service in Japan is really warm and lively. In Taiwan, some table-side services are just basic grilling assistance, with some staff even approaching it with a routine attitude. But the Osaka-style yakiniku experience in Japan was quite pleasant, as their staff were dedicated to serving you and continually interacting with you. It felt a bit like having a friend helping you grill your meat.
Of course, this aspect depends on everyone's feelings—perhaps some people prefer not to be interrupted, haha! But for us that day, it was very enjoyable!
That day, they had a rather unique barbecue, with a big bone in the middle resembling a cartoonishly large dog bone. This made it very suitable for taking photos!
There are really many Japanese yakiniku restaurants on the streets of Japan. The yakiniku I've had so far in Japan has been quite satisfactory, so I recommend everyone to try various Japanese yakiniku restaurants. After all, the prices here are not high, yet you can enjoy great yakiniku! How wonderful it would be if I could have yakiniku for every meal without affecting my health! 😂😂😂

⭐️ Food
That day, we ordered a lot of ingredients to enjoy, and almost every type of yakiniku was cooked by the staff. While the cooking skills of the staff weren't extremely professional, I thought most of the grilled meat tasted quite delicious. For the price, I feel that the food was quite good.
Regarding the meat options, the menu had a wide selection, including chicken, pork, beef, etc. You can basically order all the basics from the menu. Besides these meats, if you want to eat other cooked dishes or snacks, those are available too! There should be enough options here to satisfy everyone’s needs!
⭐️ Drinks
Of course, a Japanese yakiniku restaurant offers basic soft drinks and alcohol. That day, they also held some activities where you could draw lots for drinks.
Unfortunately, we didn't win any special prizes that day, but just participating in the game made everyone very happy!
The soft drinks here were pretty standard; nothing particularly special.
⭐️ Service
Since there are dedicated staff members to grill for you, I think the service was quite good. The quality of the grilling was acceptable, and most of the meats were well-prepared.
However, the primary focus was on the atmosphere. The waiter serving us was very professional and funny. Since we also brought a baby that day, the staff was considerate of the child’s feelings and really good at entertaining kids.
So overall, I think the service was quite commendable!
⭐️ Atmosphere
The restaurant is located on a street filled with restaurants, with many izakayas and yakiniku places nearby. Most of the storefronts have a distinctive decoration that makes it obvious they are izakayas or yakiniku restaurants in urban Japan. Although the entrances of the restaurants are not too large, they usually have at least two or three floors for dining.
Therefore, the space arrangement wasn’t too crowded. That day, we dined on the second floor of the restaurant. The seating area wasn't overly crowded, just right for adults, providing everyone adequate space to enjoy their meal.
The decor inside was more of a typical yakiniku restaurant feel. Overall, the restaurant had a warm atmosphere suited for gathering with friends or family for meals!
⭐️ Price
Since this place is mainly à la carte, the pricing here allows you to eat more for less compared to Taiwan. Moreover, I think the overall service quality here is quite good, making eating yakiniku in Japan much better than in Taiwan!
You can feel that even though prices in Japan can be higher, when it comes to yakiniku, it really makes you want to come back and eat more!
⭐️ In summary
I think if you come to Japan, if you have extra time or flexibility in your itinerary, you should definitely take more photos related to Japanese yakiniku. Of course, this presupposes that you already enjoy eating it! 😂😂😂
After all, eating Japanese yakiniku in Japan is genuinely more economical than in Taiwan. Whether it’s the service or the deliciousness of the meat, for the same price, it really is cheaper in Japan.
So you don’t necessarily have to pick a specific yakiniku restaurant. As long as you find one where you can get a reservation or has good reviews, you can just walk in and enjoy a meal!
After all, travel-wise, Japan is quite close and easy to reach. So why not quickly plan a yakiniku trip?~~~
