Located in Taipei, High Skewers is a lively little shop that's perfect for gathering with friends after work for a drink. The lighting inside is slightly dim, and with wooden tables and chairs, you can feel a relaxing atmosphere as soon as you step in.
This time, I ordered draft beer, grilled zucchini, lamb skewers, and beef scallion rolls. The draft beer is ice-cold and refreshing, with fine bubbles that perfectly complement the oiliness of the skewers. The grilled zucchini is unexpectedly refreshing, with a slightly charred exterior while still retaining moisture inside, offering a mild sweetness that goes well between the richer dishes. The lamb skewers are grilled just right, without a heavy gamey taste; they have a slightly charred aroma on the outside, while the inside is juicy, and a sprinkle of pepper salt enhances the flavor even more. As for the beef scallion rolls, they are the highlight of this meal; the beef slices are not too thick, just enough to wrap around the scallions. When you bite in, you first taste the rich flavor of the beef, followed by the spiciness and crispiness of the scallions, creating a delightful layered experience.
