🍺 Suzuyoshi: An Izakaya Gem in the Heart of Taito

As the sun drifted lower in the sky, my friend and I found ourselves drawn to the lively atmosphere of Suzuyoshi, a charming Izakaya tucked away in the vibrant Taito district of Tokyo. From the moment we stepped through the noren curtains, we were enveloped in the warm, convivial energy that defines the true spirit of this beloved Japanese pub culture.

The interior of Suzuyoshi exuded a perfect blend of tradition and modernity. Worn wooden beams and vintage lanterns lent an air of rustic authenticity, while the polished bar and sleek furnishings added a contemporary sophistication. We settled into our cozy corner table, eager to embark on a culinary journey.

The menu at Suzuyoshi was a symphony of tantalizing small plates and expertly crafted libations. We began our feast with a selection of scrumptious canapés - the stewed snacks were bursting with umami flavors, each bite a delightful balance of tenderness and texture. As we sipped on the restaurant's signature craft beers, perfectly chilled and brimming with complex notes, we knew we were in for a truly memorable dining experience.

The pièce de résistance, however, came in the form of the Izakaya's signature dishes. The grilled yakitori skewers, each morsel tender and smoky, elicited delighted hums with every savory morsel. The perfectly balanced okonomiyaki, with its crisp exterior and fluffy interior, had us reaching for more despite our growing fullness.

What truly set Suzuyoshi apart, however, was the impeccable service and the genuine warmth of the staff. They navigated our requests with seamless efficiency, offering recommendations and insights that enhanced our understanding and appreciation of the menu. It was clear that the team at Suzuyoshi takes immense pride in their craft, creating an atmosphere that is both inviting and refined.

As the afternoon gave way to evening, we reluctantly bid farewell to Suzuyoshi, our bellies full and our hearts content. This Izakaya gem had undoubtedly left an indelible mark, a place we will eagerly return to again and again to savor the flavors and conviviality that make it a true standout in the bustling culinary landscape of Taito City.

🍻 Cheers, xoxo 🥢

For tourists and locals alike, the true draw of Suzuyoshi lies in its impressive selection of artisanal "Hoppy Beers." These small-batch brews, crafted with meticulous attention to detail, offer a unique window into Japan's burgeoning craft beer scene.
Whether you're a seasoned connoisseur or a curious newcomer, the knowledgeable “bartendering ladies” are more than happy to guide you through the menu, offering tasting notes and pairing recommendations to ensure you discover your new favorite. There are White and Black versions of Hoppy Beer as well as specially crafted beer such as Lemon Beer 🍋💦
From the crisp, citrusy notes of the Yuzu Lager to the rich, roasted undertones of the Imperial Stout, each sip is a revelation, perfectly complementing the Izakaya's robust flavors.
Beyond the impressive libations, Suzuyoshi also shines when it comes to its delectable culinary offerings. The kitchen team's mastery of traditional Izakaya fare is on full display, with each dish showcasing a harmonious blend of time-honored techniques and imaginative flair. The kushiage, or deep-fried skewered bites, are a must-try, with the pork belly and seafood (squids or shrimps) variations standing out as particularly mouthwatering.
For those seeking a more substantial meal, the tonkatsu, a succulent pork cutlet coated in a golden, crisp panko crust, is a true standout, served alongside a perfectly balanced tonkatsu sauce that elevates the dish to new heights. Whether you're a seasoned Izakaya enthusiast or a first-time visitor, Suzuyoshi's delectable delicacies are sure to leave a lasting impression. 🫶🏻 Love YOU All, lovely foodies 🌈👬🏼

Mr.Q燒肉小酒館
Izakaya

Tanzen Izakaya
IzakayaPetaling Jaya
Known the restaurant back when it opened a couple of years ago. Used to be a nice chill place for drinking but once it became viral, its always super packed. We walked in for an early dinner and since it was just the 2 of us, they were able to accommodate us. The other tables had reservations on them. You order through the tablet, hence i am unable to upload the menu. It has a wide variety of food, from ramen to skewers; along with japanese beer and alcohol. I had a bad experience with the server regarding the beer promotion (need to say the key phrase to get a discount). I ordered in the ipad and called the server over to get the offer. Unfortunately the server said i need to call him over and he will key in the system. This doesn't make sense for me as the drink is already listed as a option in the system, and you usually wont need to interact with the server 🤷‍♂️. I was quite unhappy with the response and cancelled the drinks order. And that interaction ruined my night. Personally for me, i felt the quality of food went down after it became popular. And today was no different. The Seafood tempura, garlic fried rice looked ok but didnt have any taste to them. The tanzen clams, my wife liked them but i didn't. One of my clams had some sand in them and overall didn't have much taste. The pork belly skewers and gyoza were ok, nothing special about them. Price wise, things were quite expensive and not worth it in my opinion. Personally, I wont come here unless its to drink japanese beer/alcohol or i am invited here for functions. Do note that its still popular so maybe its just not right for me. Do give it a try and form your own opinion
