Located near the MRT Technology Building Station, Atithi Indian Restaurant & Bar serves authentic Indian cuisine with a focus on traditional flavors. In addition to standard curries, naan, and snacks, the menu offers a variety of options, including vegetarian dishes and "Indian-Chinese" dishes that blend Taiwanese flavors. While dining, the children at the table behind us kept asking for more fried rice, which was quite amusing. The restaurant attracts many families and groups of friends, creating a relaxed atmosphere well-suited for group dining.
On the day of our visit, the restaurant treated us to a serving of Papad crisp, which was thin and golden, paired with two classic dipping sauces that had rich layers of flavor.
I was particularly eager to try the Indian street snack, Pani Puri. The outer shell was crispy, while the filling was refreshing, accompanied by a sauce made with a mix of mint, coriander, tamarind, and other spices. It had a slight antiseptic taste that might be a bit shocking for Taiwanese diners; not everyone may love it, but it truly embodies the soul of Indian street food and is worth a try.
For our main course, we chose Gosht Rogan Josh, a spiced lamb curry. This dish was amazing; the lamb was incredibly tender and juicy, with no gamey taste at all. The curry sauce was thick and generous, with a rich flavor highlighted by red pepper and various spices. It is definitely one of their signature dishes worth recommending.
The Tomato Soup left a strong impression—rich and smooth, accompanied by crispy croutons, creating a complete texture experience.
The Plain Naan was rather thin and crispy; while it was decent, it wasn’t particularly outstanding.
The Garlic Naan was pungently garlicky, but it had a layer of butter that made it somewhat similar to Taiwanese garlic bread. I personally prefer a pure garlic flavor, as the butter might overpower it.
Both the Lassi and Masala Chai were on the sweeter side, with a nice expression of spice.
Overall, Atithi is a comfortable restaurant that serves thoughtfully prepared dishes with a wide selection, making it suitable not only for avid fans of Indian cuisine but also for friends looking to try something new.
We visited on a holiday evening, and the bill for two, including service charge, was around NT$1400. If you're concerned about pricing, I recommend visiting on weekdays to enjoy their NT$199 business lunch or takeout set. Whether you are here to savor exotic spices or simply to switch up your palate, this place is a great choice.
