This is the second casual restaurant in Taipei that I can return to after "Grace Cafe"

"Hetian Coffee Canteen" is located near the Regent Hotel, about an 8-minute walk from Exit 3 of Zhongshan Station. The store has a large space and many seats. It can be seen that it does not pay much attention to decoration, but overall it is still clean (but the floor is a bit sticky)

Arrived at almost 7 o'clock on Saturday night, the store was almost full, most of the customers were uncles, aunts or parents with children.

The home-cooked commercial set meal here includes: main course + three side dishes + daily soup + Ji'an rice + drinks + dessert. The price is mostly between $280-$300. If you choose fish as the main course, it will cost more than $300.

We ordered a General Tso's Chicken for $300 and an Onion Chicken Tenders for $280

The menu emphasizes that the white rice is Ji'an rice, and it is cooked quite well. The soup is bitter melon soup. Personally, I think it is quite bitter, which is just right for me (because I don't like bitter melon very much).

There were a total of 6 side dishes in our two set meals, and only one was repeated; among them, my favorite was the one with eggplant, which is also easy to go with rice. The other side dishes were just mediocre and not very memorable.

The portions of the main dishes were given with sincerity, and I was very satisfied. In terms of taste, I think both dishes are delicious. In terms of how satisfying the meal is, the General Tso's Chicken is better. I feel that the portion of meat is a bit more, but it is delicious. It turned out to be quite salty. The onion and chicken fillets were just right. If they were fried a little spicy, they would be more flavorful.
PS If you want spicy food, you can choose from light spicy, medium spicy or very spicy.

For drinks, we chose iced milk tea and iced milk green. We used creamer and it tasted slightly sweet. It was not special but tasted good. If you want to drink hot drinks, there are many choices~

We all ordered cheese for dessert. When we took one bite, we were reminded of the cheese we made at home with my mother when I was a child. It was ordinary but delicious. It was a good ending.

This place is also suitable for people with big appetites. You can refill rice and soup for free once. If you want to refill drinks, the first time is at a discounted price of $40.

Overall, if you are like me and like to eat such a hearty meal with meat, vegetables, rice, soup, drinks and desserts, I recommend you to come and try it!
