Taipei Zhongxiao Dunhua - UG Shakers, what's trending? I don't know either. I just happened to pass by and thought I'd give it a try.
Firstly, I think their marketing is really good and they're great at packaging. But honestly, the drink is just so-so. There are more and better options for hand-shaken drinks!
As for what to order, try their signature one:
📍 Triple Infusion Jasmine Milk Tea (less ice, 10% sugar) 75 TWD
🌕🌕🌘🌑🌑
New members receive a 5 TWD discount coupon, so the total is 70 TWD.
It comes with a "Tri-Pick Straw," which is quite gimmicky. It says on it: savor the tea aroma, savor the floral fragrance, savor the milk essence. Well written.
Here's my take on the straw: the experience with this straw is quite poor. It doesn't feel satisfying to drink. I felt like switching to a bigger straw.
The straw has a small flow, which can indeed let the taste slowly spread in your mouth, but because it takes longer to drink, you drink more slowly, the ice cubes can easily melt, and it becomes less cold.
As for critiquing the milk tea, it definitely doesn't taste like fresh milk. It's certainly meticulously crafted with rich creamer base; by the end, it doesn't feel great on the tongue.
As for the floral aroma in the tea scent, it’s really aromatic, so much that it tastes like drinking perfume. (If there's such a full-bodied aromatic tea, then it's really impressive, or perhaps I'm misunderstanding it.)
All in all, at 70 TWD, even if it were sold at 50 TWD, I wouldn't want to buy it again. Maybe I'm just not a beverage enthusiast, haha.
