Sanjiao Izakaya is located at the central west road exit of the Zhongli Xinming Tourist Night Market. Besides not having a very prominent sign, there is a small entrance that is easily overlooked if you don’t pay close attention.
Today, I enjoyed salmon fried rice, assorted sashimi, beef diaphragm, and charcoal-grilled chicken leg, totaling 580 TWD.
Salmon Fried Rice:
The stir-frying was quite impressive, with a strong wok hei that made the rice grains distinct and harmoniously complemented the savory flavor of the salmon cubes. There was even a ball of shrimp roe on top, which made it feel like a great value.
Assorted Sashimi:
A standard dish, the fish was fresh and delicious.
Beef Diaphragm:
Two skewers; the texture and flavor of the beef diaphragm have always been a favorite of mine. The grilling technique here did not disappoint, with rich juices and a crisp, tender texture.
Charcoal-Grilled Chicken Leg:
The chicken leg was sweet and juicy with a crunchy texture, and the pepper sprinkled on the plate generously was an interesting touch.
Overall, it was a nice Japanese izakaya. What’s a bit ironic is that although the restaurant is open until 2 AM, the kitchen stops taking orders after 11:50 PM, making the extra operating hours almost meaningless. Although the entrance is compact and discreet, the interior is actually surprisingly spacious. Unfortunately, I didn’t take a good photo of the spacious interior, so I won’t share it, but the bar corridor is relatively narrow.
The total cost was actually 583 TWD, and the restaurant thoughtfully used a rounding method often employed by Haidilao. Although it only saved a little, this thoughtful gesture was still pleasing.
I recommend it to everyone!
