Located in the Gushan District of Kaohsiung, "GanWei" primarily operates during late-night hours and is particularly enticing for its crispy egg pancakes and Hong Kong-style dim sum. In the past, I visited a late-night shop specializing in Hong Kong-style dim sum and still find it hard to forget their crispy egg pancakes. However, that shop later relocated, and I forgot its name, so I've been searching for a replacement ever since. "GanWei" can be said to be one of the few comparable options. The crispy egg pancakes here are fried to a perfect crunchiness, offering a unique texture, and both the fillings and the crispiness of the skin are just right. Moreover, with a focus on Hong Kong-style dim sum, it exudes a nostalgic traditional flavor.
Besides the crispy egg pancakes, Ganwei's Hong Kong-style radish cake is also outstanding. The exterior is fried to a fragrant crisp, while the interior is soft and slightly sticky, just right. The radish cakes here are not too greasy, and have a rich aroma and texture of radish, highly recommended as well.
The downside of this shop might be that the environment is a bit stuffy, but overall, "GanWei" indeed has strong credentials, especially in terms of the quality of its crispy egg pancakes and radish cakes. If you get peckish during nighttime, this place is definitely worth a try.
