🚩 An old-time Cantonese restaurant in Taipei’s East District, delicious and authentic

1976 Hong Kong Cuisine has been operating in Taipei's East District for many years (even longer than I have!), and although it's an older establishment, the overall decor is very new. The kitchen area is separated by glass, making it neat and clean without any oily smell. The seating area is spacious, decorated in a Japanese color scheme with white and light wood, creating a pleasant atmosphere without the cramped feeling commonly found in East District restaurants. Their pig liver noodles are selected for the 2024's 500 bowls (but I didn’t order it 😅).

After being seated, the staff takes orders verbally at the table, and after dining, payment is made in cash only, with traditional paper invoices issued.

At the back of the dining area, there is lemon water and condiments available for self-service.

I’ve been to this restaurant 2-3 times, and I think it’s the best Cantonese dining spot in the area. The portion sizes are filling, and the dining environment along with the service attitude is quite good. I recommend it to everyone!

Shrimp Wonton Noodles $185 The shrimp inside the wonton is quite large. The noodles have a moderate thickness and a good chew. The seasoning is very nice.
Steamed fragrant chicken rice $185 You can choose the doneness for the egg; I chose a half-cooked egg. The seasoning of the chicken is very fragrant, and the meat is tender. It's coated in a smooth sauce, which is very delicious. The portion size of the whole bowl is quite generous!
Black Bean Sauce Stewed Chicken Feet $100 Approximately 3-4 pieces, includes bones. Considering the price, not particularly recommended.
Steamed spare ribs in black bean sauce $100 Not bad, the spare ribs are steamed very tender. They should be coated in some flour, making them a bit slippery.
Fish roe steamed siu mai $100 The siu mai has a very firm texture, and the fish roe is crunchy.

東區後巷熱門港式餐廳🍴 喜歡吃豬肝的人絕對不要錯過豬肝撈麵,豬肝的口感Q彈、又脆,熟度料理的剛剛好,很驚艷;鮮蝦腸粉的蝦超脆,雲吞很紮實,一定要去自助區裝醬料,沾什麼都搭~港式奶茶不死甜,比例平衡,非常喜歡! 每道菜都好吃無雷,且份量多,雖然用餐時間人很多,但翻桌得很快,店裡還會播懷舊金曲,推~

店員熱情,一進門就有人問幾位,不會讓你空等在那。上餐速度快,有提供檸檬水。 我點了最近得到500盤的豬肝撈麵,但我不喜歡撈麵改點撈河粉~豬肝脆口又嫩!果然好吃~河粉調味適中,口感也剛好!付的清湯偏鹹,港味十足?? 蘿蔔糕軟嫩,皮有煎脆!豉汁排骨鹹香好吃,很嫩! 同事點港式臘味飯,她說臘腸好硬嘴巴很酸,下次要點牛腩飯,牛腩好嫩喔。

看到這店名,腦裡就哼起 1976 樂團的歌:「我並不想成為誰的指南針/也許妳該學習相信自己的方向感」,但其實是餐廳創立的年份。店內播放的歌曲,倒是草東沒有派對的爛泥:「我想要說的前人們都說過了/我想要做的有錢人都做過了」 但找美食嘛,進一間沒試過的餐廳,都是一次新的冒險,只能相信自己的方向感,沒有人能代替你體驗。 這間店的服務生會來點餐,雖是港式餐廳,卻沒有乾炒牛河。僅收現金與開立一般發票,平日中午時段就幾乎客滿。 薑蔥撈麵,有高麗菜(非清燙,有油拌),口味近似蔥油拌麵,薑絲味十足,麵條份量亦足。 鮮蝦腸粉,蝦仁頗大且鮮,醬油亦為清甜口味,唯腸粉口感一般。 不知是哪道餐附上清湯,口味則略重,較適合用於中途轉移口味。 整體來說,餐點品質是相當不錯,只不過作為日常快餐來說,單價仍是稍嫌貴了些,或許下次有機會再試試其他品項。
